This from a tipster: With the news that Charles Crowson left, I heard from a reliable source that Ebony Monet and Katherina Yancy are not renewing with Today's THV in Little Rock.

KSLA GM Addresses Storm Coverage and ReRun of LSU Game

This from KSLA.com

Thank you for expressing your concerns about the broadcast of the LSU game on KSLA News 12. Please know we only interrupt programming when it is absolutely necessary. During the game Tornado Warnings were issued for a portion of our viewing area…affecting about 50,000 of our viewers. It is our responsibility and obligation to inform those in the path of the storm. Tornados can be deadly. We continue our Tornado Warning coverage until the danger passes.

During the LSU game we did go to a split screen, keeping the game up as well as our storm coverage. We did have a delay in going to the split screen and we have taken measures to correct that for the future.

Tonight, at 8:00pm the LSU-Auburn game will be rebroadcast on the CBS College Sports Network on the following channels:

Comcast Cable 732
SuddenLink Cable 123
Dish Network 152
DirecTV 613

KSLA News 12 will televise the Alabama at LSU game at 2:30 p.m. on November 6th. The Tigers (7-1, 4-1 SEC) are 12th in AP, Harris Interactive and BCS Standings and 13th in the USA Today rankings. The Crimson Tide (7-1, 4-1 SEC) are sixth in the latest AP, USA Today and Harris Interactive polls and seventh in the BCS Standings.

Thank you for watching KSLA News 12,
James Smith, KSLA New 12 Vice-President/General Manager

Shreveport Station Caught Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Seems there were alot of upset football fans last night when severe storms came marching through the ArkLaTex. Shreveport CBS affiliate KSLA, Channel 12, went into severe weather coverage mode as soon as the tornado warnings started popping up in its coverage area...and they just so happen to start during the LSU football game and this upset alot of football fans. KSLA General Manager James Smith addressed the situation the station faced in THIS editorial. The station at the first of the severe weather coverage broke away entirely from the game...but then eventually, after a lot of phoned in complaints, went to a split screen. Complaints like this are nothing new, tv stations face this every time severe weather threatens. What the public needs to know is the stations are here to inform FIRST and fill the rest with entertainment. Even with the split screen last night you couldn't see the radar OR the program they had in the lower half really good.

KATV to Direct TV Viewers in South Arkansas...Not So Fast...

Seems some details were left out of the announcement by KATV earlier in the week that it is now available via Direct TV in Southern Rural counties of Arkansas. Seems the channel available is one of the station's digital channels and does NOT broadcast any ABC programming or Razorback programming. The station just repeats the news over and over again. Also left out is the fact it will cost customers to receive the channel.

KATV Gets on HD Bandwagon

In a press release KATV announced today it is set to begin presenting its newscasts in HD. The press release fails to mention just when this will begin, just states the station is in the final stages. It's a race in the Little Rock market to see who will be first.

KATV Now Available on Direct TV in South Arkansas

Arkansans in South Arkansas that subscribe to Direct TV can now receive Little Rock TV station KATV, Channel 7. A news release from KATV says Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR) and Arkansas Fourth District Congressman Mike Ross (D-AR) were instrumental in getting the channel added to the Direct TV lineup. Due to the Southern counties being in a different TV DMA Little Rock channels aren't available on many of the cable systems are dish systems. I wonder if a push will be put on for all of the other Little Rock channels to be added down that way....why just KATV?!

The talk in the Shreveport TV news market is all the anchors/reporters leaving KTAL. Everyone wants to know why KTAL anchor Michelle White is not on air. A tipster says White will be back...after "an extended period of time". Wonder what that means? Any way, mums the word out of the station. Word has it jobs have been threatened if word gets out!
