KARK Morning Anchor Leaving

KARK/Channel 4/Little Rock morning anchor Matt Mosler has announced he will be leaving the station at the end of August to go into the ministry full-time.  Here's his post to facebook followers:

Big news from Matt Mosler this morning:

Dear Friends,

It is with a great deal of excitement that I announce after a wonderfully fulfilling and rewarding 28-year career in radio and television I’ll be leaving KARK on Friday, August 29th and joining the pastoral staff of New Life Church’s Greater Little Rock campus on Monday, September 1st.

Camille and I are incredibly grateful to Pastor Rick Bezet and the entire staff of NLC for this opportunity to continue my ministry full-time with this great fellowship. Among my new duties at NLC I will be encouraging and motivating others to fulfill their own ministries through the church’s Connect classes as well as helping lead the men’s ministry at the Greater Little Rock campus. Just thinking about the possibilities of ministering at a church with the resources and the passion of New Life makes me dizzy!

With Pastor Rick’s encouragement I will continue to accept the opportunities, as time allows, to share in other churches as well as maintain my leadership of the CrossHeirs Retreat Center in Humphrey, AR. This year we will host retreats and events for more than 110 churches, ministries and families. It’s amazing to see what God has done at this “little log cabin.” It is so encouraging to see the impact teaching, training and retreating has on the lives of our guests.
This is a decision I have wrestled with for a couple of years now after I was first approached by NLC. While ministry has always been my passion I really enjoy working at KARK and the time never felt right to close the door on a profession that has been so good to me and my family. However, my youngest daughter will be heading off to college later this month, our CrossHeirs Retreat Center is really doing well and, frankly, at my steadily advancing age it was getting tougher and tougher to answer that 2:50am wake-up call! So after much prayer and counsel I had a real peace that now was the time to step away from the early hours of morning TV and begin this next step in life’s journey.

I am so thankful the management of KARK gave me the opportunity to return to Little Rock television in 2006. They have always been very supportive and encouraging of my ministry endeavors. I can’t thank them enough for their commitment and generosity and hope to continue to pop up on the airwaves now and then if they ever need me.

Now, the hard part- Boy, am I going to miss the daily interaction with Mallory Brooks, Greg Dee and the staff of KARK 4 Today. When you come to work in the middle of the night there are no managers or sales staff or…anyone for that matter so you and your crew quickly become like family. You see each other at their best and worst and love them through it all. Greg Dee is one of the best meteorologists I’ve ever worked with. His knowledge and work ethic is inspiring. And Mallory…well…I have worked with some incredible co-hosts over the years but no one longer and none better than this young lady. It’s been such a pleasure to see her grow personally and professionally in the 5 years we have sat together at that desk. She is a real pro and probably one of the nicest people I have ever been around. What a treat it has been to work with such a great team.

So, thank you again for all of your support over the years. I’m so blessed God called us to this state in 1996 and proud to call her home. I look forward to this new challenge and opportunity to continue serving the great people of Arkansas. You really are the best! God bless you, and if you get a chance I would love to see you sometime at NLC!

I remember before he was bald and he was on katv with long blonde hair wearing a sweater vest all the time on the morning show back in the 90s to the early 2000s.

The god you seek is there. He hasn't moved. Only the non believers have distanced themselves. Stick to your calling. Enjoy your chapter 2.

Never argue with idiot Christians. They have conditioned themselves to not allow sense to disrupt their arguments.

matt, good to see you are following your heart. God has a wonderful way of opening new doors as he closes others.

What do you care what others believe? You live your life the way you want to and let them do the same... simple huh?

Matt has nothing to lose if he believes. On the other hand, one who does not believe has everything to lose.

Think about that.
Me thinks you are not very smart not to believe. Hey, it's your eternity.

Believe what you want but being snarky and obnoxious over what someone else believes is...well, snarky and obnoxious.

I agree with 7:03p

Ha! Maybe he should believe in all religions just to be on the safe side.

All those people are sure they are right too.

@7:03, well if we should pick a religion to in case one of them is right, maybe we should look closer at Islam. I've heard they get virgins in their eternity.

Yeah, and on the way you might want to take some spelling lessons. Just saying.

Ah. How quaint. The old "I lost the argument, so I guess I'll attack spelling" response. I haven't seen that one in a while.

I think it's pretty sad that in this day and age someone as educated as that man says he is believes all that Christianity bullcrap.

