At least he was smart enough not to blow.

We should place bets on which KFSM personality will be next to get arrested for DWI.

DWI's are becoming no big deal. The laws are so ridiculous now that most people at least know someone who has gotten one.

Since a prior KFMS anchor wasn't fired after her DWI, does that mean he's OK? And, if not, will KFSM be opening itself for a lawsuit if he's fired for one and she wasn't?

No one should ever be fired for a DWI. It's a minor offense and a misdemeanor. It's partly our fault as the media for domonizing DWI's and playing into MADD's aggenda.

According to you, "it's a minor offense." Well, don't you realize that it could kill someone? The 4th is a FELONY. DWI is a very serious offense. You need to grow up and wise up.

In 2012, more than 10,000 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes nationwide. I'm certain the relatives of those 10,000 victims don't take drunk driving lightly.

You are actually 3 times more likely to die in a crash without alcohol. The DWI propaganda is real.

I dont think anyone encourages drunk driving, but 11000 deaths were attributed to texting and driving in 2012. But for some reason the penalties & social shame aren't nearly as high. It's because MADD can't shake their fingers at them. It's time to decrease penalties for DWI's that were just given because it made a cop's night easier.

In 2010, more than 4,000 people were killed while jaywalking, while around 70,000 were injured. Do I support jaywalking? No. But would we publicly humiliate you for it? No. That is the point. Some of you finger-shakers are the ones who need to grow up.

This is a bad example, because he obviously did cause some harm in his one car accident. I don't know how drunk he was or wasn't, but you can't say in this case it was over-zealous cops.

That doesn't excuse the multitude of DWI's issued to people who were barely over the legal limit and causing no harm to anyone. That is was the problem is. There is no way to plead any of them down to careless driving or anything else, like there would be for far more serious crimes, like murder for example. The penalties are too stiff and the legal limit is too low.

You people talk about him losing his job over it... that is also a problem. How does that help anyone? DWI fines are very expensive. Taking away his income can only make matters worse.

Rumor is they fired him. Seems like a double standard with Ashley keeping her gig. No matter how you look at it. I would sue if it was me.

His bio's been removed from the 5news website.

How do they keep Ashley Beck after her well known publicized DWI and then turn around the next year and fire someone for getting a DWI . Doesn't sound like equal fair employment practices are being used. This could lead to a lawsuit. They should of suspended him for couple weeks and then bring him back after he spends several hours helping out at a local charity and apologizes.

i heard ashley was constantly out drinking with tim malone, who was also fired. seems like ashley must be down someone's pants....

Being charged with a DWI and being convicted of one are two very different things. If he plans to fight the charges, he should have his lawyer also file a wrongful termination suit against the station.

He's not as attractive as Ashley, wasn't a week-night anchor, didn't pull the ratings wagon - so yeah, it's easy - fire him. Follow the $. Works every time.

He's got a case for sure. I'd sue them and make them pay for discrimination. It's a time-honored way to make a little money in this business.

This is shameful. Your weeknight anchor got a DWI less than a year ago, and she is still on the desk.
I changed news stations!

Been two months and I hadn't noticed him missing from KFSM's hard-hitting weekend newscast. He's better off elsewhere. When he read as a news item that Taco Bell had added new selections to its menu, I realized that KFSM didn't give a damn about news content on weekends. I think they ought to give the whole half hour to sports and weather on their weekend slots.
