Lr Station Home on Web Gets Rehashed...
KARK has rehashed its home on the World Wide Web. The first thing I saw was the very noticeable advertisements at the top. The other is there are no links to the top stories..or any real news on the home page. All you get are the headlines flashing by you at the speed of light. I guess its different than before.

It blows...deleted it from my favorites. Bad decision on KARK's part.
No original 7 day forecast anymore either. Just the computer driven one that doesn't match the one on their newscasts.
Yeah, it blows big time. I deleted KARK from my favs too.
It's not as easy to navigate as the old one. I'm done!

KARK's web page has been bad for a long time. This is worse than before but the previous ones were not much better.
The adds on their website are the worst ones of all. Of course this is the channel that has adds during it's news cast at the bottom of the crawl etc...
As a viewer I gave up on KARK a longtime ago. For me is a a 3 network town KATV, KTHV, & KRLT.
Can't stand it. Used to visit it daily but I can't find anything on it anymore. KLRT's website is the easiest to navigate.
Dislike. And on same topic, we get to look forward to even more ads if we want to draw money out of ATM's without a fee. You can opt out, but it will cost you.
Wonder how long before thieves realize people at ATM's are sitting (or should I say standing) ducks for that extra 30 seconds, so they can make their move? I guess we'll then see those stories on the KARK site, amid the ads. What irony.

I agree Auntie Em, It's getting redic. I never click on ads, and I never use an ATM that's not owned by my credit unions, so no one is making anything extra off of me.

6:29 I agree the girls are cute...but for whatever reason it is not translating into ratings! I always thought that is why 7 has had the edge for so long. NBC programming doesn't help them I guess.
Ugh, I see what your talking about. The new site is horrible. I couldn't find anything I was looking for. Just go ahead and kill it and put the old site back online.

KARK has horrible marketing. No billboards, no radio ads, no newspaper ads, no Jessica Dean at Christmas Karaoke. How will you gain new viewers if you only self-promote?
KARKs website sucks. At least their news appears to be getting a little better. I am getting tired of THV's little girl chit chat tea time when they should be reporting news and information. Pam Baccaum...take the damn cat off of your news desk and do your friggin job. You and Meredith chit chatting about cat tricks while some alley stray walks your desk during the news is an irresponsible journalism.
Couldn't agree more... the new KARK website is horrible. I, too, visited theirs several times a day for news and weather, but NO more. Also agreed, KTHV relies too heavily on the cat, too much of a prop. Enough already and light the shack properly ... please.
Don't see the big deal, but you all have to have something to complain about...
There are these things called tabs in the same place where they were before.
@7:43-Thanks Mr. KARK webmaster for the course on how to use the tabs on that piece of crap site. Comments on here are fairly consistent that the recontructed site sucks. Big deal? Not really. There's plenty of other good local news sites from which to gather informative content.

It's not just KARK with a new web site format. All the Deathstar stations now have the exact same format.

7:50 A "cookie cutter site" is a web site where you have a standard format. AT&T, Intuit that owns Turbo Tax, GoDaddy.com and tons of other companies have these cookie cutter sites.
Basically it's like this.
Step 1. Insert station call letters here.
Step 2. Insert station info here.
Step 3. Insert local news here.
So forth and so on.
In other words no original ideas about how to write a web page. My ten-year-old granddaughter designed her own web page on Yahoo by filling in the blanks.
No wonder KARK's sucks.

Everyone in town uses their company format. No one is unique to other stations in their group. It's all about user numbers. I believe KARK leads the market in users with KATV right behind them. Last info I saw said KTHV last behind FOX.
Nobody at that station has had an original idea since Carl Tibbets left in the late 60's.
KNWA in Northwest Arkansas I believe did the same thing too, and probably all of Nexstar's affiliates as well.
Yes, we already know that 7:41. A comment posted on January 10 said that EVERY Nexstar station switched over to this same homepage format. When I saw that comment I went on the Nexstar website and looked at all their stations web pages. Every one of them has switched over to this exact same homepage format.
