THV Looking for Evening Anchor
KTHV/Channel 11/Little Rock has posted a job opening on its website for an evening anchor position. Not sure who is leaving...I would be willing to say probably Craig would be moving back to the sports director position.

I sure hope they get someone who is a professional in the field and knows how to pronounce their vowels and consonants. They really need to set an example for everyone. Words like "important", not im-pour-dint, and "reported", not re-pour-did, and many others. Also, don't drop the letter "g", as in "going", not go-in, or "talking", not tal-kin. And learn not to use the word "like" for every fourth or fifth word in a sentence. These people come into our homes and need to set positive and professional examples for everyone's benefit.
Good, something desperate needs to be done.

Craig was on the morning show this morning.
Halfway there.
Liz is going to early evening, Craig to mornings and Ashley and Elyse at 10pm. Pam will probably go to the am shift also. Lauren Scott on weekends. That's how I see it
So the morning team will be Craig, Pam and Tom? Early evening will be Liz and a new male anchor? 10pm anchors will be Alyse and Ashley? Lauren Scott alone on weekends? If those are the new lineups im not impressed or happy.
Dawn and Liz from 5-7 pm. No male anchors!!!!
The idea of Liz and Dawn without a male anchor is not smart. Lose Liz. It is not working. A quality male anchor with a quality female anchor will always be the best way to increase numbers. There will be no complaints if those anchors are easy on the eyes.

Amen is all I have to say. Also, I would like to see an interview with an athlete without hearing, "you know" in every sentence by the person being interviewed and coaches referring to the players as "Ath-a-letes."
Of course I realize that today's colleges have more respect for their athletes than faculty that is teaching them the right way.
Craig was good on the early morning radio show he had about two decades ago.
If Ashley and Alyse are going to evenings they would not post an evening anchor position on the web. If you think they would put Pam on the morning show you need to have your head examined.
Pam doesn't need to be anywhere near an anchor desk, but who else do they have.
Lauren Scott is pretty, but she is too mousey and needs more time.
they should replace liz w/ pam - pam would be good on the morning show as well - so either or.
Pam is sounds like a valley girl and Lauren is better than Pam even now
THV is changing. The new GM is not stupid. The competition should beware.
Pam is good a reporting in the field, but she isn't a anchor, and can't interact with others, watching her toss to weather or sports is just painful. Bring in some new talent with some experience. Now's your chance to make right 11, don't mess it up.
Eh, no matter how much THV is changing, no station can change overnight. Unfortunately, they have a lot of contract problems in many anchor spots, and of course they hired all those green reporters that didn't know how to shoot or edit well. This ship will turn very slowly if at all.
Hasn't five years of female-only teams taught THV anything? People need a swinging you-know-what who has some news chops. It's not anti-woman-- people like to see a sample of real life although we all know local TV has little to do with real life.
THV has no contract problems. All contracts state that job duties/positions can change at management's discretion they simply can't change the salary.
If you are posting on here about somebody's faults, at least spell correctly or use proper grammar.

Shaking up the morning show @ THV... hmmmm. No mention of Tom. Is he leaving? With that new house, he needs a steady paycheck. Why did they have Craig on the other morning? He did well, but I thought that was odd - especially if he's moving back into the Sports Dir spot as some have suggested.
News chops? If we agree 7 hires the best big swinging you know whats, then the example would be hire the guys with sports chops and make them news anchors. (Inman and Kane)
Craig isn't a sports guy either. He is not a guy you can sit down and talk a variety of sports with. He can still Stump the State as why he is not on the morning show!!! Can't do sports, can't do hard news, so put him where he can best contribute. I like Craig, but.......
Put Craig on the morning show with Dawn & Tom.
Liz looked attractive during the 5:00 diaper drive. She should stick with high angle shots, they flatter her.
Dawn doesn't need to be anywhere near a morning show, and nothing about the way Liz looks is attractive. Hit the gym, Liz. You look awful. Janelle did a great job reporting tonight. I enjoy watching her. I'm told she is a shoe-in for the Saturday show.
THV doesn't have a sports opening on the web, but have a 10 pm anchor opening.

