Shreveport Anchor Wins Award for Hairstyle

These days there is an award for just about everything...including for the best hairstyle in journalism.  And who is the winner of that....Jody Lowery. The KTBS/Channel 3/Shreveport anchor beat out such names as Betty Nguyen, Alex Witt, Deborah Norville, and Alison Kosik.

Was this in the "Helmet Hair" category?

Good Lord. What about having a makeup or talent contest?

How cool! Good for you Jodi. I'm glad it was won by someone who does not work for Fox. Now that 80's hair is in again I wonder how long it will be before the spiral perm makes a come back?

Next it will be a contest for the "Best Use of Over-the-top False Eyelash and/or Mascara". I realize on-air talent needs makeup but some of these women just are too over the top with the Sherwin-Williams palette. Too bad they're not recognized for "journalism awards" but ahh it is a such a superficial business, ain't it?

This must be an old pic.

In what year? 1977?

Friggin stupid to have an award for anything in this business except for quality journalism. An award for hairstyle is the dumbest thing I can imagine.

Hear, hear. I second that posting. Shows what broadcast journalism has become; just a popularity contest.

First of all, I can't believe you all are taking this so seriously. It's NOT a major award.
Secondly, local broadcasting has been a popularity contest, just like it is in high school, for the past 20-25 years. If you have worked in local broadcasting during that time you already know this.

Congratulations to Jody, but I wish they would call the award "best hairstyle on local television", and not make any pretense that it has anything to do with journalism. Do they still have journalism departments in universities? I would hate to think that anyone is actually teaching what people on TV and newspapers are doing nowadays. And from their spelling and grammar, it appears that they probably dropped out of high school by the 10th grade.

Considering what a joke KTBS has become, this IS a major award for them!

Maybe the GM will have promotions build a sponsorship package spot to congratulate Mz Jodi on her hair award.

I find it funny that Jodi wins an award, even if it is very minor award, after being demoted. A move which has caused me to stop watching KTBS after 35 years of viewership, and I know George could care less.

Yep, he's too busy blowing smoke up Edwin's tail and as long as the Wrays get a check, they won't notice all the other money being scammed right out from under their noses.
Can you say clueless?

It's their own fault because they allow it to happen.

Retarded Southern rich-class. They inter-marry with other rich retards and wind up with double-retards for kids.

Saw Jodi on 10pm news last night. Girlfriend, you are pretty but you need to do some crossfit or yoga or something 'cuz you're starting to really fill out. Too much elbow-bending won't keep you in chair, please don't go the Shari Warren route.

I saw her last night also and was wondering where her ring was? Still engaged?

At 8:56 PM, March 22, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hasn't she "been engaged" for about 2+ years now? Or is that code for "it's complicated"?

I suppose a thicker look relates better to the viewers. The ArkLaTex is synonymous with the Lard-belt.

Wow !! I'm really glad that all is perfect in your little chicken S%&t world !!

Does anyone proof copy prior to being posted on the website? I see grammar and spelling mistakes every day. KSLA does the same thing.

At 7:45 AM, March 29, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

No, they do not proof copy.

At 4:43 PM, March 30, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

lol! Who is on this grammar/proof-reading tear? I've now seen this comment on at least 2 other posts. Newspapers may still have copy editors, but most TV stations probably don't. And TV reporters, who are often responsible for posting their stories, aren't known for grammar and spelling and trivial stuff like that.

I am "on this grammar/proof-reading tear," and you will continue seeing me post comments about it as long as "paid professionals" keep posting grammar and typing mistakes daily on the website.
