Scott Returns to the THV Anchor Desk Monday
Liz Massey just announced that Dawn Scott will return to the anchor desk at KTHV on Monday. Scott has been on maternity leave since mid-December. She returned to the KTHV anchor desk in November 2006. This could prove to be interesting as KTHV will have to come up with some sort of anchor pairing now that Andy Pearson is out of the picture.

The only reason that THV is #4 in ratings is that KETS does not have a news block.
well I certainly hope that since Dawn is returning to the desk we do not have to her about her bundle of joy at 5,6 and 10 each day.
If you read the KTHV web blog you would think that Dawn is the only woman ever to give birth and raise a baby.
Dawn will not beat Beth Hunt in the 1rst round of the Babe Bracket on the Buzz!!
Dawn is so 1980s... Beth will use a dirty diaper to wipe up Dawn in the Buzz Babe Bracket.
Beth already made an appearance on the Buzz this morning.. she pretty much rules! Dawn was probably busy writing on her blog about how her burped this morning! Or maybe she was buying corsets to hold in that 30 pounds of baby fat she has not yet lost !!!

Here we go again...More tv industry comments displaying the maturity of junior high bullies. You would think this site would be a place to discuss the industry with more insight and depth than a county fair beauty contest. Again, with all the unbelievably cheap and immature shots you take you only display your own lack of personal development. Probably the lot of you would call yourself christians as well. Maybe you could save your ire for something more important than your problems with children and pregnancy weight and perhaps your time would be better spent in counseling trying to figure out why you have failed to mature or the source of your bitterness. My guess is she nor anyone else cares what your opinions are.

It may be a site for both reasonable and immature opinions but it seems that the immature ones are far greater in number and seem to be getting worse.

Oh I agree. The internet is a rough and tumble place. Take the 10:39 comment for example. It might not be worded in a polite way, but, there is a lot of truth there. Hard to come back to a market for the second time.

You people are out of touch with this market. This is arkansas. If you think the viewing public is represented by young male viewers looking for eye candy look at the numbers. Perhaps a porn site would be better for you than the news...
Can I just ask? What did Dawn ever do to any of you? It seems that on this blogsite, she is subjected to more vitriolic, hateful attacks than any other newsperson in this market. As far as I know, she came home to raise her son near her family and friends -- she was offered her old job back and took it. What's wrong with that?
News? There is no news in this town. The stations are full of actor wannabees and most are at the height of a mediocre career.
Dawn never did anything... except put herself in a very public job. If you're going to be a politician, or athlete, or actor, or singer, or newscaster.... then expect to get slammed for no reason, and, get perks in life for no reason.
May I just say green is not your color? The bashing stems from jealousy. It's a big ugly green monster, and it brings out the worst in people.
Anyone read Dawn's last blog entry before she returns to work on Monday?
To her credit she concedes in so many words that she really doesn't want to return to work on Monday and leave her little one with what can only presume to be a small army of potential babysitters and nannies.
The one thing I found superficial was the reasoning. Along with an "obligation" to the people of Arkansas (please!), she says it's to pay the bills.
Well, if Dawn and her doctor hubby are that strapped, why buy a almost half-million dollar home in Little Rock? Is a doctors take-home no longer good enough to support a three-person family in comfort in Arkansas?
I wonder if Dawn thought about how this could come across to the average Arkansas viewer who makes about $25K in a good year. They would be in heaven to make a third of what Dawn makes while they figure out how to support several children.
Why not just come clean and say that with two six-figure incomes coming in at home, you want to earn money and lots of it?
Nothing wrong with the choice or with making as much money as you can when you can. Just please spare us the hype.
I agree with the above post. I recently walked away from a 6 figure job to stay home with my child. I have a very nice home, but it's nowhere near making the top six in high profile for the week. My husband does well, but he is not a doctor. I never made excuses for working other than I liked my job and I got a huge paycheck. It took a lot of guts to walk away from that kind of money to spend time you can't get back with your child. I'm not saying it's wrong to be a working mom, but we should remember that most working moms barely make ends meet in Arkansas. They aren't blessed with high paying jobs like I was, and like my husband is, and like Dawn Scott is. It seems that Dawn is trying to make this comment to connect with the average viewer, forgetting we all saw her half mill home in the paper, etc. Good try, but come up with something a little more believable than I work because bills have to be paid. Is that to buy groceries and have electricity or buy all your clothes at boutiques around town, have a swanky house, car, and lavish vacations? It's a hard question I had to ask myself, but at least I was honest and didn't try to make it sound like we couldn't pay our bills if I quit.

