Anchors Away in Shreveport

This from the tip box:

Pat Simon has left KSLA. He was shown the door Friday in a dispute over taking a job out of state in PR and breaching his contract.

Simon had anchored at KSLA/Channel 12/Shreveport since December 2008.

Good for you Pat! I hope you are very happy with the new job, and away from the BS in this burg.

There will be when James is shown the same door.

Aww come on now! J.S. knows everything there is to running a successful and well-oiled broadcast machine!! And he really knows how to hand-pick talent too! ;)

Yes, and we've seen James' hand picked talent constantly mis-pronounce words, and stumble, bumble, and fumble their way through their copy.

Well at least I don't have to see schmaltzy-glibby Simon no mo'! He blew chunks.

Does anyone proof copy prior to being posted on the website? I see grammar and spelling mistakes on there every day. KTBS does the same thing.

No, they don't proof.

KSLA has the worst typo's of the 3 local stations. Slow it down. Use your spell check. Then re-read what you typed before you post it.

You will be sorely missed Pat at KSLA. Their creditability goes far south with your departure. Their loss and probably a significant loss in viewership...

Didn't know this has happened and am so disheartned. I loved Pat. I just assumed he was out of la for National Guard reasons. I'm not so sure I will continue to watch channel 12 any longer. Ksla had a great team. Good luck to the new anchor, but my favorite is and will always be Pat, Dominiqu56465554e, and Steve. Will really miss Pat.

Credibility at KSLA??? Huh? Are you drunk or on crack or both??
KSLA is just a bunch of meat-puppets reading a teleprompter for Christ's sake. The anchors never practiced any journalism...they just read the box and do stand-ups for stories other people produce and do voice drops for stories dumped off CNN Newssource Services. Get real people... TV is all smoke and mirrors, especially in dumpy Shrevespit!

Bitter much?

10:23 Is spot on. I've worked at two stations in this market and that's pretty much the case. When they expanded newscasts, they rely a lot on subscription services for news copy & b-roll. Very little work is done as far as anchors doing any actual reporting is concerned.

I've worked at two Shreveport news stations as well, and almost none of the anchors have done any actual reporting over the past 30 years. The only exception to that rule were 5,6, and 10 anchor Lane Stone, and morning anchor Shannon Slatton at KTAL. Those are the only two anchors I have seen who would go out and get stories daily.

You should have ditched cherise or whatever her name is from the morning broadcast. She screws up all the time. Going to start watching ktbs. Loved Pat Simon. I like Doug Warner as well but not enough to keep watching your newscasts. Y'all always screw up a good thing.

I loved Pat! I knew something was wrong since I hadn't seen him on the air. I thought he would be on since Dominique was off on maternity leave

Still don't know why he is no longer there. Has it been announced the reason he left. He did a good job!

Get Pat Simon back...he was the best ever!

I didn't much care for him myself. Too much happy-chat and glibby-guk. Stretched words out waaaay toooo muuuch, toooo maaaanny times in a way of adding editorial to the comments. Whatever happened to the day when news-readers would simply read the news and not perform?
KSLA could use a different type of news-reader instead of these mucky-mucks.

Pat simon is a very good anchor and should be back at channel 12. He was an asset to that station. He is well dressed and a man with class, worked great as a team with his coanchor. Always doing special assignments for the station and appeared to be an excellent employee. Treat Pat right and I am sure he will do the same. What did channel 12 do to cause the conflict?

If you read the original post...it stated:
"Pat Simon has left KSLA. He was shown the door Friday in a dispute over taking a job out of state in PR and breaching his contract."

So apparently he was working a PR gig on the side which goes against all best practices as a journalist. You can't be a journalist AND a PR Hack.. kind of like being a Doctor AND an Undertaker, bit of a conflict of interest, don't you think?

Repeating unsubstantiated rumors is the same as telling lies. You are better than that. He did not have a pr job before he left tv. He left for a new career. The only other job Pat ever had was as a soldier in the Army National Guard and Reserves. And now you know
