Well it looks like it's finally gonna happen. KTAL/Shreveport Chief Met Todd Warren commented on his facebook page the debut of HD is gonna happen tomorrow!

Todd's robotic weather forecast: "A mixture of sunshine and clouds" in HD! Really? Today?
Wooh-Hoo!! Be still my beating heart. Now if they'll just get the audio mix right, I might actually stay tuned in for longer than 5 minutes.
Watching the B block now and newscast looks 100% better. I love the look and colors of the new graphics. They are the same as KARK and Arkansas Today which is the only thing I like about Arkansas Today. The only thing I don't like is the ticker and the time/temp bug isolated to the top corner. I also do not like the color of the set. I am not a KTBS red fan. I wish they had done all these improvements back when I worked there.
I agree with you 6:16. I love the looks of the new set and graphics package. Now I don't like the Razorback red in the set or the ticker either. I hated that ticker when I ran it, and I still hate it to this day. I'm glad to see they took the money they used to pay us in master control and put it towards creating something like this. It really does look good.

Anyone notice the ticker said it was 25 degrees!?
Yes I did, but its hard to see the time and temp part of the ticker in the top corner since my tv is SD. The whole thing looks great compared to what it was.
If KTAL can get some decent marketing, have some decent stories, they could become number 2 in the market. Or at the least, be competitive.
Maybe they were talking Celsius (lol). The best thing KTAL could do is dilute the leads KTBS & KTAL have in the mkt. as the ratings/share pts between the two aren't all that significant. For KTAL to become #2...it will take a lot more than a new set and clear HD signal. They'll keep more viewers than previously but don't hold your breath. One of the big reasons people tune in is on-air staff and a lot of people are turned off by some of the folks they currently have on-air at KTAL.
Your right about that. There are only three on-air people I like at KTAL. The rest make me instantly mute and/or change the channel. Aren't there any contracts ending soon?
Nick is a good addition and almost balances out the crazy but other than that anchors dont really stick out. Who do you mean @2:48?
@4:20 I mean the diva. Time to move on. Nick, Brandon, and Patrick are the only three I like. I do not like any of the others.
Maybe KTAL will usher in 3-D newscasts, they already have a cartoonish avatar for an anchor ;)

Come to think of it, she does sound like one of Seth Green's animated characters. Painful to watch her speak, my jaws start to ache just watching the over-enunciation.

No, actually its both. I know, I worked at KTAL before, during, and after, their first round of lay offs in 2009.
