Elkins Gone
I have received several e-mails from TV viewers in Northwest Arkansas letting me know Don Elkins is gone from KNWA. It was reported last month that Elkins would be leaving, but many had thought he'd stay til the end of June. One e-mailer says Neile Jones solo'd Thursday night with no mention of Elkins and the newscast intro has been edited. Another e-mailer says Elkin's bio and pic has been taken down off the KNWA website.

If he does, then he should legally change his name to "Fort Smith".
If he did that, he would officially be the coolest human being on the planet.
Of course, the viewers in the Ft. Smith market wouldn't be able to figure it out, but at least it would be neat to those of us who really don't take tv all that seriously to begin with.
elkins says he does not have any immediate plans right now. it was on his blog at arkansastonight.com. also, did anyone see charles salser's goodbye tonight on 40/29? really sappy. his last night will be thursday.
So does this mean his departure was involuntary?

Yep. Kailyn was a welcome addition to the 40/29 team. She will be missed.
Where's she going? I really didn't think she was that good, I just thought she'd be in this lousy market for a long time.

Hmmm, its so odd how people just move around. I used to live in poteau,Oklahoma and like to keep up on all those news guys. So, the most professional newscaster western arkansas had from about 1996to 2004 (when I lived in Poteau) was Don Elkins. I wonder what he's off to now?...
I met Craig Cannon, Steve Gibbs, had a signed photo of Jeff Constable (remember him? KFSM weather) and one of good ol Jay Hilgartner (may favourite weather guy of all time). I also met Austin Onek at a Ft. Smith science fair and we gave him...a tie I think? haha:) and I met Donna Bragg and Megan McHale to I think at the weather fair that Jay was at. Its been so long ago. Now I'm moved myself so i don't know whats going on. KCCI and WOI are the TVs here and I lived where KVOS,CityTV, and Channel M were TV for a while to...

It was a science fair (near that park off of Greenwood and Rogers?) and it was a tie. In fact, it was the red background with blue and green calculator buttons. I still wear it! Many thanks for that.
FYI: Jay Hilgartner is out of the TV biz and is now back living near his family around Baltimore
