Sweep the Sweeps Right Out the Door!
February sweeps period is now over thank goodness. No more crazy and wild stories and investigations. Even just regular viewers know by now when the sweeps periods are. During the period all the main anchors are on and once its over they start being gone for weeks at a time. Also during sweeps normal viewers seem to notice how all the stations start focusing on stories out of the metro areas in which they are located. While the outside Central Arkansas viewers love the attention, it's quickly noticeable when sweeps are over it's back to covering just Central Arkansas. I have to say the Shreveport stations are really good at covering stories out of the Shreveport/Bossier City metro area nearly all the time. So until next sweeps period we can expect real news versus tuning in to win prizes! Now we are just waiting to see who won what.

Hurray! Now we can go back to crappy tv until May sweeps.
Isn't that the truth.
Sorry, but it was crappy TV during the ratings, too.
Just what we needed, more sweeps. If they expand them any more we will be in sweeps year round. Normally we have some really good stories during sweeps but not this time. I bet everyone will double down for May sweeps when it really counts.
Don't give them any ideas or they will.
I have to agree with a comment in the original thread. We really do need to expand our coverage outside LR metro and CenArk. I've been down to Shreveport several times and they are very good about covering stories all over their region. Even if it's out their viewing area. All three Shreveport stations have bureaus in Texarkana so they overlap some of our coverage area in Southwest Arkansas. I have to give them credit for that, however, I like our anchors and reporters here much better. Plus they are much better looking.
Yes, we should but we wont. I've suggested expanding our coverage to several different ND's and GM's but they never do anything.
I hope they don't go back to covering national news that we have no interest in or will see at 5:30 or on CNN.
I agree but they only do national news stories if it's a big event like these tornado outbreaks or something like that. It would be nice to know what's going on outside our immediate metro area. I have always thought is was strange how our stations cover such a large area of the state but we hardly ever report whats going on in those areas.
The stations in Shreves-ville are run by yo-yo's... that's why our news anchors look & sound so dorky.
11:17 AM
If you haven't seen national news at 5:00, you haven't been watching the same station I once watched.
Yayyy!
No more "Pay Forwards", "Cereal Drives", "Would you just look at that fish"...
I can't watch morning "news" anymore. Makes me insane. I could care less where someone is "hiding" or even where the speed traps are. The speed limit is the law, not a suggestions so you should not be warned where you are going to get a ticket, you should just get one for driving like a complete moron.
And what was with all the "exclusive" stories that nobody gave a shit about?
Whooop-de-doo.
Boring. Boring. Boring.
Lets see if FOX16 can pull out earlier newscast times like the others already did along time ago. You only see these guys at the news desk from 5-10:30 PM weeknights...
Tonight was a "Scanner" news night, like most.
And now, lets check in with our roving anchor down in Hope, AR... KeShandra, what is going on there?
Well, our traffic light just turned green...
