KARK Anchor Delivers


KARK Anchor Jancey Sheats has given birth to twins. Ryan Grace was born at 9:44 am weighing 5 lbs 4 oz and Sophie Reese was born at 9:45 am Wednesday weighing 5lbs and 14 oz.

KATV Signs Hog Ball Rights Over to ISP Sports

Source: Associated Press A North Carolina firm, ISP Sports of Winston-Salem, is the new holder of television and radio rights for University of Arkansas sports events.

A joint news release yesterday said Little Rock television station KATV had signed over the radio and television rights for Arkansas to ISP. KATV will be the flagship television station for a new Razorback sports network.

KATV is owned by by Arlington (Virginia)-based Allbritton Communications Company.

ISP will also be the holder of multimedia rights to Razorback sports events, under the name Razorback Sports Properties.

The news release says the 10-year agreement will guarantee Arkansas $73 million, including $5.7 million in the first year. Last year, UA took in $3.4 million from the arrangement with KATV.

This from a tipster: At KATV, Jason Harper's contract has not been renewed and will be leaving by the end of the month. And the station's owner, Dale Nicholson is leaving next year after the transition to digital in February.

Arkansas TV News hears while KFSM's Meteorologist Garrett Lewis was LIVE on location in Fort Smith a fan was showing him some attention while trying to drive AND BAM caused a crash. Seems he might have a new title there at the station.

A tipster says, "Johnathan Wilson from KARK is leaving for D.C...his last day was Friday." According to his bio, Wilson joined KARK in August 2006.
