May Ratings: KARK Gains Ground at Five

Arkansas Business.com goes further in its newest article relating to the May ratings. Below are a few of the high points from the article:

> KATV had a 10.6 rating and 28 share at 5 p.m. and an 11 rating and 27 share at 6 p.m.
KARK narrowed the gap at 5 p.m. with an 8.1 rating and 21 share and jumped at 6 p.m. with a 7.3 rating and 16 share. KTHV-TV, Channel 11 scored a 5 rating and 13 share at 5 p.m. and a 6.6 rating and 15 share at 6 p.m.

> KATV fell in several demos, particularly with women aged 25-54, where the other stations improved and Channel 7 went from a 7.4 rating to a 4.6. However, its overall numbers are again big because of its continued dominance with persons aged 50-plus, where it again more than doubles the ratings of KARK and KATV combined.

Well....at 5 and 6 at least...things are back to the way they should be...the way they were a decade ago..KATV first, KARK second, and KTHV LAST!:)

If I were THV...I wouldn't get too upset. You were last most of your history anyway. Ask BJ what it was like.

THV is not too upset. Not only laughing all the way to the bank, but number 1 in the most important time slots - AM and 10pm. Yes, ask BJ what is what like to be last, then ask him what it's like to have the number 1 Morning News program for the past 5 years. At least he was able to adapt whenever change came his way and has a very successful and profitable product. What has KARK done the past five years? Well, you certainly didn't adapt very well.

Watch out! If you say anything bad about KARK they will delete it.

Grow some thick skin people!

The only reason KARK is #2 at 5 is because THV won't drop that rediculous call in mess that everyone hates. And at 6, well all I can say is lazy viewers just don't change the channel. AM is the most profitable and 10 is the coveted time slot.

Did anyone see the High Profile section of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette Sunday? The general sales manager was featured. High Profile? what a joke. It didn't mention that she was forced out at KARK because the sales reps threatened to quit if she didnt leave. Ask the sales reps at KTHV how they feel about her.

The sales reps at THV actually do like Leslie. It is possible to make mistakes and re invent yourself. Leslie is a good person and a hard worker. We've all done things we are not proud of. So what. Leslie is probably a lot more high profile than whomever made the negative comments.

THV dropped the call-in, e-mail in thing several months ago. Same 8 people kept calling in or e-mailing.
They still do those polls and sit on the Sofa... should they lose that and go back behind the desk?

4 will always beat THV at 5 as long as they have the powerhouse lead-in of Judge Judy!!!!!

Leslie Heizman is VERY well respected. If you think otherwise you don't know what you are talking about.

The BEST thing that ever happened was for Leslie to leave KARK. She is doing MUCH better at THV, don't you think?

KARK's rise in the ratings shouldn't come as a shock to anyone. They've overhauled their image - no longer are they Al Sandubrae's science project gone bad. IMO the recent addition of three former THV'ers has been a major reason for the upswing - KARK is promoting itself the way THV used to.

KARK gains ground because of that hottie Pete Thompson. He is easy on the eyes. Is he dating anyone?

the former thv'ers ar just doing what they have always done.being creative.thv doesn't own their creativity.take those same thv'ers and move them to another station and they would continue to be creative at whatever brand they are promoting,so would there still be claims that they are doing what thv used to?KARK's upswing is the product of a lot of good people in the right positions in all departments and it shows.

KLRT is not even on the radar doese anyone know were they are in the ratings game, i can see that they are left out.

KLRT had substantial gains above their growth projections in the last book. For such a new addition tot he market, they are doing extremely well. As a buyer, KLRT is still the best deal in town. Can't beat it.
