KATV Revamps Website

KATV.com received a facelift over the past week. It's somewhat better than the previous version. If it was me I would have more top stories featured at the top. Still have to say Channel 11's website is the best in the Little Rock market.

have you seen how many stories KARK posts each weekday? Is 40 enough?

Well at least Channel 7 is trying to improve something! They should work on their newscast a bit! The product is dreadful. What happened to that station over the past 2 years or so?

Circle 7 is not what it used to be! Any one of the other 3 could become the leader in the market.

There's only one reason people watch channel 7...ned perme! Even he's not special anymore. Channel 7 viewers need to make a switch for one day and watch any of the others. 7 sucks all the around. from the amateur reporters to the the morning show has become so dreadful it's pathetic. and the newscasts are even worse..just one big funeral march.

someone is obsessed with 7. That is the second recent post to use the term "funeral march." we get it you're not a 7 fan. now relax!

Thank you FOX 16 employee! Is this what this business has become? Blogging about the best website? If this was 2003 I'd be happy with 7's site! It seems like everyone else (not 7) is using the web more as a good platform for everything else like texting and mobile. Welcome to 2010 and beyond Channel 7, it's nice over here, you should try it!

How come ned's face is tanned and his hands are white. Sort of reminds me of ole Tom Boner on KARK.

FYI. KATV is not the market leader anymore. Not in what counts look at the demos. At best they're tied with KTHV in key demos, in most of them they're getting beat and losing ground every ratings period. And once Oprah goes away look for their afternoon news to start eroding quickly, too.

KATV has been too arrogant for too long. Instead of changing with the landscape they buried their head in the sand and the Big Pard fiddled while his empire burned to the ground.

Where is ole Pard now?

as long as there are no pop-ups like kthv's website, it's all good with me.

what i really really hate, is the way ch 7's set looks. the sunset color gradient background is not doing it for me. no depth, nothing exciting or special. really really sucks.

Yeah, sort of reminds me of a funeral. You know, sunset.

What they need is a big photo of LR from the NLR side of the river. That has not been done before, has it. [roll eyes]

Channel 7 has the best weather, hands down. Especially during tornado outbreaks. Has anyone watched Channel 11 during a tornado outbreak? It's seriously frightening that some people rely on them to stay safe.

As for sports, Channel 4 is the winner there for the Razorback coverage.

As for news...I'd say they're all about tied (NOT including Fox16's amateur hour).

For the Shreveport area, 3 has the best weather coverage. 12 may break in all the time but all they do is scare people. 6 has good local stories, while 3 and 12 are more CNNish.

All of 'em are cookie cutter Web sites powered by WorldNow or IBS or such. When was the last time a TV station had a good, quality Web site made in-house

Seriously... Who cares about websites anymore? Isn't it all about social networking and mobile?

really channel 11 the worst during severe weather? I find just the opposite. the 11 weather team is top notch, except for meredith mitchell who I could use alot less of.

Whenever I flip over to 11, it's Ed Buckner by himself trying to keep up with all the new developments. And their radar is terrible. So having 1 guy trying to follow all the supercells with an inferior radar makes for subpar performance in my opinion.

I have no steak in the news business (as I'm assuming most here do), I'm just some dude that watches.

Good grief, this is 2010. There are pop-up blockers available for that horrible Internet Explorer plus Firefox has built-in pop-up blocking.

No one in this market, nor most local stations do sites "in-house". Take KARK's, most the Nexstar sites have the silly "(insertnamehere)homepage.net" with the same basic layout.

So it is with the Lost Spirit Of Arkansas. Some new eyecandy, but same old Mayberry RFD In Drag modus operandi.

Somebody needs to wake ole Pard up and get him a lifeboat as the good ship KATV founders on the rocks of chaos, again.
