KATV News Director Fired; Chris May and Barry Brandt Sidelined...

 KATV/Channel 7 News Director Nick Genty has been termniated!! According to reports Sinclair management says Genty was suspended September 17th. In an email to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette Sinclair Group Manager John Seabers stated, "It was determined through our investigation into the recent events at KATV that swift action was important to hold the responsible parties accountable."

According to the ADG, the station received criticism on twitter from the National Association of Black Journalists when an on-air anchor wore an afro wig to celebrate 70 degree weather.  

Genty had been with KATV since 2011.  

 

UPDATE:  According to Arkansas Business.com, Channel 7 anchor Chris May and meteorologist Barry Brandt have both been sidelined due to the incident which took place on Sept 16th.  May and Brandt both wore wigs during the 10pm newscast.

Little Rock/Shreveport Stations Receive Emmy Nods

 


The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences have released its list of nominations for 2021. Little Rock and Shreveport/Monroe, LA stations are represented well once again.  The entire list can be found HERE!  The awards gala will be held October 23rd.

New KTHV Weekend Anchor Makes Debut

 

A new anchor has made her debut at the weekend news desk for KTHV/Channel 11/Little Rock.  Sarah Horbacewicz comes to Little Rock from WENY/Elmira, NY where she was a multi-media journalist.  Horbacewics will be anchoring the weekend newscasts on Channel 11 and also be MMJ 




It's an Early Start for New Chief Met in NWA

New KFSM/Channel 5/Fort Smith Chief Met has started a day earlier than planned. Matt Standridge was scheduled to start on Monday, Sept 6th...but he started on air today!
