Here Today...Gone Tomorrow...

A tipster tells ATN KTBS, Channel 3, Shreveport, anchor Trish Williford turned in her notice and the bosses immediately pulled her from the anchor desk.

Don't have a problem with that. She is no longer committed to the station, so why should they commit to her? Besides, she'd probably rather be packing to leave anyway.

Yeah..really who cares? One less check for KTBS to cut. Guess they'll get Casey Ferrand to anchor the KPXJ 9pm in her place, which will be an improvement.

I actually liked Trish and thought she was a great addition to 3's all white boring cast. Guess I'll switch to 12.

So do you watch TV news on the basis of the racial make-up of their on-air staff?

No, I don't watch Tv news just because of the racial makeup. But, channel 3 is known throughout the community for their failure to hire blacks. That's why most blacks don't watch them and won't advertise with them. The fact that the station scatters a couple of blacks on their air every few years doesn't fool anyone. I watched Trish Wiliford and Gwen Campbell because they were both good journalists. It's obvious 3 doesn't believe in diversity, therefore, I won't watch anymore.

Sorry but I have to disagree with your comment that "Gwen Campbell...was a good journalist". She spent an inordinate amount of time on education stories and couldn't put a package together under 2 minutes long. Many at KTBS felt she went a bit too far with stories that basically became PR bits for Ollie Tyler the Caddo Superintendent... other reporters would complain about having to go back and trim their stories because her pieces would turnout too long and were "too important" for PR reasons. Nope...no way Gwen was a good journalist...a PR hack..yeah..Journalist...nope.
Maybe she was bucking for a PR gig at Caddo Schools...and today she won't return calls to reporters in a timely manner about stories concerning the mayor's office.

Racial?? I've seen non-white anchors at KTBS before..I haven't a clue what you're talking about. Oh and by the way, if you choose to watch KSLA...have fun watching StormTracker Dorky Steve break into E.V.E.R.Y. show out there!

I stopped watching local news in Shreveport years ago and have no plans of ever watching again.

Ditto... I never intentionally watch local news...most of the newscasts come off as being too dopey and big-market-wannabe's.
I catch national news..and then do something else. Might catch the first 5 minutes of local but then I realize.."what a waste of time" and go do something else.
