David is probably the most talented guy I've ever had the pleasure to work with in television. It's great to see fantastic things happens to fantastic people. Congratulations David, you deserve it!

When he was there KATV was a force. What about the rumor that Dale was meeting with THV's promotion manager last week? If Dale could come up with enough dough, it might make a difference in their sliding numbers. It makes sense to try to get someone with a track record and pull steam from the competition. For sure KATV's marketing has been defocused since Hershey left there, and Dale has botched things by trying to do it himself. imagine KATV with KTHV's promotion....Is he finally admitting it and looking for solutions and willing to pay for it? Interesting....I'm happy for David and believe he is deserving of any advancements he can muster.

If I was Dale, I'd be looking to the team closer to the state capitol building.

Nothing personal, but nothing special on Izard Street.

They should also be looking at the GM closer to the Capitol.

It's not just KATV's promotion... using a different graphic style (supers and such) for every newscast is a curious decision, to say the least.

Geez, you people act as if the producer and promotions guys make or break a station. Do the on air talent get any credit for ratings at all any more? Average viewers could give a rip about who has a better commercial to promote their news if they don't care for the talent delivering it.

I disagree. 7 is still the main competition for THV. Sure Rick can muster emotion in the staff "closer to the capitol" but there's a long term deal called establishing, building and then retaining. Rickey's list of jobs over the last 10 years shows a pattern that 7 & 11's consistant efforts will outlast. He'll be off again and doing team building somewhere else. Say what you want about promotion...katv never built itself from a promotion's standpoing, after "super 7"...they were established....Hershey solidified things...kept them on top while he was there...If you ever really worked with or against David, you'd realize promotion is an extremely important element of change...

thv's another story. it was a marketing trip...all secured by the best and "most consistant talent over the years"...
GET IT RIGHT!

BTW...
Hershey was the bomb...best to him!

promotion doesn't make a difference? don't dishonor David by acting like promotions doesn't matter. Look at how THV2 has been promoted (they put a face on it) and look at how katv has promoted 7 news now...not quite as effective...in my opinion. kark, non-existent. at least KLRT has established a look. maybe not a brand yet but a look; very slick...

promotion only leads the parade. this is 2007, and it is marketing 101.

kark is trying to outdo thv from the same downhome angle, ridiculious...going after the leader when klrt is an excellant adversary for kark. pick on someone your own size. Learn to make your own way. Get your first down, then move the chains.

even 7 in their lame condition can do that. (find their own path). dixon and dale found out what copying thv will get you (#2 in the market).

do that at the "new 4" and you'll have created a real stooooorrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmm !!!

The only "talent" I care about is the KATV modeling agency, without Shapiro & Rupp and with Simas and Tracey Douglass from KARK. That is talent!!

Trust me there is not enough dough to get anybody to move from Izard St. to 4th and Main.