I guess it is her fault that they (the viewer) have to figure out how to support several children.
She is prepared, with an education and job, to be able to support just about any size family she has.
How do any of you know how much Dawn makes? Or her husband, for that matter? Did anyone stop to think that maybe he has a six figure debt from medical school? Or maybe she has student loans from school years ago? No one knows what goes on behind closed doors, what debts need to be paid, how certain people are able to afford certain homes (people can finance anything these days). If any of you are informed of MD's salaries, they are the lowest they've been in years. In fact, many docs can't make ends meet, due to managed care, etc. If I remember correctly, Dawn was raised by a single, working mother, and she was taught to work. If she has thoughts otherwise, I'm sure she's struggling with the decision.

True we don't know what their checkbook looks like, but please spare us how horrible life is for the doctor and his television star wife living in a half million dollar home.
If you use your reasoning, then they shouldn't have bought their house. They should have paid off their student loans first--again if we use your logic.
What is a student loan payment for the average doctor? Does it flucuate if a quarter of a mill is coming into the house each year?
Predictably someone was going to miss the point and it's you. It's not that Dawn is bad for going back to work or a bad mother or any other negatives you want to read into it.
The point is she wasn't thinking about her audience. Perception is everything in TV and I doubt that most mothers in this state would say, "poor dear."
Also, please don't think we're stupid. Even with managed care, doctors make a LOT of money and if they don't, they're not trying. That degree is still worth millions.
And, just about everyone in TV in this town knows that Dawn is now one of the highest paid people in the market. Bet your house on it.

Dawn is in a public job and on TV 5 days out of the week yet she doesn't expect anyone to speak her name in public or dare make a comment about her?
She and her husband(both supposedly bright individuals) have the ability to get an education and find well-paying jobs yet are not able to calculate the payment on the purchase of a 1/2mil house nor are they exposed to the cost of children....?
She doesn't want to back to work on Monday (who says we want her to?) and we're supposed to feel sorry for her? Did she not check into how long her maternity leave was prior to having the child?
Student loans, student loans!!! I am SO SICK of hearing that one I could puke! Most I know pay 50bucks or so a month on student loans. So don't eat out a couple times during the month. That would put a kink in the lifestyle though wouldn't it?..... My heart bleeds for them. Would they rather have the loans or the education? Quit the bitching already. No one bought it in the first post and isn't now either.
I've not personally checked but THV is #4 in the ratings and that's a surprise? If so get ready for lots more!
Feb numbers are not out yet. THV has not fallen to #4... yet. With the departure of A.P. and the lack of a strong male anchor, that will more than likely happen. THV has put all of their stock in Dawn hoping that viewers will watch. In the past, they've blamed a poor "lead-in"??? Take a look a little deeper... ever thought it could be the people and the product you have or a lack there-of? Nahhhh. It's the lead-in.
I can't believe this blog has turned into a discussion about Dawn Scott's and her husbands paycheck. Most, if not all women who return to work have trouble leaving their kiddos. Period. This constant overanalyzation of this woman is unreal. Regardless of how much money anyone makes there are bill to be paid and for anonymous bloggers to pass judgement on such a benign statement is further evidence you have it out for this woman for whatever reason. Bitterness about one's own lot in life seems to breed a lot of petty, small minded, judgemental comments.
I listened to the babe bracket show with Anne J. and Dawn called in and David "I swear I'm not gay" Bazzel took shots at her saying that Beth Hunt had recovered more quickly from her pregnancy weight etc. Can you spell misogyny. Probably not. But people seem to feel free to turn on the animosity for no reason.
I really doubt that Dawn cares what any of you say or write about her on this blog site. I do find it interesting that she always draws so many comments both postive and negative.
This is hilarious ! People writing about how Dawn should spend her money, arguing about her husbands school loans, whether or not they should have bought their house. If it wasnt so funny it would be incredibly sad. Get a life people.

What's even more incredible about how petty some of you are, it's how two-dimentional some of you are. As the poster said, it's not about women going to work or Dawn or her husband being greedy.
It's about realizing who your audience is. The big mistake that many anchorwomen make is that they think they have to cater to the Heights and upper-crust women. That's not where your paycheck comes from.
It seemed to me after reading Dawn's blog that she was more interesting in justifying it to herself, not us.
Who cares.
Who cares what a bunch of frustrated industry people think. The folks who blog here definitely arent the audience or who pays the bills for these stations. Maybe the reason TV news sucks in LR is that all you folks use your brain for is gossiping instead of working or coming up with creative ideas.

Uhhh, let's see---THV #4? Have you seen last November's or the latest February ratings -- a long way from #4. More like #1 and #2 in everything. Heck, ch4 even beat ch7 in the mornings. THV wins mornings and 10pm.
