Another Anchor/Reporter Quits Shreveport Station...

TV Spy reports, KTBS Anchor/Multimedia journalist Stephen Mayer has joined KCTV in Kansas City. One wonders if there's anyone left at Channel 3!

Nobody left but Gerry and the kids. Oh and the ancient weekend anchor who is hoarse.

Get used to it, George has turned on the KTBS revolving door, and it's never going to stop. People who'll work cheap will come, get a little experience and a reel, and go.

NEXT! KTBS should just do away with contracts. Seems like they have someone new every month or two.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Alexandra Cranford should do the news instead of the weather. Great voice !

At 12:03 PM, December 27, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes, I agree with 10:48. She is very good; much too good to just do the weather.

I haven't read any comments lamenting Stephen Mayer leaving. Are you happy or sad he is leaving?

At 12:57 PM, December 27, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Your right 10:48. Alexandra is the best on air talent KTBS has hired in several years.

No 12:03 none of us are sad to see Stephen go.

At 1:24 PM, December 27, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Alexandra is very talented and KTBS is lucky to have her. Stephen wasn't the best anchor I've ever seen so I won't really miss him leaving. I was surprised to see him filling in on weekdays, he was not up to that level.

Does anyone know when Stephen is leaving?

At 5:16 PM, December 27, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I didn't have anything against Stephen Mayer, it is just that I like to see the world presented in male/female rather than male/male. I found the team-up of Gerry/Stephen to be somewhat (dare I say it?) queer.

OOPS!
Meant to add, he'll just make her do both.

At 11:21 PM, December 27, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Why shouldn't somebody do both? How hard is for someone to talk for 30 minutes with breaks for commercials? It is really ridiculous to have co-anchors, and separate weather guessers and sports BSers. They are just wasting money when they pay more than one talking head for the same time slot.

At 11:51 AM, December 28, 2011, Anonymous Bitch Please said...

11:21 Obviously you do not work in broadcasting. If you did then you would have a totally different attitude.

At KTBS the on air talent dose not just "talk for 30 minutes." The morning crew is on air for 3 1/2 hours with a 2 1/2 hour show on 3. Then a 30 minute morning show on 21. Then an additional 30 minutes at 11:30.

The evening crew is on air for 3 hours excluding the Sports Show. 30 minutes at 5:00. and 1 hour at 6:00 on 3. 1 hour at 9:00 on 21. Then another 30 minutes at 10:00 on 3.

3-3 1/2 hours on air daily and that does not include any time out in the field and getting stories, research or anything else. Just being on air.

At 1:06 PM, December 28, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Now that's just too much. They need more staff, anchors for different hours. I'm sure that's expensive, but someone mentioned a hoarse anchor earlier. That much news wouldleave anyone hoarse.

I wonder with Sonja Bailes departure and now Stephen Mayer's, if Jodi Lowery is more inclined to return?

At 2:37 PM, December 28, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

KTBS is like a bad buffet.... it's all you can eat and gag on if you want to work there.

But then again, all they're doing is repeating themselves every half-hour. Not much "news" if you ask me.

At 3:40 PM, December 28, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think they just do 30 minutes, and then replay it over and over again. I don't know why they have that old punch and judy puppet with the ratty blonde wig, and the big oversized red lips from the novelty store and the phoney voice and accent. They ought to just go to BPCC and hire a couple of young attractive people who can read well with pleasant voices.

At 4:43 PM, December 28, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

@ 3:40 PM Attractive People? For what KTBS pays, they can't get attractive people to work there. Have a look at who is left. It aint pretty.

At 4:44 PM, December 28, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

roflol, 3:40pm, you give a fairly apt description of Miz Judy. And you are right, all they need to do to get good ratings is put on some eye candy that can read the teleprompter well enough. But you are wrong about the loop being played over & over. They only do that on 3.3, and from 4:30 to 7:30 in the morning, and from 9:00 to 11:00 at night, they are on live (first on 3, then on 21) reading the same news over & over.

At 5:13 PM, December 28, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

4:43 - You don't think Alexandra Cranford is attractive? Plus, she has a very good voice. That's who they should replace Mayer with.

3:40 - funny as hell. Unfortunately, it's all true.

Judy is a good looking woman. She fits the demographics for this market. Some of those reporters should be on the radio. Judy is very least of the on-air problems at KTBS.

At 6:29 PM, December 28, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

KTBS has way to much live on air time which explains why so many long time anchors and reporters are leaving. Of course we do not have enough news in this area to justify all this on air time.

Yes, everything is repeated every 30 minutes during the morning show. Now if you watch the 10:00 the night before you will see exactly what they are going to be talking about and repeating every 30 minutes from 4:30 to 7:30 the next morning. Now KTBS is not alone in this. Both KSLA and KTAL do the exact same thing. However both KSLA and KTAL have less live on air time the KTBS does.

KSLA's morning crew is live for 3 hours. 2 1/2 hours from 4:30 to 7:00 then again for 30 minutes 12:00 noon-12:30. KSLA's evening crew is live on air 2 hours from 5:00-5:30 and 6:00-7:00. Then again from 10:00-10:30.

KTAL's morning crew is live on air for 2 hours from 5:00-7:00. The evening crew is live on air for 1 1/2 hours. 30 minutes from 5:00-5:30 and from 6:00-6:30. Then again from 10:00-10:30.

