I also missed Darby Bybee (sp?) leaving from KARK. What happened there? Also they shut down local sports it looks like. True?
KARK just has one guy doing sports in central arkansas. Their high school and other college coverage is now pathetic.
When 4 says "Local news that matters" that all they mean. Forget that high school sports is what helps to pull small and even larger communities together.
But remember 11 only has one sports guy as well and he doesn't even do sports every night. They pre tape his sports segments or they had the late Matt Turner or Craig doing sports.
I am not the biggest 7 fan. However they do a good job providing cover of the high school and some college sports and it has been this way for several years.
KARK said they let Bybee go to pursue a different direction. If Steve Adamson is that direction, it has me wondering.
Who is Steve Adamson?
KTHV and KARK are horribly managed.
They get what they deserve - a major butt-whuppin by KATV.

Don't know who's leading THV, but Fox smoked them today on the escapee and airport evacuation. Fox shouldn't be shutting the door. That one should be shut at 8th and Izard.

Alyson screamed at THV too, but she's still on tv with pretty good ratings so maybe she has it right.
Well since we are talking about 7 people, maybe someone should tell the redhead if she is going to compromise her news credibility by pimping fashion on the Saturday morning show, she might want to bring her own wardrobe up to date.

Also ratingsndo not convey quality. Its like saying mcdonalds is quality cuisine because they sell a billion a year.
Speaking of basic language skills....do you wanna try and explain that first sentence. Ratings might not convey quality in your mind but they do convey one thing. More people are watching KATV than any other station. I know it's hard to comprehend that more people watch KATV than you because you think that your product is superior but maybe you're wrong about your product. People left your station to watch channel 7. There is a reason they did and until you figure it out your never going to stand a chance. McDonald's sells a "billion a year" for one reason, they figured out what people want.
Yes it is a complete compromise. Reading the news in one breath and then selling pants and handbags in the next is hardly credible. Maybe she could ditch the 7 pin and wear a Verizon logo instead. At least that would be honest.

Good Morning Arkansas is no better, but at least they don't have a news segment for the conflict of interest. But with all the legit weather segments and "credible" news people hosting it, I doubt the veiwers can tell the difference. Either way, katv has a long and storied history of selling their soul, "the redhead" is just latest news personality to fall victim to this practice.
Speaking of Verizon, find a station in the country that didn't have them on to talk about the iPhone 5 latest features and previewing the product release. That's not news, just a product of interest to many. Double standard maybe?
It's true what she does (or is forced to do?) is not ok by j-school 101 standards, but I guess as long as she never has to cover a story about the Bag and Pants store she won't be in too much hot water.
I'm not sure if Verizon sells pants, but Middleton might. Why don't ya'll see if Ned would fit in a pair.
It's been a while since you guys have had a chance to go into full meltdown mode on here. The blogger needs to post more often, it's so fun to watch. Jealousy is a bitter pill my friends.

I'm not jealous. I wouldn't hock shoes and belts under the illusion of journalism. That would violate my ethics as a journalist. I feel sorry for your people that do it. Hopefully they can sleep at night.
Cute attempt at a comeback KATV, but you are guilty as charged. Take it like a man. Or in this case, a woman.
KATV has always sold their newscast time. This is not new. As a matter of fact, they have segments in their evening newscasts that are nothing more than commercials for local hospitals. (They call them medchecks and healthchecks and so forth). And yes they disguise it as a news story, but it is bought and paid for.
So they may be more blatantly doing it on Saturday morning and on Good Morning Arkansas, but they are sneakier about it later in the day.
Come down from your ivory tower and stop pretending that you don't do it as well. Every station does the same thing. Your just jealous that you haven't been asked to do it.

Wow it was Sat Daybreak! I didn't see it but I'm assuming she wasn't reading news at the same moment she was conducting a fashion interview. Every morning show does segments that come off like commercials. KARK was live for 2hrs at Panera the other day hocking their grand opening. Sounds like a commercial to me. THV does the same evening sales-driven spots. "Prescription Arkansas" is one. Everyone does the same stuff. It's not gunna change

Every morning show in the world has news readers do that. They are interviewing guests who are promoting a product. Watch any morning show, even networks, it's done everywhere. To say hat it's not or that you have too much journalistic integrity to do it is laughable and shows the kind of thinkIng that keeps a station in third place.

My buddy said the Subway commercial where the woman acapella sings "sweet onion chicken teriyaki" is the most annoying commercial ever. I then reminded him of the fat loss center. He was forced to agree.

Local & national election coverage is a joke. Every station has different results. It is just filler until a candidate concedes.
You should have watched Fox News for the comedy. Karl Rove got his panties in a wad because Fox had to declare Obama the winner. He lost millions of PAC $ on that one & just couldn't accept it. Lots of sad faces on that unbiased channel.