I would miss the daily interaction with Mallory Brooks, too.

People on here are beyond pathetic. READERS DON'T GIVE A TINKER'S DAMN ABOUT WHAT YOU BELIEVE OR DON'T BELIEVE! This is an article about a gentleman following his dream. No more, no less. Take your stupid soapboxes out to a park and bellow until you get throat cancer for all I care. Just keep your stupid comments (on both sides!) to yourselves or find a forum more germane to that topic. Man, what a bunch of idiots! Mr. mosler, regardless of what I believe or don't believe, I wish you the best of success in your future.

4:50p
Didn't lose the argument at all. It's you that will lose everything when you make jokes about the father.

By the way, you must be a broadcast journalist (really doubt it but) don't have to know how to spell in that line of work. lol

Matt, don't let these non-believers bother you.

12:23, in what line of work do you not need sentence structure or syntax? You have displayed no skill for either quality.

And yes you did lose the argument when the poster correctly saw and exploited your fallacy of forgetting much of the world disagrees with your beliefs.

Really sad yall mock someone because of their faith. We can all pray yall find the lord and find the faith otherwise your future is bleak.

At 3:13 PM, August 04, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

That is such a pompous comment and attitude. You have no idea whatsoever what happens to people after they die. You can keep on pretending you know, but the truth is you do not.

313. We will pray for you. Read the bible.

At 5:34 PM, August 04, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

If he were leaving to study Islamic teachings and join a mosque, would you enlightened ones be so quick to mock and condemn? I doubt it. It's only fashionable and politically correct to mock Christians and their beliefs. It's racist and bigoted to mock other religions and their beliefs, isn't it? You must be the most pathetic bunch of hypocritical morons on the planet.

At 6:08 PM, August 04, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I would criticize him just as much if left to preach any other silly religion.

@4:57 Reading the bible is only the first step. Next you need to study who wrote it and why.

Since you probably don't know where to begin, here is a link to some good information on the subject.

Wow that was a good read. At least the parts I read anyway. Scholarly and written without the need to berate. I'll check out more later.

Well done, 6:08. Well done indeed.

To 6:08

Written by a person that you feel is more intelligent than say, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jr., George Washington, Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, John F. Kennedy and many, many other famous people that you may have heard of.

By the way, I have published works. Do you?

At 10:26 PM, August 04, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

George Washington certainly would have been on 6:08's team, as a point of fact. Most of the founding fathers were Deists, including him. Although he was not quite as outspoken as Thomas Jefferson , Thomas Payne, or James Madison.

Even though 10:15's argument was a complete Red Herring to 6:08's, I thought it worth noting.

At 10:51 PM, August 04, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

6:08 here! Thanks for everyone's responses. To 10:15, I am not attacking anyone's intelligence, since none of your historical figures were secular biblical scholars, aside from George Washington who was a Deist and disagreed with the authenticity of the bible for similar reasons. The author I referenced is just one of many who understands Christianity and its beginnings . He's not necessarily smarter than Abe Lincoln, but he does have more time and interest to study these things.

Or maybe it's just easier for you to dismiss what someone says or writes, because it means your eternal salvation might not be what you thought it was? I think that might be the real issue.

At 5:01 AM, August 05, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well done 6:08. Methinks 10:15's name dropping, Red Herring response was the most pathetic attempt at a rebuttal I've seen to the very interesting arguments you shared with us.

Overall, not much of a lose. Hope he stays gone from TV and takes Julie Mayberry with him. He has always been pushy and rude.

Martin Luther king Jr.? Your hanging your self righteousness hat on man with more illegitimate children than Elvis?

Ugh... the company Jesus freaks keep.

What went from him moving on to another chapter of his life, turned into a religious debate. We still live in a country of certain freedoms and beliefs. If you choose to believe in a higher existence (as I do) then lead your life accordingly. If you choose not to, then don't. I'll still pray for all mankind. That's still my freedom.

Mosler said on Elswick's radio show that his replacement would be Aaron Nolan.

Arguing with religious people is futile. These are people who live in the information age yet are unable to understand the extremely simple principle of evolution. However, they find plenty of evidence to support: talking snakes, Noah's Ark, demon possessed swine, men living in giant fish, the exodus myth, virgin births, etc. Save your breath, most people in the world aren't very intelligent. Religion exists to control and exploit them.