Liz because her weight gain and fast pace and Pam for a lot or reasons. No personality on air.
Craig belongs on mornings, the only place for him but who will they move and where?
I doubt they would move Alyse to anchor one of the other shows.
Here is the question, are they looking for a male or female anchor? I ask that because Stephanie Bryant would be great at night.

Stephanie would be good at night. Dawn would be good in the morning. She has the credibility to balance Craig. Plus she is a mom and she is fun. Have you ever seen Craig and Dawn together? They are a riot. I saw them hosting an event together one night. Plus if you watch them when they are together on the news they play off each other well.
Credibility? Is that why her show is in 3rd place? Clearly the audience loves her.
Y'all need to leave Dawn alone. She helped THV get to #1 on the 10 years before certain managers came and wrecked the place. She is one of the few things that place has going for it.

Janelle is a decent reporter but she is HORRIBLE on the desk. She will get the job on Saturday morning's because Roger won't sign a contract and Katherina is not a host but my god is Janelle a terrible host. Between Renee and Janelle i'm not sure who is worse.

How did this thread get hi-jacked back to the "Janelle vs. Katharina Saturday Daybreak Showdown?" Not that isn't entertaining to debate who's best qualified to host riveting segments of pumpkin carving, dog parties, and knitting patterns - but this was really 11's thread, and it's funny enough by itself.
I cant and dont watch newscasts with Pam B. She is ok as a reporter, but IMHO not as an anchor. LOVE and Miss Melissa Dunbar-Gates. Guess she is busy with the twins and new infant. Really like Stephanie Bryant!!! Do not like the Sports gal. She doesnt seem informed of the sports. Wish a wider varity of sports would be talked about. CH 11 is my channel tho. I like thv2 NO COMMERCIALS 2 thumbs up. Like Craig on the Morning show.
Liz Massey needs to get diff blazers, she wears same ones all time. Reminds me of a Granny Sweater you keep on a chair case you get a chill, instead of AN ANCHOR. Also whats with all the PERSONAL FAMILY STUFF all the time. Show someone else fishing, or someone elses kids ball team other than to promote Mark Edwards children. Granted they had high accomplishment, but if I want to watch family kid videos I have my own.. just saying
I use to be a loyal CH 11 Early Morning Show viewer. I can not stand Tom Brannon and his condasending ways. Yelling to the Directors in the booth while doing weather or whatever. It is not funny. He seems like someone who has been in a position for so long that he acts irreplaceable. Merideth doing reporting leave her there. She and her hair pulling self....All she has on her mind is her wedding. Good go do it..
I too remember when Tom was funny. Now it just seems like he's a pissy old guy throwing his weight around.

I got the chance to watch this morning and I loved Craig reading the news. Why be so worried about him reading hard news? If Alyse gets away with it then Craig can. two or three death stories a morning doesn't mean someone shouldnt be a NEWS anchor. Ridiculous.

No. Alyse is a star thanks to her crown. Why would they take her name off a show? That would be dumb. Management knows that. Alyse knows that. I doubt she is worried.
You THVers need to get back to work planning Meredith's wedding, Obviously you don't spend much time on producing a quality newscast.
The anchors are solid, but they don't have much support.
They have hired Matt Turner from KNWA. He starts Aug 1
If I had to look-but-not-touch Alyse and Ashley five mornings a week I would be grumpy, too.

Alyse and a solid young male anchor would be great for evenings on THV.
Alyse Eady has proven herself to be an excellent anchor, and I think she would be great for a evening position. She has that "it factor" that will enable her to be successful in the top markets. She'll definitely go very far in this industry!

Sorry but have to ask, why is it when its a story with an AA, most always its an AA reporter? It really makes me laugh! Like they are the only one who can do the story?!!!!

My understanding is that Matt Turner & Alyse Eady will be co-anchoring the evening broadcast. I think they'll make a great team.

