KARK Sports Director Says Goodbye
Today is Kerri O'Hara's last day at KARK. KARK says she is leaving Arkansas after two years at KARK for Boise, Idaho. O'Hara wrote this goodbye message:
I hate goodbyes, so instead I'll say thank you! I came to Arkansas a
little more than two years ago unsure of what to expect. I'll leave
here today with my expectations exceeded in every way possible.
Arkansas, you have some of the kindest people the world has to offer! But as you all know, there's no place like home!
My family and I are moving back to Boise, Idaho. It's where my husband
and I met and where we can't wait to raise our little guy.
I'm also saying farwell to television news to enter the world of real
estate; a career that will allow me to spend more time with our baby.
My entire adult life has been spent in a newsroom. Its afforded me the
chance to see the country, forge dear friendships and have countless
"bucket list" experiences! I'm so thankful to have had the chance to
cover your teams here in Arkansas. I only hope I did them justice!
As I start this next chapter, I'll take a bit of the Natural State with
me. My little boy will always be a native Arkansan! You all have a
friend in Idaho! Woo Pig Sooie!
Best,
Kerri :)

gonna miss her (.)(.)!
Good luck Kerri. I will miss you.
Great job Kerri.We'll miss you.
Kerri, you did a great job and you have a great outlook on life. You definitely have your priorities straight. Good luck to you!
Wes Moore would be stupid to go to Channel 4! Clearly there is something wrong over there. Everyone is leaving!
Good luck in the real estate business Kerri. Getting out the broadcasting was the best thing I ever did.
Kerri is leaving to go be with family. Melissa left to go home to be with family. Everyone else didn't leave but they are gone. The other stations can say what they want but the rest of us here at 4 feel good about our new direction. Will miss ya Kerri!!
I'm curious what you think is wrong at KARK? All I see is a clean up of everything that was wrong. It's not like they were beating 7 and 11.
Out of the four stations, KARK and KATV seem like real TV news stations. Fox is just too "fox" and KTHV is just too hard to watch.
I completely agree
Goodbye Kerri. Great job. Will miss your smiling face, great sense of humor, and, above all, superb sports reporting. I thought I heard you say once that you were from Boston???
Oh come on... sports is easy and there are tons of great people out there would love to step into either one of those positions. "Talent" folks in general are a dime a dozen, and that includes news too.
Someone who is on televison reading the news is not defined as talent.
They are on-air personalites.
The use of the word talent (as seen below).
talent -
1. a special natural ability or aptitude: a talent for drawing.
2. a capacity for achievement or success; ability: young men of talent.
3. a talented person: The cast includes many of the theater's major talents.
4. a group of persons with special ability: an exhibition of watercolors by the local talent.
5. Movies and Television . professional actors collectively, especially star performers.
Good grief,get a life.
8:41 you are an idiot. The term, "talent" was first used in a somewhat derisive but generally good natured manner by off-air folks when talking to or about on-air people. You need to lighten up.
That's because 8:41 is a viewer, not in the business. If he/she were, he'd know that the use of the word talent means on-air folks, as opposed to behind the scenes workers and management.
I dunno... I agree 841 is probably not in news, but could work in the building. I found myself explaining the difference between a package and vosot to a person who works alongside the news folks on a daily basis the other day.
I thought it was odd, but it shows how much viewers really know either.
I guess I can go back to watching KARK on occasion. She was hard to watch. Talk about someone who fumbled over their words, plus she couldn't stand with her legs closed, that drove me insane!
Drove me crazy too... but in a good way.
Geez - I'm not in the business either.
I've just spent years watching the so-called TV "talent" come and go after stumbling through pre-written news that any 7th grader could read.
Ugh!
7:04, I can tell you are not in the business. The Little Rock TV market is a LONG way off from network news. I can promise you that sports anchors and news reporters write most if not all of the stuff they read. Local news stations are skeleton crews these days...they don't have a million writers to carry a lot of weight
Its Hush Hush, but close mutual friends with Wes and Alyson say yes Wes is going to Ch 4. Has no that darn lil clause to wait on....
I've been wondering what happened to Wes Moore! I've been missing him for about 2 months now. I will miss him on THV...no, I am not in the business, just a concerned observer of sports news. BTW, I do NOT like Aiyana Crystal! She can go somewhere else as far as I am concerned! Good luck Wes!
I sure hope Wess goes to Channel 4.The crew they have in Fayetteville sucks.Wess would bring the sports package the man they need.
