KATV Leads the Pack in February Book
All but one time slot was won by KATV, Channel 7 in the February ratings book. According to ratings number published by Arkansas Business.com KTHV, Channel 11 won only time slot, at 5am. To view all the numbers visit the ratings chart.

Wow! KARK is really stinking it up. I guess viewers choose Pat and Vanna over Bob and Jessica. I think Bob and Jessica are great.
THV needs an overhaul at 5, 6 and 10 PM.

I really don't like 11s morning show. The girls are fine together but their chemistry with Ton is often cringe worthy.

Ashley looked spectacular this morning. Alyse, too. Tom looked dapper in the tuxedo. I think their chemistry is great. It should be a little awkward at times in a funny way due to the age, gender, and marital ststus differences. The Weather Garden needs more lighting.
Hey, 11:11, What are we waiting for at channel 11? Are you sure you aren't trying to start some trouble for the 11 morning crew. Maybe you are just a little older and a tad bit jealous. These girls for now are young, and a lot of the old TV gals in Little Rock, morning and evening, may just be a little jealous because they are older. That is just the nature of the business. For the moment these girls are young and fun and have actually been a breath of fresh air for 11's morning show and ole Tom. Their time will pass too, but for now they are the IT Team.

I've seen many news teams come and go through our market. Each one of the morning shows offers something different. 4 is straight news. 11 is entertaining. And 7 is just raw tradition. Not too bad for our size market.
I agree that Ashley is incredible. She is the best looking reporter/anchor in Little Rock.
The girl can dance, too.
I just don't get it why 7 is winning everything. They have fired so many people and are running on a thin line and have been for so many years.
I cannot watch 7 at all. The news team seems old and worn out to me.
Nothing but 50+ somethings to look at. No cute girls, no great looking guys.
I have NO IDEA what 4 is doing. I like their sets a lot, but the crew seems to be kinda washed out with the exception of Jessica. She is freaking awesome. Their website should say "Who Cares?" instead of "Arkansas Matters".
Oh well, it won't be long before they won't need live reporters, CGI is catching up... Someday they will all be Max Headroom types.

I actually like 11s morning team but I always laugh whenever there is one negative comment about THVs morning show and it is followed by a bunch of mean spirited and overly defensive posts on here. You need to relax...you sound desperate and pathetic.

A year ago management wanted to put weekender Pam on 11's morning show with Alyse instead of Ashley. Ther first choice was Dawn, but she turned them down.
third choice was Ashley.

Seem like KATV is the only station that can get a decent picture out of Fayetteville. KARK using pillars and video looks worse than KTHV's Weather Garden camra. You would think that with a sister station in NW Arkansas, KARK could get a HD picture.
It's because none of the NWA stations are HD.
I don't work at 7 or 11 but there is no doubt 11 commenters make the most defensive posts. It's pretty obvious. Also THVers freely admit this blog is a topic of conversation in their newsroom, it started in the Audas era.
KATV had the same feed that ESPN was using . . . HD. How did that happen?

Ok I work at KARK and this is just getting ridiculous. I don't know Alyse personally, but I've seen her on tv and she's far from chunky. Actually, IMO she is one if the prettiest gals on LR news (along with Wendy and Mallory, respectively.) Someone is just trying to start drama on here and it's safe to say they probably work at KATV.
Who has been anchoring with Mallory since Wendy is on maternity leave?

Back to the original comment. Let's be honest. Jessica just doesn't have it. But she's got a good contract, it will be tough to get rid of her. Perhaps move her to the morning show as a hint?

You are right about KARK. They just sent out a bulletin on my phone that said... "The National Weather Service has issued a tornado WARNING for the majority of the state including central Arkansas until midnight." That must be one big tornado! And they call themselves "The Weather Authority?" Someone needs to explain all the new people the difference between a watch and a warning.
I see a lot more defensive comments about THV and 4 on here than 7 and Fox. I wonder why that is.
KARK was displaying "Tornado Watch" on their NBC program that aired from 7p to 8p but did not say where. No map, no nuthin'. It just read, "Tornado Watch"

Yeah, imagine that. Like we didn't know what those things have been used for for decades. That is really going "in depth" to get at the meat of the story. Good job.
I did notice the misspelled graphics on KARK Sunday night during the bad weather. Someone had placed "DOPPLAR Radar" (should be Doppler) on the very prominent banner. Stayed on there a very long time.
Your weather authority needs to authorize a spell-check.

I cannot believe that KARK showed video of the couple wrongly accused in the El Chico murder. They were let go within minutes of being arrested. Will not watch 4 again unless they get their act together.
Just wondering if that guy wearing the lab coat and in the latest Ron Sherman Royal Windows and Siding commercial is the old KATV personality, Cal Dring. Sure looks like him.

Hey, it's easy news gathering. Listen to the scanner for a shooting, robbery, wreck (fatal)and respond. What are the stations going to do when the police go digital and secure?
KARK is suffering from, well, lack of training I believe. It is evidenced in their news presentation and behind-the-scenes screw ups that would not be tolerated in a big market. Then again . . .
When LR, NLR & Jacksonville switch over to the AWIN system, the public will still be able to scan them. It's digital but most traffic is not scrambled. You will however need a $500 scanner that does digital to listen.
They will be using same network as the AR State Police. If you can hear the State Police on your current scanner, you will hear the local cops in 2013 if you spend a few minutes programming the new channels in.
Love THV in the morning, love KATV in the evening.

I don't think there's a bad morning show here. But Channel 7 was better off before Alyson Courtney. She has the most annoying voice and cocky attitude. None of the ladies in my office can stand to watch her. Melinda is a different story though. Down to earth and seems to have a good personality.
When Alyson was at 11 she was winning the ratings war, and now at 7, she's winning again. Annoying or not, she's a winner.
7 beat 11 in ratings when Alyson was there. She definitely isn't a ratings slam dunk. Melinda is holding up 7's morning show now. Thank goodness for her.
Alyson didn't create channel 11's winning numbers. It was BJ, Robin and Tom. It's just taken awhile for people to find the remote control. Viewer habit is very hard to break.
Guess they didn't deem her valuable enough to keep.
11 tried to keep her but 7 outbid them. That being said I'm not a big AC fan but to each their own.

Alyson is worth every penny they are paying her. If it true,7 out bid 11 to get her,that must mean they are getting the morning crew at 11 for cheap, especially Alyse who had no experience with TV when Audas hired her. I do think it is interesting that he hired her and then resigned a day or two later. That whole situation is interesting.
There's no way to know for sure, but I strongly doubt anyone on 11's morning team is paid poorly. And if you believe the rumor mill, Alyse is paid more than Alyson ever was at 11. Id be mad that a 26 year old with no experience was offered more than they were willing to pay to keep her. But it looks like Alyson has a good gig at 7.
Alyse brings a lot to TV that may be more valuable than experience. She brings monority status, celebrity status as first runner up to Miss America, her staus as as a native Arkansasan, and her interesting rags to riches story as an adoptee from the state welfare system. People like that sort of home grown story. AC is great and brings experience, but it is hard to compete with a story like Alyse's story. Face it if she had won Miss America, she would have had tremendous oportunities, and KTHV would be small potatoes. In some ways, she may be actually very disappointed with the morning showjob because the brass ring was almost within her grasp. THV management is probably thrilled to have her.

Why is Stefanie Bryant at THV so underutilized? What is it we viewers don't know that keeps them from promoting her. She would be great on the 5 pm.
