Former KTBS Reporter/Anchor on the Way Back...
Well it is official....former KTBS anchor/reporter Jody Lowery is coming back to Shreveport. Lowery has made it official, announcing it on her facebook page. For the past 3 years she has been an anchor/reporter at Bay 9 News in Florida.

Im really happy for Jody getting a weekday prime anchor spot. She's paid her dues on the weekends at 3 first and then in Fla, if thats the case.

OMG! You guys bitch about stupidest stuff. Jody's hair is perfectly fine and there is nothing wrong with it. Most female broadcasters with long hair have the same style. It seems to be mandatory at FOX "News".

Well I'm female and to me it would look better if it were thinned out a little. Like someone else said, it looks like a helmet. Women have it tougher in media because of how we look and are judged by other women.

thank God for small miracles - Lowery has absolutely NO presence on camera but as long as she does voice-over news reports, she's ok - I quit watching Bay News 9 in Florida on weekends because of Lowery's facial contortions when reading the news, and gosh, talk about that 'deer in the headlights' look !!!

Jody looks great and does AT LEAST as good as any other female on TV.

But until they are no longer listed in the phone book as a church, and have a tax exempt status, I'll keep referring to them as a church. Even cults get referred to as a church.
I think Jody is doing a great job. How anyone thinks she is worse than Judy Wagonner is beyond me. She comes across very personable and warm. Jusy comes across very cold and annoying.
Jody is a very nice person, and I miss working with her. People who have a problem with Jody have a problem with every one.

8:47pm, I always call them the assembly and academy of almighty football. But after the coach, Dunn molested that girl, and the Durons and the rest covered up for him like they were catholics or something, I sure do find it offensive to call them a "church".

Oh sweetie, that was nothing. That's how the AOG rolls. We all know he really did it. I would have been shocked and surprised if they actually did something about it. There were a lot of other things going on at that school that never came to light.
You may be to young to remember this but all of the big religious scandals of the 1980's were members of the AOG. Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggert, Oral Roberts. All AOG.
I agree with 8:33AM. Jody is a much better anchor than Stephen Mayer or Judy Waggoner. I'd still rather have Sheri Talley but Jody is a very good replacement.
You folks at KTBS should stop bitching and be thankful you have Jody back as an anchor. I would give anything to have her over here at my station.

Skip only works as a fill in p/t. He works full time (or did, Im assuming he still does) in the medical profession.
I think Skip works as an X-ray tech or something like that which is a better gig than doing the weather at KTBS. Yep, just a PT'er.

I have watched the last couple of weeks since Jody has been back and I have no idea why people don't think she's doing a great job.
Because some people bitch about everything no matter the subject. Some people post negative comments on here just to stir things up. And some people are jealous they did not get the job.
I agree with 4:53PM. Jody has done a great job since she has been back. How can anyone bitch about Jody and not bitch about Stephen Mayer? He had a nasal, whiney voice and wasn't that good looking. And don't even get me started about Judy Waggonner.

KTBS had some "issues" during the 5:00. Looks like they were trying to do to much with the lives in the first and end blocks. Then went out of the show a minute early. Come on folks. Is this how a #1 station is supposed to look?
Yeah it was pretty rough. Most defiantly not a show for the resume tape.
I still can't believe KTBS is running spots for a Strip Club inside the 6pm news. So much for family-friendly. I can't wait for the day when the Wild Orchid spot runs before some church promo. Then again, it's the need for greed that governs the place.
The Wild Orchid is about the only nostalgia for the old Bossier Strip left. I'm sure that there are plenty of "family" people who enjoy seeing those ads and remembering our good times on the strip, even if we won't actually be going to the Wild Orchid.
My wife and I were also surprised at the Strip Club ads being placed in an early evening newscast. We were waiting for the weather with Joe as we were going to drive to Natchitoches for a family visit. While some find these ads ok, as parents we don't, especially around 6pm on a station that says it's on "our side". We're not prudes but we remember a time when such ads wouldn't be allowed that early. I realize the station has to make money but come on KTBS, can't you wait and show these later in the evening when our kids aren't in the room?
Oh please, that's been going on for a while. Wild Orchid and Action Central used to advertise on KTAL, but they were not allowed to air before 11:00pm. The current management changed that and started running them in Wheel of Fortune and primetime. They also used to air those commercials in breaks between church shows.
Now that's just wrong.
So who is the new weekend Met on KTBS? I didn't catch her name, but Judy did say they used to work together at KNOE. This makes the 5th person from KNOE to come over here to KTBS. Does any one know whats going on at KNOE to make all these people leave for KTBS?
Desperation perhaps? KNOE is really a starter station. Get a decent reel and get out ASAP, even if it's KTBS.
Hoak Media owns KNOE and they own mostly small stations in crappy TV mkts. They do well to keep the lights on and the transmitter running but that's about it.

