Former KATV Reporter Passes Away

KATV.com Former Channel 7 Reporter Dewayne Graham has passed away.

Graham had been fighting various illnesses and medical problems for several months before passing away early Wednesday morning. He was 63 years old.

He was the face of 7 On Your Side from 1989-99, including his weekly feature, "Rip-Off of the Week," shining a light on a person, business or product that had been plaguing consumers in Central Arkansas. For his efforts, then-Attorney General Winston Bryant named him an honorary assistant attorney general.

Shortly after leaving KATV, he ran for Congress, losing in a run-off with Mike Ross. He also ran for Pulaski County Sheriff in 2006, losing to Doc Holladay.

So sorry--63 is just too young for this.

He looked good for his age. I thought he was about 53.

So sad.

He should have been elected to both of those political offices. He was a good, professional person.

Dewayne was part of the first news team at Fox 16. I know he had high hopes for the station when it started news.

I worked with Dewayne for 5 years at KATV...doing many of his promos. He was passionate about his work and couldn't wait to come show us what story he had next. I'm very sad to hear about his passing...rest in peace buddy.

DeWayne may have been "a good. professional person". I acknowledge not knowing the man; nonetheless, he was wholly unqualified for the office of Pulaski County Sheriff.
