Good to know. BTW, do you have any local numbers on the Shreveport-Texarkana stations as far as local news is concerned? We keep hearing a lot about Little Rock stations but practically zip about Shreveport-Texarkana. Would be interesting to see how they stack up as both KSLA & KTBS seem to promote "Number #1 spots".
Thanks!

I am 41 years old and I know no one who watches Nightline or have ever had a discussion about it at work. I think these numbers are bogus.

I don't doubt that at all 5:00 PM, but those ratings are not bogus. They are nationwide ratings, not local ratings.

I am 46 and I have been watching Nightline since it was created during the Iranian Hostage Crisis when I was in 8th grade. I also used to personally air Nightline when I worked for KAQY ABC 11 Monroe/El Dorado/Vicksburg.

I watch Nightline on occasion but not as much as I once did.

Same here. By that time of night I'm usually ready for a laugh so I'll watch The Tonight Show or The Colbert Report depending on who's on.

We shouldn't be surprised by NBC's Today ratings. They show used to be the best by far, but it has become way too light on news. After about 15 minutes into the show, it becomes nothing but fashion, cooking and hollywood gossip. CBS was smart to counter that with more news in the morning. I've never watched CBS This Morning until recently. They were smart to counter NBC with more news. I hope NBC learns from its mistake and gets back to its roots. The talent is much better on NBC Today. However, the jury is still out on Ann Curry.

I agree with most of the previous post but Ann Curry is doing just fine. She has been on Today and Dateline combined for like 10 or 15 years. The best thing NBC could do would be eliminate the 4th hour of Today and give that time back to the local affiliates. Keep Hoda, she is ok, but that Kathy Lee SUCKS! Her drunk ass brings that whole show down. Besides 4 hours is entirely to long for a morning show anyway.

Glad to see Letterman running quite a ways behind Leno. Letterman is one of the left-coast liberals even though he has been on the East coast for years.

Letterman's from Indiana not California. I've never liked Letterman myself, but since you don't now I do.

10:29 is dead on. Get rid of Kathy Lee and that fourth hour of Today. We could always use more avails since we only get about 6 avails during that whole hour.

You got my vote 10:29 and 6:31.

WOW, 16 years at #1 is an amazing run. Since the numbers are not that far off its time for a little tweaking. NBC can start by taking the previous suggestions about getting rid of Kathy Lee and give that fourth hour back to the local stations. My station has the inventory and could really use the extra avails an hour long syndicated show would provide.

Matt was off the week NBC lost in the ratings, but Ann was there. Bingo. Ann is better at straight news. They need to move her to Dateline as the perm host. The lighter fair is not her forte. I never watch the 4th hr. I'm a View watcher. But I do agree, Kathy Lee grates on my nerves. I've don't believe I have ever watched Nightline other than stopping for a few seconds when I'm clicking by.

Speaking of grating on nerves, I have to skip out on The View when the ladies get on their rants. I love the show but some days its just to much to deal with.

Never really got Kathy Lee's appeal. She was fine when she was on Regis as they played ok as a team. But she & Hoda.... ehhhh.... not so much. I recall seeing an episode where both of them were rattling off soo much to this cooking expert that he lost it... saying there's "too much talking! Lettme explain...PUHLEEZE!!" I swear these ladies need a valium sometimes.

I love Pam Baccam's new hair style.
Makes her look smoking hot.
Ashley's hair was rockin' this morning, too.

Ok $500 (KATV morning show) or a coffee mug (THV morning show). Which would you rather in on Wednesday's in May?! No comparison.

At 11:53 AM, April 28, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

KATV figured out they have to buy their viewers for ratings. November it was $1000, Feb. nothing much and ratings suffered, May $500 a week and gas cards, I'm sure they will win. Gannett won't "stunt" like that for a book. Not that they shouldn't, they just don't.

At 5:58 PM, April 28, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I work at KATV and I know for a fact that the morning crew was shocked to lose the 4:30 and 5 a.m. to Chan 11. They don't won't it to happen again so they are throwing money at viewers in the hopes that it will work. It probably will for a book or two but management isn't so thrilled with the work ethic of all members of the team. Interesting tidbit.

At 12:10 PM, April 29, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

If they were that shocked then that proves their arrogance. Nobody should think they have it sewn up.

At 1:23 PM, April 29, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Gannett doesn't have the money to stunt like that, but the morning crew at THV has a very strong work ethic. 1/3 of that team works particularlly hard and always has worked hard. Also, all three of them genuinely like each other too. And that can't hurt.

1/3? What?

At 7:20 PM, April 29, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

5:58 is full of crap.

At 7:54 PM, April 29, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Really? If you think so, you are probably the one with a bad work ethic that they're talking about.

At 8:36 AM, April 30, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

If I were management at KATV I would be tired of having to budget large sums of cash to buy viewers. Fun prizes are one thing, but cash is paying a viewer to watch during a book. Bottom line. Unethical.

Booo-hooo-hooo.

At 10:24 AM, April 30, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

They would have to do it all year, even outside of a ratings period, for it not to be unethical. 7, get your checkbook out.
