I pity the day the Inquisitor publisher has a mishap. Journalist reporting on journalist. I side with Jody. To hell with any scumbag that makes a living by preying on the misery of others. This is not news. I wouldn't wrap fish or wipe my ass with your sorry paper.

I personally feel sorry for her as she has had alot of trials lately.. Perhaps always I don't even know her but can see that. I pray for her to be strong overcome and hold her head high. I truly believe she will... Human as she is she appears to truly be a great soul deep inside.

I'm far more worried about texting drivers since they cause more accidents than drunk drivers,, but for some reason they are not punished with anywhere close to the amount of severity or shame.

Good thoughts and wishes to Jody. Yes, driving drunk is bad. So is hate-speak. Everyone would be better served if we supported and wished others well rather than act morally superior and self righteous...that will usually push someone to drink more putting themselves and others in further danger. A kind word can make a big difference to someone who need it. I totally agree with 4:44 PM regarding texting and driving.

If brake the law you committed a crime, hence you're a criminal.

Exactly, it shouldn't be a crime to the extent that it is, hence it needs to be fixed.

Well FWIW, LousyAnna has lousy DUI laws. Wish I had a dollar for everytime there's a story about someone who's had multiple DUI's and still has a license. Hope Jodi get's help and overcomes this but this and she doesn't go the Shari Warren route and spiral out of control.

Ummm...Ronald Huber: Do you mean "brake" as in a device for slowing or stopping or "break" as in to smash, split, divide; infringe, ignore; dissolve or annul; to fracture or lacerate??? Use a dictionary to get your meaning straight. See, we all fall short..."Judge not..."

Jodi Lowery is a public figure and should have used way better judgement.

I have no sympathy for her, especially considering she might have killed somebody.

A little shocked that this station saw fit to fire a meteorologist and a long-time reporter for Facebook posts that they didn't like- but so far have not fired this anchor for an arrest over a criminal action which, yes, could have led to many innocent lives being lost. She should count herself lucky that she still has a job, and more importantly did not hit anyone while she was driving under the influence.

I have disdain for you judgmental posters who think "could" equates to an actual killing offense. She didn't kill anyone, she didn't want to kill anyone, and just because there was an outside chance of it occurring doesn't mean she should be accused of it. She was just an unlucky victim of her circumstances.

At 1:40 PM, August 10, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I have disdain for the 10:14am August 10th poster who downplays the severity of this crime. Yes, it's a CRIME and that's why she was arrested!

At 1:51 PM, August 10, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

It's a victimless crime, and no one was injured in any way, shape, or form. You can go on about what you think might have happened, but you are just guessing. I can guess there will probably be a fatal accident that doesn't involve alcohol today, and I bet I'll guess right - that doesn't mean we need to arrest the driver now before it happens.

Leave alcohol alone and focus on the real problem.

These days it doesn't take much to be considered "drunk" thanks to our highly intelligent lawmakers. Texting/talking on cellphone while driving likely has worse stats when it comes to being "impaired" but there's only so many laws that get enforced.

"If brake (sic) the law you committed a crime, hence you're a criminal."

Uh-huh. Remember that the next time you get a parking ticket or you drive over the speed limit by 1 mph or you commit some other minor infraction. By your definition these acts would legally brand you as a criminal.

@3:51, cool story, bro. Tell it again?

At 10:07 PM, August 10, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Having been hit by a drunk driver, I beleive you are punished as the law allows. Just because she is a local
"Personality" doesn't give her a pass to drive under the influence. And drunk driving is not a victimless crime. I hope that you or your family are never involved with a person under the influence.

At 4:43 AM, August 11, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

In this case it was a victimless crime. That's the point. In your case, if true, there was a victim. Your pretending you know she would have hit something or someone, and you don't know that.

At 10:54 AM, August 11, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

By the logic of 4:43am, if someone points a gun into a crowd and fires it, and nobody is hit, it is technically a "victimless" action so therefore should not be punished as a crime. Just because nobody is hit by a bullet, or by a drunken driver, does not mean that a crime should go unpunished. I also agree that texting or cell phone usage behind the wheel is highly dangerous, and needs to have serious consequences, as well.

