I wonder if Drew will still contract Charles out to mentor the new employees?

At 7:58 AM, June 06, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Let's hope Charles stays FAR, FAR away from the new Met. We certainly don't want him to ruin this one...

I think Charles' personality helped build the character of all the mets he ever worked with.

Of the few I've met, they all say the man taught him how to deal with difficult people, and helped them learn about meteorology in the same punch.

You guys know this is true.

Yes, it's true. Charles is now a blonde with a beard but after having the same hairdo for almost 10 years wouldn't you do something drastic too?

If you guys want to check out the church that Salser went to, here's their website www.lifechurch.tv , check it out, it's pretty amazing!

On a separate note, Salser is gone, he did great, was a great guy, who should be remembered for his contribution to the market. At least the guy tried to be a mentor, which says a lot about his character. Many don't do that, Leadership is risky. We never really know people is this biz, Good Luck Chuck!

To whoever posted the previous comment, know the whole story before you say such cruel things. Repeating crap like this destroys lives and is totally uncalled for. Get your facts straight!

True, he could have been trying to take pictures of wildlife

I know Justin personally and I also know the details as to this situation. Sad that people always think the worse. There are always two sides to every story. 40/29 should be sued for reporting on a story like this without talking to Justin after all he works for them. They should have had the courtesy to have at least talked to him before they slammed him. I hope he sues the crap out of all of you. If you know Justin at all you know there is more to this story however, it is much easier to say someone is guilty than to find the truth.

Justin needs prayers, not false acquisitions. God be with him thru this terrible embarassing time.

What kind of story can you have when you run through the woods barefoot to try and avoid getting caught with pictures of young girls in swimsuits on your camera? If that is being reported falsely - then I do feel for him, but if it is true - he cannot have a 'good reason' for it.

At 12:04 AM, June 14, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I know why but you obviously aren't worth the time to explain it to. Were you there? Last I heard no charges had been filed and therefore shouldn't have been put on the news until the facts were out. The truth will come out but the damage has been done and people like you who form opinions so fast won't care what the truth is anyway.
What do you mean by "young" girls, every boy in town probably has pictures of girls in swim suits on their picture taking cell phones. Did you see any pictures of girls on his camera? I doubt it. Where in the world did you get your facts about the story?
It was made into a bigger situation because of who he is.
Maybe he shouldn't have run however he did not run from the police.

At 3:07 AM, June 14, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I hate to say this, but I doubt police would have released details about the incident if they don't plan on charging him.
I take my hat off to 40/29 for having the forethought to publish this story about one of their own before the competition ran with it... they would have ran the story if it had been anyone else in the same situation.
The media shouldn't treat their own employees any different than they treat any member of the public... sometimes it doesn't happen that way.

Yes alot of guys have pictures of girls in bathing suits on their phone, but THEY'RE LEGAL AGE. I think it may be you who dont have your facts straight. No, I didnt see the pictures, but the police did, and they say "ages 4-12". No charges haven't been filed, but they expect to have an arrest warrant today. Yes I do have someone close to me that was right there when it happened. And while no I don't think that having pictures of little girls in bathing suits is %100 illegal. Taking pictures of said girls, while trying to hide that fact from the girls is illegal. Besides why would a man in his 20's want an assortment of pictures of preteen girls in bathing suits? Other than having a sick fascination and wanting to rub one out, I really cant think of another explanation. I don't think its possible to explain this one. And to seal it off, he ran, why would he run if he did nothing wrong, and thought so. One however may run if they thought they could delete incriminating eveidence before returning (which any tech savvy person knows that just because you delete something, doesnt mean it's gone) The guy is a sick man, and the people that are defending him are either dumb, or trying to keep him out of trouble so that he may take pictures of other little girls.

GOOD DAY SIR!!!

HEY JUSTIN... KEEP YOUR BUTTHOLE TIGHT!!