I see KNOE is now running KAQY that used to be run from KMSS. Considering how horrible Comm Corp is Hoak must be just as bad.

Jody Lowery has been here about a month and has done a very good job. Glad she's back.

Just an observation, but seems like Jody & Gerry have faceshapes / jawlines. Is this caused by camera angle? We were watching and when they did a 2-shot, my girlfriend point this out.

Well unless her gig at NBC in Miami is temporary or tanks AND li'l Brad's Boat Tour biz tanks (or sinks). I couldn't imagine she'd be back UNLESS KTBS throws a boatload of money at her. With 3's crazy management history (Pay one or two anchors really well until they suck or GM needs a scapegoat...then they quit or get fired.) Yeah...anything's possible...but unlikely.

Jen and Brad are NOT coming back. They are perfectly happy where they are at. They have fantastic weather. No state income tax. Plus why would why would they want pies from Strawn's when they can get real authentic Key Lime Pies there?
It seems that Jennifer has a track record of not staying anywhere for a very long time. So, I agree with those who think she will eventually come back. It might be in 6 months, a year or two, but she will come back. They are both from here, right?
I only see Jen and Brad coming back here to live full time when his dad retires and Brad takes over full ownership of Reeve's Marine.
That is as long as Reeves Marine manages to keep out of bankruptcy.

Of course Reeve's is having money problems. Unless you are on Swamp People who can afford to blow tens of thousands of dollars on a boat right now? I know a lot of people who have gotten rid their boats, jet skis, and RV's in the past two or three years.
Well brothers Rusty & Rodney had a major falling out a few years ago over some business decisions. I heard from someone in the biz that Reeves ad buys were cash up-front due to some really slow-pays. I think their co-op ad buys disappeared.
It would seem with Jennifer doing those Bewley's commercials, she wants to make sure the local area does not forget her name and face just in case they do move back.
I seriously doubt that's the case, it's just some extra money. E.H. Spillers of Bewley's probably wanted her to do ads when she was a weathergirl at KTBS but George wouldn't allow it. Since she left, anything's fair-game as long as her NBC contract in Miami allows it.
In this economy who couldn't use some extra money. Plus it's not like there isn't a president with current and/or former local news personalities making commercials for local company's like Bewley's, Ivan Smith, Stumpwater Inn and others. Al Pierce from KTBS, and Tony Taglavore, and Bob Griffin from KSLA did it. Michelle White kept making commercials for Ivan Smith for at least the first year she was back on air at KTAL. Even Sherri Warren kept making commercials until her career and life imploded.
MeeShell kept doing Ivan Smith spots because Ivan Smith and the KTAL GM are tight and Nexstar corporate didn't notice. It wasn't until a new N.D. with actual news ethics came in and things changed
Yes, that's true but so what? Michelle still did those Ivan Smith spots for years. That was all agreed to when Mark went behind Willy's back and hired Michelle without any input or notification from the N.D.
Mark got fired recently so looks like MeeShell's status could be questionable in the next few months.

Given Nexstar's management history, I seriously doubt much will change if anything. The new guy is probably just happy to be out of sling-shit Texas and this move will be good on his resume.

Getting reassigned from anchoring to reporting is a not-so-subtle hint that your days with a station are numbered. It's also a way to get employees to find another anchoring job elsewhere.

I remember Jody commenting on how sophisticated the news business in this market was just before she left. She was covering a Fourth of July program at an elementary school. No one complains about her Facebook page. Wray, Sirven and Bain are the 3 Stooges and Elkins is doing a job that usually keeps her mug off air, where it belongs. Centenary College should annex the place and let even more students work there.