Bringing it back to the anchor in this case, if she is allowed to stay on at the station, I wonder if the station will make some sort of statement. Some news stations have a policy that includes automatic dismissal after a DUI arrest. Others allow the anchor to stay, but will suspend them.

At 11:54 AM, August 11, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I don't think 4:43 was saying it shouldn't still be a crime at all – just that severity of the consequences should be much less aggressive.

At 11:06 AM, August 12, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think the "Liz Swaine scenario" refers to when KTBS hired Sherri the first time as management took Liz off the evening newscasts, made her do reporting and anchor the 10pm newscast. I worked there when all this was going down and it was clear that the folks upstairs wanted to see Liz leave. The timing of Sherri's return is just too weird for it to be a coincidence knowing how things work upstairs at KTBS.

At 8:16 AM, August 13, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I know what will help! Let's give her a record that will not only get her fired but impede her chances of getting another job in any industry, raise her insurance rates higher than her car payment (she'll find the money somehow, right? Money grows on trees for people who lose their jobs), and make her take expensive classes to apologize for her mistakes (cause again, she'll find that money somewhere, right?).

All this will help save her, and keep her from repeating the crime against... well who exactly was injured in this crime? No one?

At 9:15 AM, August 13, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Coincidence, she gets arrested & ruins her reputation the same day her Ex Fiance returns to Shreveport.

At 9:55 AM, August 13, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Regardless of her profession (or lack thereof) and the fact that she nor anyone else was injured, she made the CHOICE to break the law by drinking & driving. As with any other CRIMINAL she should also face punishment for her poor CHOICE. This is a result of HER actions.

At 10:41 AM, August 13, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

@ 8:16 .a.m.....She gave herself a "record"!!!!!

At 10:59 AM, August 13, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

No she didn't give herself anything. She broke the law and the consequences are the record and what comes with it. Anyone who says the repercussions are meant to help her or save her life is dead wrong. They are punitive in every single way, and offer no assistance for her future. The justice system is leaner on actual murderers than DWI offenders (DWI's cannot be plead down in any circumstance). It's just an alcohol witch-hunt, and if society was really worried about protecting others they would impose the same punishments for texting drivers – but we don't.

At 11:51 AM, August 13, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anyone know why Jody and her fiance broke up? I remember the commercial around Xmas time when she said he lived overseas. It's a shame if she let her breakup with whatever his name is ruin her reputation and possibly her job. I hope things turn around for her.

At 11:57 AM, August 13, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree the Judicial system is & will always be flawed & corrupt, However it all comes down to the fact that Jody Lowery Waldo had a choice, & if the repercussions of her actions cause her to loose her job and/or pay a higher insurance than her car note (which she shouldn't have since her license are suspended) or be court ordered to attend AA meetings, pay a fine, attorney fees, etc, then Honestly she should have taken all that into consideration. MADD.

At 1:43 PM, August 13, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

That doesn't mean the repercussions shouldn't be changed to more appropriate ones for future offenders.

1. Why does she have a Suspended drivers license?
2. Was she driving a vehicle registered & insured in her name?, if yes, how is that possible with a Suspended license? If No, then whose vehicle was she driving?

At 11:28 AM, August 15, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

11:10, What does one have to do with the other? You can own/register/insure a vehicle. You may not be allowed to drive it without a valid license, but I don't believe if your DL gets suspended, your vehicle registration and insurance automatically go away.

At 11:52 AM, August 15, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

To my knowledge, in the State of Louisiana If an individual does not have a valid drivers license they are to surrender any & all license plates in which are registered to that person, and upon doing that insurance also canceled.

I read all the post and I see all the negative and trash responses. I have my reservations on the incident for certain. The Station if fortunately owned by a family that seems to not rush to any decision to fire and fire now. They look at the over all picture. With other anchors they did the same. I am hoping they look at the big picture and the give and takes of Jody. She is no doubt going through a time in her life that she apparently needs help and support for a sickness that real. I have enjoyed her being in our lives on the television and I sure hope she does seek the help, and returns to the air. May the Wray family consider all options before making a final decision.
God's Speed to You Jody, You are not alone We will be lifting you up in prayer.
