40/29 News To Expand Sunrise Newscast

Source: KHBS-KHOG Press Release Beginning Monday, 40/29 News Sunrise will be expanding to two hours, with a new start time of 5 a.m.

This makes 40/29 News the area’s only station providing local news and weather coverage at 5 a.m.

“This expansion has been in the works for some time.” According to News Director Mike Courington, “We realize that people are getting up earlier and looking for local news and weather.”

40/29 News Sunrise is anchored by Jennifer Haile, a graduate of the University of Arkansas. She is joined weekday mornings by AMS Certified Meteorologist Justin Povick. The duo is the most experienced morning news team in the area.

“We look forward to the expanded format.” Says Jennifer, “it allows us to provide viewers with the information they need at their convenience.”

It just boggles my mind that there are still markets out there where the morning news doesn't go on until 5:30am.

You are easily boggled then. Who cares at that time. Look at the HUT levels. No one is watching anyway. In this market the AM news is weak anyway. Just recaps from the night before and weather every 30 secs.

Remember when Kelly Kemp did the morning and noon news. That was back when KFSM had a really great product. Now they look like a bunch of high schoolers.

I agree with you their.I miss the days when Kelley Kemp did the morning news and the noon news and also I miss the days when Burr Edison,Guy Westmoreland, and Jay Hillgartner did the nights. In my opinion that was channel 5's best days.

Talking about Guy, Bur and Jay, I hear all of them are doing quite well. And I know Guy is quite happy over at Clear Channel. Is Jay still out in Florida?

Yes KFSM when Bur, Guy, and Jay was the best newscast I still watch the evenings just for Bridget Schultz, I love her. I miss those days!

Well now the Ashleys although quite pretty to wake up to just don't cut the mustard news anchor wise. KFSM still is my choice over KHOG, 40/29 has good sports and really nothing else I like. KFSM has Bridget, Garrett Lewis is a local weather guy so I watch him, and those hotties Sara Lasure and Tara Campbell.

Weekends I watch KHOG because Jared Broyles bothers me, but I do like that Kendra Kent's weather.