At 1:02 PM, June 14, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I too have someone close to me that was in fact there at the time that the crime was committed. Regardless of a person's fame the state has laws that have to be obeyed. If you are caught in such a situation you have 3 options;

(1) Admit to your actions and take the punishment like a man.
(2) Lie and try to mislead the cops.
(3) Run away, ironically like a little girl, and basically confirm your guilt.

At the end of the day people don't run from police unless they have done wrong. The missing British girl Madeleine has brought the issue of pedophiles to the forefront of the news, and its about time that serious action is taken to properly punish those that are a danger to our children and therefore our future.

I would be prepared to give you a fair trial, but at the end of the day you RAN and as such you deserve the persecution you are receiving.

First of all Justin did not run from the police. Second he was charged with misdamenor harassement nothing else. Third, the other news stations did not report due to lack of evidence at the time. Fourth, so far they have found NO picture on his camera or nowhere else!
People who believe everything they hear on the news are as bad as the reporters themselves.
INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty, that is why I live in America.
The sad thing is, no matter what happens people have all condemned a man, his career has been ruined, and he has lost friends. So even when it comes out that he is not into child pornography or anything along that line he will never be the same.
Sad that his friends at 40/29 and his Church assume the worst and are treating him like a criminal.
If he is proven guilty I would be the first to say he deserves this but I won't condemn him at this time.

At 5:16 PM, June 14, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

True....innocent until proven guilty. But, even though he didn't run from the "police", he did run from people when he was discovered doing whatever it was that he was doing. Now, I don't know about anyone else, but if I was him and didn't do anything wrong, then I would have stayed and stood my ground. If I felt that I was in danger of being attacked by the people at the pool due to a misunderstanding, I would have called 911 on my cell. But he left his car and ran into the woods! Not down the street for help, but into the woods. How do you explain that? And on the subject of what the media is doing...he works for the media. He of all people should know how the media works. And I do agree that it was best that his own employer run it first. If they didn't, then it might look even worse for him....like they were trying to cover something up and of course the other stations could have made it look even worse. We all watch those Cop shows...what does a cop think when they go to ask questions and the guy runs?! He thinks the guy did something and rightly so! I just hope that whatever the truth is, that it comes out soon before anyone else gets hurt.

At 11:04 PM, June 14, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Justin is no more guilty than anyone else who is arrested and reported onin the news... are you saying that the media shouldn't report on criminal cases until a person is convicted?
If you share that opinion than I'll give you this to chew on:
What responsibility does the media have to report crimes? Wouldn't you want to know if your neighbor was arrested for murder or if they carried a bodybag out of the house across the street?
Everyone wants to complain when the person is someone they know... the fact is that every person arrested has a mom and a dad... and others that love them.
You have to treat everyone the same... whether they are the drug dealer on the street or the morning weather man.

At 11:44 PM, June 14, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

yes he's innocent until proven guilty but in the story quote "A few minutes later, police said, he came out of the woods with cuts and bruises on his feet, and authorities seized his camera. Investigators said they found several photos of girls between the ages of 4 and 12 years old in their swimsuits."

so it sounds like they do have evidence. sad.

here's part of the article, sounds guilty to me.....

Police issued a search warrant on Povick’s camera Wednesday, and the police report stated officers found multiple images that coincided with allegations made by several girls who said they were photographed by Povick at the pool.

As of Thursday, police were able to identify one victim — an 11-year-old girl who made the initial complaint at the Creekmore pool on Tuesday. The victim was identified in an image allegedly captured by Povick.

I don't understand guys like that. He's certainly good looking and intelligent enough to dissect and interpret weather patterns then explain it to the rest of us, but why do people like him act so stupid?

While taking pictures at a public pool does not necessarily infringe on an individuals expectation of privacy, snapping shots of little children does raise other issues. If he really wanted to take pictures of wildlife or wanted to take action shots of people swimming or jumping into the pool, why didn't he ask if he could go in and take some pictures? He's known enough in the area that most people would've been happy to help him out.

Lurking about gives everyone the wrong impression, even if it wasn't meant to. Whatever the outcome is to this, I hope that he gets help and uses common sense from now on.

