New Website Coming for KARK

This from a tipster: "Have you heard that KARK will be getting a new website beginning next week?

The website will be more of a community portal than a typical TV website. It will go by the name of arkansasmatters.com

All Nexstar stations are in the process of converting the websites. I would estimate that you will see KNWA and KTAL do other similarly formatted websites around January."

Will it have streaming video? As in, real streaming video, not the "hosted on some other Web site" crap they have now?

I'm not in the tv biz, but like to look at this blog, this is the first time I've ever posted. All I know is over the last few months KARK's on-air presence looks better than ever, so the website will probably be a good thing too.

KARK sucks. I guess they are better than Fox but they are still 3rd! How about a LIVE doppler radar like THV has instead of just a pic?

SO does that mean KNWA will change their site to Northwest Arkansas Matters?

And if so, will sports now be Razorback Matters?

Weather Matters?

To advertise, do you need to contact Sales Matters?

WINTER STTTTTTOOOOOOORRRRRMMMMM Matters?

Is everyone here so negative because they feel threatened? Doesn't every station have strengths and weaknesses? Aren't there enough viewers and advertisers out there to allow all of those who work in tv to continue to earn a living in tv? No one can be all things to all people. How about lifting up the industry by acknowledging that often change is good! How about recognizing that someone has to do anything first. I am certain every station in the market has done something first, and then others followed. (That goes for network programming too...can anyone remember which network had the first successful "reality" game show...wasn't it "Millionaire" on ABC? Just because it was on ABC first takes NOTHING away from the shows that followed on other networks.) Didn't THV just revamp their website? You guys and gals are KILLIN' me!!!!! Let's be glad when ANY station does ANYTHING to draw viewers back to network programming, Network websites, and local news....and steers those viewers away from CABLE!!!!!

What about KATV's News Now....it should be called Channel 7 read wire copy now while you listen to really bad music.

What a waste of bandwidth.

Their website is really going to hurt traffic to my physics website, aptly called www.arkansasmatter.com.

P.S. I know nothing about physics.

OK, I must admit... being part of the team that created the "Winter Storm" joke.... it is getting a teensy bit old and out of control :-)

"more of a community portal than a typical TV website"

Geez, was that ripped straight from the office memo? Seriously, who writes like that?

There's really just one person who finds the "winter stoorrrm" thing funny. That's the person that writes it. ENOUGH ALREADY!

Who gives a rats fundament who does best sports?

Sounds like someone in one of the sports departments needs more hugs from mommy and daddy.

The only station building anything around sports in this state is KATV and believe me, the interest in waning.

is waning...

Interest in sports is waning because of the inevitable WINTER STORMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!

Hey why don't they hire someone to update the site?

Now that would be new for them!

I have a major problem with KATV and their apparent need to proclaim themselves as "7 is Sports." Last weekend the MLS Cup was played in Dallas. Now, KATV has long showed a hatred of soccer - just look at their spotty showing of World Cup games over the summer. But yet again, they declined to show the MLS Cup in order to show a few grand infomercials. If 7 really is sports, you'd think they would try to air the championship games of sporting events, right?

And I know that lots of people hate soccer, but then again, lots of people in this state do follow the sport. And are very tired of KATV ignoring it every chance they get.

And as for the winter storm, I though the most annoying was Fox's "FEBRUARY FREEZE!" earlier this year.
