Some KATV Viewers Could be Up A Creek in the New Year.....

This from KATV.com

KATV's carriage agreement with AT& T U-Verse expires on Saturday, December 31st at 11:59 PM.

• To avoid impacting local viewers, KATV has presented AT&T with a very fair and competitive deal, but at this point they are not willing to accept our offer.

• If you are an AT&T U-Verse customer, starting Sunday morning, January 1st, you will no longer see KATV.

So what, who cares?
These things always work themselves out.

It looks like people would get fed up with getting jerked around and just get a TV antenna. Anyone who has not watched over-the-air since the digital switch would be amazed at the clarity of the picture, and the wide variety of stations and sub-channels that are now being broadcast. I am watching Bonanza right now on MeTV, and it never looked this good in the 1960s.

What you say @1:53 is true most of the time, but they often get the audio and video out of sync. Very distracting when the lips move before you hear the words or vice-versa.

Last year it was Fox & one of the big cable companies. Once everyone gets tired of the $5 increases every year over nonsense like this, it will stop. Of course AT&T owns Congress so they will get what they want. Gee, wonder how that cable bill got to be over $100? Screw the public.

So what. As 1:53 said, go to Radio Shack and get a UHV antenna and put it in your attic or maybe you can get a signal using an antenna that just sits on your television. Watching over-the-air is the pureest form of HD and SD you can get.

Actually, the lip sync is more of a satellite/cable problem that over-the-air.

I am sure as 1:02 said, these things work out and one or the other will give in and you will be able to watch KATV again, just like before.

Whats the deal with Melissa Simas moving back to Boston with her Attorney husband? I guess she saw the writing on the wall when Jessica Dean took her place on the 6 and 10 spots.

KHBS/KHOG in NW Arkansas is going through the exact same thing, and is telling viewers on Suddenlink and AT&T among others, that 40/29 may not be available after 1/1/12. It's that time of year, when greedy companies fight to see HOW MUCH more of your hard earned money they can take.

Well, they aren't taking a dime of my hard earned money. I was born in 1954, just as television started in this area, and I have a lifelong habit of watching, but I certainly don't get as much enjoyment from it as when there were dependable newscast that were intended to inform, rather than to brainwash potential voters or convert to the political ideology of the broadcasters, and when there were entertaining programs to watch. Even though I am a creature of habit, I will only watch as long as I can see over-the-air television supported by commercial sponsors. I very often watch DVDs of programs from the mid-twentieth century, but THIS network and MeTV are my two favorite broadcast channels. I doubt that I would let them hook cable or satellite up to my house if they wanted to give it to me free.

To the above poster: I am with you. Television news used to inform us with a variety of stories.

Now, they want to show us all the crime, fatal accidents and drugs that go on because it's easy to cover. Just listen to the scanner and chase the police cars or fire trucks to get what they call the "news."

I get all my television programming over-the-air on a digital tuner and could care less about what HBO or any of those other "movie" channels have to offer. I can rent them for almost nothing if I want to watch a movie and I am watching more movies now since all the networks want to show us the reality shows and all that. Television is certainly not the enjoyable medium it used to be and headed down more every day.

As long as I get to see Beth Hunt on my Comcast digital cable, I'm happy.

Just checked KATV's FB page. Ironically there was a question regarding this topic from a viewer. Here's KATV's response as of 42 minutes ago:

"KATV Channel 7 Hi Mickey...An agreement has been reached, and there will be no interruption in service. Have a great holiday!"

Fox, with all its channels, has more sports than the rest combined.

Great! Now we will be able to see the Hogs play teams like Savanna State (wherever that school is) and other unknown teams on the RSN on KATV.

Bullshit.

I have UVerse and frankly I would not miss KATV if they were removed.

But they are still there.

Frankly KATV has nothing to offer that I am interested in.

I would rather watch the fish tanks at PetSmart than watch anything on KATV.

Oh well, one can dream....

I can't remember a network program, series, or local news program that I have ever watched on KATV in the past 20 years other than Razorback games when they "owned" the Hogs or was it old Frank "owning" KATV.