While it's hard not to accuse someone, resist. If the evidence supports his claims, then let him be; otherwise, run him out on a rail - but wait for the facts. Remeber the security guard involved in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic bombing? We all thought he was the man...and he wasn't.

The comment about his my space is totally stupid, everyone on my space has stupid pictures, even me.
It appears most every comment here is posted by people who read or saw on tv and no one that knows Justin personally.
I have neither read nor saw, I know Justin and believe what he has told me.
I know that the large amounts of pictures they say were on his camera WERE NOT THERE.
Justin resigned from his job, he wasn't FIRED.
They didn't have evidence to file any type of criminal charge so dropped it to a misdemenor harrasment which very possibly be dropped.
The sad thing is he has been damaged like all others who are assumed guilty because that is the way most people react and it is so stupid and so non Christian.

At 5:54 PM, June 15, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

It's all a big conspiracy, they got him to go get pictures of little girls swimming at the pool, and told him to try to hide the camera. And told him it was a secret project, so if he gets caught he should run. The police are lying about finding the pictures anyways, and 40/29 lied about firing him. That sounds pretty retarded to me. Maybe the people that know him personally, didn't know him as well as they thought. If I was a pedophile, I would try to hide that from everyone too. But he's a Christian and he wouldn't lie, God could strike him down.... riiiight

At 6:19 PM, June 15, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Oh dear, stupid comments from stupid people.
They did lie about finding the pictures, they said there were lots of pictures and they took his camera and there weren't any!
And of course the news never lies so let's believe everything 40/29 says because he works for them and they sure don't want to make it look like they knew him obviously!
God won't strike him down for lying, you need to learn about what God does, He doesn't react that way.

SOUNDS LIKE 40/29 HAS HAD THEIR SHARE OF SCANDAL LATELY...HMMM KNOW WHAT ABOUT THOSE MORAL CLAUSES IN THEIR CONTRACTS?

"God won't strike him down for lying"

Really? Try reading Acts 5:4-5 :0)

If he's a REAL Christian, he'll repent, accept forgiveness & grace, and learn from his mistake.

You can hide from the Creekmore Pool staff, the Fort Smith Police or even 40/29, but you can't hide from God. God's the only one who can undo this mess.

Weatherman Quits Station After Arrest In Connection Harassment Charge
Friday, June 15, 2007 9:24 AM CDT

This was reported in the media - again as I said before, he resigned, was not fired.
Get your facts straight!

This is just one more lie in the whole scene. It looks worse if they say they fired him. 40/29 is just trying to make theirselves out to be hero in this.

Again - Harassment - NOT Sexual harassment!

And yes, Justin is a Christian. Why would anyone make fun of that. I hope you are all Christian's and realize that you are not to judge.

So........... why would he run??

At 3:33 PM, June 16, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

So...some of us haven't been paying attention. Two men started chasing him on the way to his car! I would run to. He had marks on his face because they were grabbing at him. He ran to the Police for help. He didn't do anything wrong. The Police even told Channel 5 they hadn't found any pictures from the pool.

At 6:35 PM, June 17, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

40/29 never said they fired him. They said he is no longer employed by 40/29.
Quote .. "40/29 President and General Manager Jim Prestwood confirmed late Thursday that Povick is no longer employed by 40/29."
They probably asked for his resignation anyways.

Why are all of you posting anonymously?

By the way, there is no law against photographing people in a public place - there is no expectation of privacy.

If people approached him to complained, he could tell them to take a leap. If he felt threatened, he could have called for security or the police. Running away? Seems suspicious.

I think the original report was that 40/29 suspended him without pay pending further notice. He then resigned.

I'm at a loss for any understanding of why any adult man would want to go to a public park and then take photos of young girls that do not know him personally. That is not normal. Think of many of us would react if someone was taking pics of someone you cared about and you didn't know why they were doing so?

I enjoy taking photos and I'm sure that many others here do the same. But I would never do what Justin Povick did that afternoon!

I totally agree with harassment charges against him.