5:12, you should probably be aware that every time you write in favor of Mark getting the job, you only remind us of why he doesn't deserve it. Your grammar is horrible, and your race bating doesn't scare anyone.
OR what if they don't give anyone a title. I'm sure they can do that.
Elyse Eady: Beauty Queen, news anchor. Are we going to see a ponytail everyday or a professional looking hairstyle to make her more credible??? I really do doubt it!!!!
Tom Brannon has never been funny. He's always come across as a disagreeable untalented jerk. Always fun to watch him stammer and bumble at golden corral at 5 am in front of a live audience of 4 people or standing in front of walmart with some goofy cop while some poor shlub wheels out 10 pallets of generic cereal.
I agree with 7:10, ponytails won't cut it anymore. Get a haircut that shows beauty, brains, and keeps the viewers attention on your face. Don't distract from that with long hair!!!!
I don't see credibility being a problem for Alyse. Surprisingly, she's doing a great job anchoring. I agree about the ponytail though. Take it down, Alyse, and cut your hair! Down is better in this business. Same advice goes for Jessica Dean with the length.
Both of them need new short haircuts. It wiill help the image and look more professional!!!
One more bad book and kark will make changes in personnel and haircuts I think!
I think Alyse Eady will follow in the steps of Kate Sullivan (NYC/Chicago & CBS Early Show), Christina McLarty (Entertainment Tonight/The Insider) & TJ Holmes (CNN & BET). As someone said earlier she's really good on camera, attractive, and she's already had national media attention. She'll definitely move on up the career ladder quickly and into a large market or national circuit.
I'm sure Alyse Eady will be crying into her pillow tonight because the hair stylists that comment here think her ponytail should go.
I have a feeling that Alyse's hair style has more to do with what time in the morning she has to wake up to get to work. She still looks great!

I think was Alyse was great on the weekend news! It was a much better broadcast, it had great flow to it and not nearly as much stumbling with works. Great Job.
Alyse looks better than any other female on morning tv with or without a ponytail. I don't think any of the others could put 1st runner up in Miss America on their resume. Please.
First runner up on a resume doesn't make you qualified to anchor a newscast.
I like Alyse a lot,a real lot, but first runner up means first place loser. I hope she makes it, if that is what she wants, but really outside of Arkansas she is really not remembered or that relevant. Often the winner isn't even remembered after a few years. But, on the other hand, I suppose you can lose and still come out the winner. Think Clay Aiken and Jennifer Hudson.
Caught some of the 10:00 news last night. Great job, Alyse. I like seeing young talent succeed.
Alyse is a natural in front of the camera. I know talent when I see it and trust me, she will go far! She has the potential for success in major markets.

Sarah is a welcome relief for THV weekends. She is still a little green, but she is getting better.
Meredith still seems uncomfortable on camera, just watch THV2 during the commercial breaks.
Overall, last night's local coverage on 4, 7 and 11 was horrible.

KTHV needs to hurry up and promote Alyse to the weekday evening anchor position. I think she just might be the best anchor in Arkansas.
Matt Turner and Alyse Eady on the desk together will be the difference if 11 makes a comeback. Both are attractive and fantastic on air. Alyse has improved a great deal since her debut and Mr. Turner is one of the most talented anchors out there. Many believe those two will become the best duo in Little Rock

I work at THV and there have been no whisperings of Alyse and Matt anchoring the evening news. Where do you folks come up with this stuff?
I don't think 12:29 was trying to be funny, but rather stating his or her opinion. Truthfully speaking, Alyse is really good at her job and in my opinion probably is one of the best anchors in Arkansas.
@ 2:24, I agree. I wasn't so certain about Alyse at first but she has definitely proven herself to be a really good anchor.
Matt Turner & Alyse Eady would be a great evening duo...I hope it happens.
It's not Dawn's fault that local news is lame on weekends. She was just filling in for the weekend girl.
Give Lauren Scott a chance at the weekend anchor desk!!! She is so much smoother than P. Baccam. Pam is not an anchor!!!
