KATV Sweeps May Sweeps

KATV/Channel 7/Little Rock was the number station in all newscasts during the May sweeps. Channel 7 news director Nick Genty tells Arkansas Business the station came in first place in all the newscasts including the weekend newscasts in the lastest sweeps.  Genty says the biggest win came at 6pm with a 10.27 household ranking, compared to 7.26 for KARK and 5.61 for KTHV.

TV Academy to Honor Four Arkansas Broadcast Journalists

The Mid-America Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will honor four Arkansas journalists next month.  Arkansas Business reports Jim Pitcock, Lew Short, Carolyn Long and Larry Foley will be honored for their work in broadcast journalism in the state.

Fort Smith News Director Leaving

FTV Live reports KFSM/Channel 5/Fort Smith News Director Bill Cummings is leaving after only 2 1/2 years.  Cummings joined the station in early 2015.  Cummings will stay through July sweeps and leave July 30th.

KTHV Hires New Sports Anchor

KTHV/Channel 11/Little Rock has hired a new sports anchor.  Taylor McGregor comes to Little Rock from KCWY/Casper, Wyoming.  Taylor studied journalism at the University of Arkansas.  Taylor will begin her on air duties in July.

Good Afternoon Arkansas......

KATV/Channel 7/Little Rock has announced it will start an afternoon news/lifestyle program.  The new program will air from 3pm until 4pm, with The Steve Harvey Show moving to 4pm.  

KATV News Director Nick Genty said he was "thrilled to announce" the new program, which he said Channel 7 had been "working on for some time." Along with the hourlong "Good Morning Arkansas" at 9 and the 30-minute "Midday Arkansas" at 11:30, the new program will give KATV two-and-a-half hours of local programming between "Good Morning America" and "Channel 7 News Live at 5."

The station is currently seeking a host for the program which will debut September 4th.

Sinclair to Say Goodbye to Nielson Ratings...

Sinclair Broadcasting, the parent company of KATV/Channel 7/Little Rock/ will start using comScore exclusively beginning in 2018.  TV Spy reports Sinclair has informed its advertisers and media buying agencies of the change.  “We understand that there are choices in local broadcast measurement, and Sinclair will continue to work with our clients to ensure their buys meet expectations,” Sinclair executive vice president and chief operating officer Steve Marks said in a letter obtained by TV News Check.

KARK Names New Anchors For Early AM and Weekends

KARK/Channel 4/Little Rock has named new anchors for weekends and KARK Today.  Victoria Price will taking over the weekend anchor duties...she was the KARK Today 4am anchor and morning live reporter.  Meanwhile, Isabella Moller will be taking over the early morning duties at 4am on KARK.

Fort Smith Station Welcomes New News Anchor

KFSM/Channel 5/Fort Smith has hired a new evening news anchor.  Arkansas Business reports Erika Thomas has been hired to replace Katelynn Zoellner who left earlier this year.  Thomas come to Arkansas from Youngstown, Ohio.  Her first day will be today!
