Just Shoot the Messenger...

Wow what a story the Bobby Petrino motorcycle wreck has become. In hearing folks talk about it today a lot of the folks were shooting down the media. I heard one guy today say why did the media have to report it. He questioned whether if this was really "news". Then you read all over the social media sites how folks blame the media for just spreading rumors and not facts. Sometimes folks just want to live in their own little perfect world. But Hog fans...don't shoot the messenger!

People who blame the media are dumb. It is there job to report this kind of stuff, especially since we treat the Razorbacks like gods. I don't want him to lose his job, but if this were to happen any where else the people in this state would be calling for his head.

If he was any other public figure, people would be calling for his head. But since he is THE RAZORBACKS coach, the rules are different. We should all just butt out & let he & his wife settle it.

Hypocrites.

5:40 and 8:38 are 100% correct. Folks here think the rules don't apply to the Razorbacks. If the same thing happened to Mike Huckabee when he was still in office you would be protesting in front of the governors mansion and have a recall petition started by now.

It is the won loss record. If he had won fewer games all fans would be calling for his head. Since he coached the team to the top five last year, many fans want to go ostrich on the story.

I think the TV stations in Little Rock are being fair in their coverage of this escapade. It is a complete 180 compared to the Ric Schaeffer, Bo Mattingly, Dudley Dawson, and Clay Henry festival of love for Bobby P and denial of the facts on their radio programs. How these Ric and Bo can profess their faith but yet give Bobby P a pass is beyond me. Are they paid by the UA? Are they afraid they will lose their privileges to the Kingdom of Hog? Completely disgusting to me.

Did any members of media types know about the affair?
I was just at a site where they are saying the media knew about the affair but were keeping it on the down-low. Just wondering?

Sorry, I was trying to write, "Did any members of you media types know about the affair?

I can predict Ric Schaeffer's opinion on everything UA related. Heck he said it on the air friday himself. He said if they keep Bobby he'll cheer and say he's a great coach - but if they fire him, he'll say that's ok we can find another good one. Basically whatever the UA does, he'll cheer. He's nothing more than UA cheer captain, I've never heard him criticize any decision they've made.

Petrino lied to his boss and the taxpayers. Yes, he lied to the people who pay his salary. He is the highest-paid state employee.

Ole Frank will not let them fire him because of his winning seasons. They had rather have a winning football team than do what they should do and fire him for not telling the truth. Is he stupid enough to think that the State Police report would not be made public. Remember, there are a lot more people that aren't fans of the Hogs than are.

It amazes me how many people do not know the difference between "their" and "there".

I learned the difference in the 1st grade. I just don't get it...

What does that tell you about our educational system?

Well, anonymous, that just shows that the poster was a television writer instead of a print journalist. TV writers don't have to know how to spell correctly.

Do you ever read the newspaper? I find more misspellings and grammatical errors in the Dem Gaz every single day.

At 11:02 AM, April 10, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Isn't that the truth. We rely to much on Spell Check and Spell Correct, which are not 100% correct.

The poster at 11:17p didn't say print journalist never misspell. Just said TV journalist don't have to know how. How many words have you seen misspelled on the Teleprompt?

OMG! What are we going to do now? What about the team? What if we don't win many games this year? I am so distraught over this.

At 10:57 PM, April 10, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Petrino fired and no buy out. Now that's what I call a deal. Jeff Long made the right call on this one. Petrino must have ticked off ole Frank too.

This is exactly what Bobby's smug, arrogant ass deserves.

It's done. Now lets move on.

At 10:39 PM, April 13, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Oh, no it's not done. What did you think of the texts that ole Bobby sent to his boss and other persons on his staff? Can't wait to see the ones that were sent, via his state-paid-for phone to his girly.

And this guy was a college graduate? Does he know know that text messages are forever?

We don't care! We are tired of this whole story. Next!

The Hogs football program will take years to recover from what this person did.

Oh well!

Maybe they will now have to play ASU whether ole Frank likes it or not. Playing only one game in LR is not a good move either. Oh well.

Petrino's actions may have cost him his job at the U of A, but they do qualify him to be the GM at KATV.

At 11:18 AM, April 16, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

That's probably true of most of the GM's I worked with.

At 11:38 AM, April 17, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

That's an odd shot. Current GM or former?

At 2:09 PM, April 17, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Don't know about anyone else but in the last 10 yrs, there have been at least 5 TV higher-ups in the S'port mkt who wound up dipping their ladle in the talent pool. Two of whom wound up with paternity issues.

At 2:19 PM, April 17, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

One of whom went for being a GM in Shreveport with a huge house in the gated community of Southern Trace with a membership at Southern Trace Country Club, to losing that house to foreclosure and currently selling cars in Dallas.

That's not a very well kept secret about the former GM at KATV...Far as I know "she" was research director, and has scooted around to different areas, before being passed over for head of marketing/sales ads.

At 9:34 AM, April 18, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Oh really? I didn't know about that last part about being passed over. Karma strikes again.

At 8:23 AM, April 20, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

pretty sure "she" is still there and in a management role.

I guess things like that can slide, and not be spoken too much about with the lid kept on tight- when you have top ratings and can benefit from doing nothing other than researching the neilsen numbers a few times a year. From what we can see down here, she doesn't engage or actively pursue sales ideas, strategeies, new trends, or work well with ANYBODY @ Circle 7. Somehow she landed in sales, but was passed up for further adventuires in station leadership- specifically with sales-I agree, Karma, along with The quiet, awkard, and cold approach she displays to anyone in our building don help. She seems to be doin alllllright.

At 5:34 AM, April 26, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Karma that she wasn't picked for head of sales at 7, thats true to defintion and perfect example of not to expect a promotion due to longeiveity. Sometimes seniority means your just old, not due, and not good.. Her being sales "boss" That would be a diaster.

I've worked with folks at stations who had 1 year of experience 14 times!

At 5:29 AM, May 04, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Circle 7 has had quite the junuior high school experience with her leading factions of the sales department. Allergedly, she and the former partner in crime- co sales guy- she worked with didn't have the best chemistry or relationships with sales team. Made christmas parties interesting! Haha. "She" allegedly went crazy on all staff at a end of year party recently. Allegedly. Insecurity?!

Yeah, thats a pretty accurate description of the situation.
