Nexstar to Broadcast Weekly Political Program "Statewide"

Just when I had thought Nexstar couldn't make another stupid decision..well they do.  Looks as though Arkansas Today won't be the ONLY Arkansas program ALL the non-Arkansas residents will be subjected to.  Nexstar has plans to broadcast Capital View as it does Arkansas Today to its stations in the Fort Smith-Fayetteville, Memphis, Monroe-El Dorado, Shreveport-Texarkana and Springfield markets.

KARK made the announcement last week.  “Our company serves every county in Arkansas, so it is important to provide political programming during a crucial election year in not only Little Rock and Northwest Arkansas, but Harrison, Texarkana and El Dorado as well.” said Nexstar Broadcasting Co-Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President Brian Jones.

Capitol View, which debuted in April 2013 on KARK-TV as Little Rock’s first weekend morning political show, focuses on the issues and newsmakers driving the Arkansas political scene.  Hosted by award-winning journalist David Goins, the show has featured interviews with the biggest names in Arkansas politics including all six members of Arkansas' U.S. congressional delegation, Governor Mike Beebe and former governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee.

David Goins will be the host of the weekly program.  The program will start its statewide broadcast the weekend of March 22-23.

Oh great, yet another Arkansas program being forced on the entire region by Nexstar corporate in Irving. What about Texas Today, Louisiana Today, Missouri Today, Tennessee Today, and Mississippi Today? We Where are those programs? If we have to watch Arkansas programs then Arkansas should have to watch our state programs.

I'm guessing that Nexstar will be managing their stations news/programming options from a central regional source to streamline advertising sales. This is where their programming decisions are being made irrespective of the markets they actual broadcast in and are supposed to serve.
Call it a hunch.

Well, they don't serve "every county in Arkansas" for those using Dish and DirecTV for service.

Or, getting their programs off-the-air via antenna.

Just another reason for NW La. & E. Texas viewers to NOT TUNE IN to KTAL. And folks wonder why KTAL always lags behind in the local ratings.

Goats could run a company better than the morons at Deathstar. Totally out of touch with what the viewers in different markets care about. You'll watch what we want you to and like it!

Shreveport is being pretty much ignored it seems. As long as the shares budge even a tiny bit, Nexstar in Irving couldn't care less because they have other fish to fry in Little Rock and statewide combo sales that this program and others like it offer.
