KLRT Knows Weather!

Source: KLRT Press Release WeatheRate, the Nation’s only independent weather forecast research firm, has bestowed it’s “most accurate weather forecast” seal of approval upon FOX16 for their most recent annual measurement cycle.

WeatheRate independently verifies the accuracy of daily TV weather forecasts across the country. FOX16 was determined to be the most accurate Little Rock TV station in a station-by-station comparison over a 52 week period. FOX16’s weather team is anchored by Chief Meteorologist Jeff Baskin and Meteorologist Chad Garneau. Both meteorologists are AMS Certified and can be found on FOX16 News @ 5, 5:30, 9, and 10 and anytime on FOX16.com and our FOX16 mobile App.

“People rely heavily upon local TV meteorologists to keep their families safe and to plan outdoor activities," said FOX16 News Director Ed Trauschke, "but how do you know who’s the most accurate? Now, for the first time, Central Arkansas viewers can be assured they’re getting the most accurate weather forecast in Arkansas…guaranteed!”

Chuck Spohn, Vice President and General Manager, said this about FOX16’s WeatheRate Seal of Approval: “I had a pretty strong sense that our FOX16 Weather Team was presenting some really solid weather data, but was pleasantly surprised to see an independent firm verify my personal observations.”

Jeff Baskin is Chief Meteorologist for FOX16 News. Jeff brings more than 15 years of experience forecasting all type

Yep, we had the opportunity to buy the "weather rate" seal, we turned it down. I guess Fox coughed up the cash.

Weatherate seems like a legit deal. Good job to FOX for following through for a year and also to Newport for shelling out the thousands of dollars it costs for promotional rights. It looks like each station has to sign up and submit each day's forecast? Is that right? It also looks like FOX 16 was the only station in LR to sign up and submit data last year? Is that true? So really, how could they not have been rated Most Accurate? Don't get me wrong, it's great promotionaly but then why not disclose where the other stations fell on that list... Oh they can't because no other station did it.

And besides... no viewer in Arkansas is gonna switch to FOX 16 from Channel 7. Claim you're accurate all you want FOX 16 but viewers hate Baskin... he's a dork. They love Ned because he's great and has been here forever. He's not just the flavor of the month. Sorry.

For 350 weather days out of the year, close is good enough for me. If you tell me it's going to be 75 and it's actually 78, I'm not going to hold it against you.

Might help if WeatherRate actually listed Fox16 as "certified"

http://www.weatherate.com/stations.html

they have a poor website, but still don't list anyone one in Little Rock that bought their service

Intellicast is the best wx site. Gives the speed, direction and height of the storm clouds.

Also, speaking of weather, why is Ned Perme's face tanned and his hands so white?

Ha ha ha ha .. I would be embarrassed to have my name associated with these people. Look at the photo they use for the "weather professionals" page. That technology reminds me of a Smithsonian exhibit of the early days of NASA. Is that an MS DOS machine?

I used to work in SC and I know that we had the opportunity to buy a weatherate seal of approval. It may be more legit now...but I can't put much stock in it.

Weather rate is for sale. They hit everbody in the market and jump at the first person to buy it. It doesn't mean squat.

He Fox 16 how much are you paying to be "certified?"

Just google them. It's a joke. Other markets have discontinued them after finding out that they are for sale. Bad reflection on the organization.

Yeah, I rely upon the TV weather guessers to keep my family safe. That is why I worship at the First Church of Television Meterology. This man should get an award for "Biggest Delusions of Grandeur"

Fox 16 is the premier weather information location. A set that is easy-on-the-eye and does not distract the viewer. Clear, concise weather forecasting. Short and to the point and the station's ability to fill a complete hour of news without having to get their assignments off a scanner. Now that's television news!
