Good luck Rob. You will be missed!

Can you say number 3 and falling fast to number 4? Good news matters has been replaced by pushy reporters investigating " garbage men who sort through trash on someone else's collection day.", a weather dept. With zero credibility, and sports that can't see past boring razorback baseball highlights. This change will not do anything for them, just solidify 7 and 11 as the dominant news and online sources.

I had really hoped that 4 was turing things around. It seems like 1 to 2 years ago they really were putting out a good product. The last 6 to 8 months is has been really hard to watch.

As for solidifing 11 as a dominant news source. That not going to happen their product is just a bad if not worse than 4.

And those ratings will keep on falling. KARK is Austin's 4th station and 3rd Nexstar owned station in 7 years.

When you send reporters out to do their own camera work without proper training you are asking for trouble.

But, anything to save a dollar or two.

Wrong station.

@10:49 Sounds like this Kellerman doesn't stay any where very long if he's been at 4 stations in 7 years. Who knows, maybe he'll break his record and be there more then 2 years.

It's not like Kellerman has been fired. He has been quickly promoted. That's a good sign, not a bad sign.

Channel 4 is the only Little Rock station sticking with the reporter/photographer team concept. It makes for better stories. Channel 11 and 7 are the stations that send reporters out by themselves. Not sure about 16. Get your facts straight.

KATV's MMJ is turning better stories than most reporter/photog teams in the market. This coming from someone outside the business.

Well maybe this new ND will change things up. KARK has been sliding and looking bad for a while.

Little rock news stations have all been sliding down hill for years. Viewers deserve better.

At 8:19 PM, February 28, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ch7 hired someone who was already an mmj who has worked in several markets.

Ch11 hires mmjs so they have an excuse to higher someone straight out of college cheap.

Totally different... and im sure different pay too!

While I was back home last week I watched all the local station, and was surprised how much all the stations have gone down since I left. On air product through the entire market is weak at best. It wasn't like this when I was here, but most of my former co-workers and counter parts at other stations have either left Little Rock or gotten out of broadcasting. Its really depressing. If this is progress you can keep it.

I always like how people come on this blog and act like they're... "just a viewer"! RIGHT!! Give it a rest. And to the person above... What juggernaut station do you run that you know so much about quality in local news? Please, do tell... Oh that's right, you don't! And where ever you live right now, just stay there! I honestly think the stations have all improved and got more competitive over the last year or two, they all do a good job playing to their strengths. This coming from, just a viewer. ha just kidding!

I would still take Sanderbre over Heverly, even with the damage Sanderbre, did.

What's up with THV's to pm anchor changes?

Hey 10:59 I totally agree. Is Jennifer Flowers doing anything?

I don't care who you are. That's funny right there.

At 2:16 PM, March 01, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Just when I though THV might start changing, they are... but getting worse.

Everyone blamed Larry Audas. Sure he wasn't good for the station, but it doesn't seem like the same ones who wanted him out are doing anything good now that he's gone.

I used to watch them but for years they've had the worst talent in the market.

What does Stefanie Bryant get paid to do? The few times I have seen her on, she is introducing a national package.

The female MMJs look confused, Max Seigel pauses after ever other word in his stories and who is Matt Buhrman? He is one acquired looking/sounding guy.

I think THV's morning show team isn't living up to the hype, thus helping KARK and KATV. Tom is so grumpy and Alyse smiles no matter the story she's reading.

I can go on about things I see when watching other stations but THV has a lot more issues than the others.

To the above post, I think the THV morning show is fine.

My reason for getting on here is to ask, has anyone else noticed that Liz Massey tries to hide behind her script? But it doesn't work.

It is distracting and comical.

There are attractive heavy women out there, but that's because they are confident.

Don't more people fold their scripts in half? Not Liz Massey:

Lane Michaelsen is looking for a job. THV should consider bringing him back, or trying to lure Mark Raines back or, just about anything else. What they're doing isn't working and it appears to be getting worse.

At 3:12 PM, March 01, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Don't expect Lane to rejoin Gannet. Raines is smarter than that too. Master MC needs to be running that shop. She knows it. Word in the TV sales world is that THV's ten and AM is undergoing the knife. Buh, bye Craig.

At 3:31 PM, March 01, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wow, Liz Massey's suits on those clips look like they're about to pop.
Sad for her that she is the only current baby mama who didn't slim down.

And it doesn't look like she will be thinning down anytime soon.

Jancey Sheats had three kids in 3-years, Heather Crawford had two in three years, so did Christina Munoz and Dawn Scott. Kerri O'Hara just had a baby and they all look great and they can fit in their clothes.

Isn't it part of your anchor contract to stay the same look you were when you were hired? So can she be put on probabtion?

At 3:43 PM, March 01, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Probabytion?

At 4:59 PM, March 01, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

They're not going to fire her. What kind of probation do you put an anchor on?

If Mark Raines still worked at Todays THV, that's a different story.

It seemed like everyone was pregnant there for a while.

Most of them were pregnant around 9 months.

I hope they were pregnant for nine months. Don't want to have a bunch of pob baby's running around here.

I know you all will say I am lying but I really am just a viewer and don't work at any station or related industry.

I see so much 11 bashing i wanted to add my two cents.

I can tell you in general I enjoy the 11's morning show. I think Alyse Eady is growing on me and/or getting better but still has some growing.

I love Craig O'Neill, he can be serious when he needs to be but he also bring some live to some stuffy news. I do think Craig does better with those that remember him from radio. Thus those that are not from here have more trouble with him.

I think 11 used to have the strongest weather team between Ed and Tom but the other two need some work and growth. There is potential but not sure in this market how that is. BTW, i now think 7 has the best weather people very strong and very comfortable with normal weather and bad weather. They even do very good job double teaming severe weather and bouncing off each other. 11 can't double team for anything and not sure how 4's new weather lead will do. Not sure about 16, i think they only have two weather people.

You all bash Liz Massey, but I think she is good and knowledgeable.

I may be a little odd as I look at these people as people I might have as friends. I don't expect my friends to have perfect body features. It is what they do that counts. Liz is not some thin model that some of you perverts drool over, but she knows her stuff.

I dare say from what I have seen there are anchors on other stations that I am not sure how much they know vs just can read an smile on cue.

I will let you all bash me now, but i think some of you are just way too shallow.

KARK has lost its mind or money or both. The station doesn't have the resources to compete. Nexstar's priority is how do we cut, rather than how do we compete. It's sad really for the people of Arkansas.

At 8:04 PM, March 04, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

5:01 is right. The best thing Nexstar could for us is to sell the station.

At 11:33 AM, March 05, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Nexstar hasn't shown a profit in years and is deep in debt. The plan is to maintain appearance of sustainable sales growth. Political ad spending with upcoming election will make them look pretty for awhile. Don't expect anything major until after Nov.

SELL US NOW! SELL US NOW! SELL US NOW!

From your lips to Perry's ears. KARK would be much better off with any one other then Nexstar.

Was Clausen fired?

At 7:56 PM, March 05, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Thing about Nexstar, they have done pretty good as far as gross income is concerned so all the execs get their nut. Stock price has been holding steady and senior execs have been buying stock so they're hedging their bets should a solid offer come in from some investment group, they can dump their stock for a good chunk. The big problem right now is that they owe a looottt of money due to their buying spree over the past 5 yrs or so; to say they're leveraged up the wazoo...well that's an understatement. Election year ad sales is a biggie and if the economy even shows some signs of a rebound...then they'll be targeted but it's going to take a lot. That's why they run their stations on string and chewing gum. They simply are focusing on debt service, nothing else.
