KATV Gets New Reporter
KATV has hired a new reporter. Kristin Fisher is her name. According to her bio, she comes from KJCT in Grand Junction, Colorado where she worked as a reporter/weekend anchor.

This little dove look better than Beth Hunt and i think Beth has met her match and so do the Michelle"Red Breasted Robin" Rupp and don't leave out the Buzzard Pam Smith!!!!( I love picking on Pam it is a good stress reliever!

KATV has a reputation for hiring hot women.... but not always good journalists. KARK has more quality reporters... and in Simas's case... she's a looker, too !

Now she's doing a late-night show on the Outdoor Channel called "Crossing Country." The premise of the show... three women put on TINY bikinis and do some sort of fishing or rock-climbing event for the cameras. That's it... I'm serious.
Sounds like a good show.... much better than KATV's morning show !!!! If I see Jason dress up in one more stupid outfit... while Beth nearly passes out from being dizzy... I'm gonna hurl !!!

Yea maybe! But, it's been many months since KATV made the decision to...among other things....can Julia Grayson for Beth Hunt. NO ONE has been able to provide a reasonable explanation to date!! I'm not saying I think Julia was better than Beth...although Julia certainly has a better reputation than Beth as a person!! I am saying at best they are equivalents.
The only theory to date that makes sense is that Beth was jealous that she wasn't an anchor and wanted the job...so she did whatever she had to do to get it!
I'm going to believe that....as will many others...until someone tells us differently who a. makes sense, and b. is clearly not Beth herself or one of her staunch defenders that frequently appear whenever she is criticized.
Isn't it interesting that while Daybreak was hit with massive change....Julia was the only on-air talent that was actually let go?
I'm not saying Julia was better than Beth...but no way is Beth actually better than Julia. They are pretty much equals.
Except...one has a rep for getting around and one does not! Guess which is which!!

Wow, I heard about this "blog" and some of the awful things some of you were saying about Beth. I couldn't believe somone would say something like that about her, so I had to take a look. It is amazing that some of you miserable people really don't have anything better to do other than bash a great person. Whoever posted those awful things about her has some jealousy issues or something. It's also amazing to me that those people are pretty chicken $hit as well. I have an idea.... Why don't you post your name on here, and so will I. We can arrange a time and place to meet and I can do some bashing on your face, and you can see what it feels like to have some courage, put yourself out there everyday, and get your a$$ whipped. Oh yeah, I forgot... You are probably some desk jockey, hiding behind your computer screen and keyboard showing your valiant bravery, bad-mouthing a beautiful person and talented anchor. Hey 12:54, I think for the first time the person you are into it with is a male. Us gals can get snappy, but we don't threaten violence.:) Plus, I don't see Beth coming out swinging! LOL
So that being said, is it Beth's boyfriend/husband/whatever who is constantly on here defending her? If so, I agree enough is enough from him. I too would like to know what KATV has to say about what was said in the boardroom that led to Julia being let go in favor of Beth?
Julia was offered a reporter job at KATV. She turned it down after her teary farewell on her last morning show. That pissed off the KATV brass by the way. You don't get a final show at KATV. You get the boot a day or two early. No "swan songs", I guess they're afraid you'll say something they don't like. Your last show is always a surprise so you don't have anything prepared.
I digress....
Julia said good-bye to the viewers and tendered her resignation. Told the brass where they could stick their reporting job.
Beth go promoted because she was mad about Munoz getting promoted to the 10 before her. She had been promised earlier that the job was hers, so to make her happy she got the wonderful morning gig.
1:48 THANKS! That's a good explanation of the aftermath of the decision...and I thank you for speaking on an objective, non-emotional level. Do you actually know why the decision was made to replace Julia as anchor in the first place....with the intent of moving her to reporter?
It's time to move on. Beth was offered a promotion and she took it. Who wouldn't? She didn't force anyone to offer her the job (do you really think that ANYONE over there has that kind of power? I mean, come on!) If the situation had been reversed you would all be bashing Julia. What a fair weather bunch. Beth is doing an excellent job. Excellent. Next topic.

2:57 poster- It's been about a year or so, and the prevailing theory was that Beth Hunt threatened to leave when Christina Munoz was promoted to 10p. anchor. According to Beth, she had long been promised an anchor position. I guess KATV powers felt like Julia was more expendible than Beth.
So to Beth and her "defenders"- don't play innocent! Julia was backstabbed. It was Beth Hunt's way without regard to anyone else. Sagging ratings were her vehicle to get what she wanted. But, it's all water under the bridge now. I know Julia likes her new gig with the Heart Association, but I wish she'd return to TV someday. Wouldn't it be justice for her to start anchoring mornings at a KATV competitor?:)
3:15- If you ask me- it was justice when the new Daybreak concept failed to an embarrassing degree, then Beth went preggie out of wedlock! I bet someone in the boardroom wish they could have some of those decisions back. Beth and her buddies might not like the outcome. But, hindsight is always 20/20.
So why do you guys think KATV execs are so loyal to Beth. Despite what she has done to their ratings first then reputation, she is their gal! Hmmmmmm in more than one way.
KATV execs have admirable yet sometimes stubborn loyalty to talent with Central Arkansas ties. Beth and Melinda are good examples. It will take Albritton coming in and making LONG overdue changes at all levels to get the ship back afloat.
The question is why does Melinda Mayo get to stick around?
Hell- over the past 10 years or so, KATV execs have made many more bad decisions than good when it comes to their news product. Their best days ratings-wise over that time period is when they've held steady. There has been no growth, just gradual decline. They should be ashamed. KATV was soooo good for so long. I agree with the previous poster that Albritton needs to come in and do something about it!!

If KATV is going to make a comeback, meaning getting back to news ratings dominance, I can promise you step one will be Albritton nuking current a.m. disasters they call Daybreak, GMA, and Midday. The only thing that may remain is the program names. None of the current AM talent are capable of "bringing back the glory." That's a guarantee!
who cares about KATV's management? In my opinion, the only people who would hate the management there would be disgruntled ex-employees, or somone who needs to go somewhere else, so they can be happy.

who cares about the Julia incident? I left a bad workplace once, and I wasn't even that upset about it a year later. I really got shafted. It sucks, but I got over it. I didn't hate the person that took the job behind me. It wasn't there fault, it was management. Beth had nothing to do with it. Get over it. Life sucks sometimes. That's LIFE!

Lest you forget - Steve Powell was also taken off Daybreak, because he sucked! Jason at least is entertaining.
If you knew anything about TV works you would understand that the people behind the scenes - managment, producers and directors have as much to do with ratings and what you see as anything else.
KATV has terrible producers and awful editing, because mangement won't interview, hire and pay truly talented people.
Beth is pretty and fun... Jason is funny and talented.. Melinda is smart and multi-faceted... but it's all opinion. And if yours is not nice.. why post it ?

Funny how KATVers act when the shoe is on the other foot. All they ever do on the corner of 4th and Main is point fingers and laugh. Why is Andy so damn heavy anyway?? I was looking at some of the videos in the KATV E-vault, and he was much, much skinnier then! What's the deal? It's not really a laughing matter.
Putting that aside, he and Gina really had chemistry and looked good together on set. Andy's anchoring doesn't enthrall me like it did back then.