At 7:54 PM, December 28, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wow, that is entirely to much time. KTBS over saturated the market long before they added the extra 30 minutes to mornings and the 6:00.

Ktbs is on your side down your street peeking your windows always watching you... breaking news breaking wind they care ... lol

At 10:50 PM, December 28, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree some of the KTBS reporters should be doing radio. Alexandra is the best looking female left at the station. Jodi Lowery will also add some eye candy if I recall her on air appearance correctly.

At 10:59 PM, December 28, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

It's not just reading for that long, you have to stand on that hard concrete floor, no talent chairsat KTBS! It's like the talent must be punished.

Alexandra and Jodie are both lookers. Alexandra has great potential. Others at KTBS, this can't be said for. Fat women and ugly men do not cut it in TV News. Have you seen these people trying to report? Ratings surely reflect this.

As long as they have make-up on with their streaked-highlights...and give good "talking-head", they're golden. But don't shoot them waist down, as there's always the DBD* that happens to most Shreveport-Bossier anchor-women.

(*Dreaded Butt Disease)

At 2:56 PM, December 29, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

@ 1:55 PM Your comment is not only sexist, it is untrue. KTBS has mostly pretty women on air, good looking men too. Why make a general comment like that about these women? Have a look at their male counterparts. Stephen Mayer, Gary Cooper and Chris Redford are hard to look at. Maybe highlights and make-up would help them. One of them doen't even shower regularly. Your comment about the anchor women is sickening.

Of course they need more people.

You have to have several people to do the "happy chat" thing that permeates almost all news broadcasts these days.

Or, perhaps they could just get a large mirror and let a single anchor cherrily respond to himself or herself.

At 5:18 PM, December 29, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Had to laugh at the Dreaded Butt Disease comment. Maybe it is sexist but hey look around, Shreveport-Bossier could be the "Baby-got-Back" capital of the world as 3 out of 5 people here are obese. And I can say that having been a news photog that some of the anchor/reporter gals past and present were real intent on making sure their standups didn't make their butts look big!
Tough titties folks, but that's true!

They ran off perhaps the best real TV newsman they had in years because he tried to maintain good journalistic standards but lost out to a sycophant.

All some of you can do is make fun of me and call me mean. What makes me so mean? Think it might be all the nasty comments and lies about me on this pathetic site? What's sad is the ones who comment and make fun of the dating profile and websites are, themselves, on them too.. only I don't "troll."

Married cops? Police locker rooms? Dressing in drag? Really? Prove it.

Before you go on here and bash me for standing up for myself, think about this... it's a crime to keep dogging someone for their sexual orientation. Don't believe me? Ask the creator of this blog.

I've said it once and I'll say it again... don't throw stones, throw pics of yourselves on here. Let us judge your looks for a change.

At 5:41 PM, December 31, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Shreveport-Texarkana ADI has always been a two-station ratings race between KTBS & KSLA as far as local news is concerned. Historically KSLA has always been consistently ahead of KTBS but that hasn't always been the case. Can't recall exact years but KTBS did win one or both of the evening slots at one time but I believe that was before Sirven was GM. After Raycom took over KSLA, about the only smart thing goofy Ed Bradley did was to bring in Af American on-air talent to appeal to the majority metro population. This has continued to this day whereas KTBS doesn't spend a whole lot of time concerned with ethnic diversity on-air. And the people they do wind up are usually a mixed bag for a variety of reasons, chiefly pay-wise and the fact that people stay at KTBS longer than most. That's changing however as we've seen of late.

At 5:42 PM, December 31, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I totally agree with Chris Redford's comments. (And I have never met him either.)

I only log into this website to find out what is going on with the local news. Since KTBS is my favorite station, I am very curious as to what is going on over there.

I do not think that Stephen Mayer and Judy Wagonner are very good as anchors. However, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with their looks.

At 5:49 PM, December 31, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

To Chris Redford (the real me), I do know you and know at least a part of what is written here about you is true. What I don't understand is who cares? Do you post this stuff here yourself to get attention? You are a very minor player even in this small market. I don't care what you do sexually and find it hard to believe anyone else does. You are a miserable person and have treated fellow reporters very badly. This is why you are bashed and made fun of. So go wear your tights or pantyhose or whatever you call them. Keep trying to hang with your police "buddies". If that makes you feel manly great! Now go spend your New Year's Eve alone.

At 5:57 PM, December 31, 2011, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Seems like if people were posting stuff so much, why antagonize and encourage further bashing by coming out so strong about it? There's a saying from Hamlet: Me dost think thou protests too much!!
You make yourself too easy a target, or so it seems.

I saw all that. I was monitoring all three stations during the 6:00 Saturday and the only station that did not have any visible on air mess ups was KTAL.

All three stations have a lot of visible mess ups every weekend so they should hire all new weekend crews.

2:29 PM Please tell us what good things Chris Redford does in this area and why do you think he is a great reporter? 5:49 PM is most likely right, Chris post things here about himself for the attention. One last desperate attempt before he is put out to pasture.

The one who keeps posting trash talk about Redford, and links to his online dating profiles, is obviously an obsessed jilted admirer or some such cyber-stalker. It is a very common problem, and the person might be dangerous. Remember what happened to the Presley woman in Little Rock. I don't have anything either for or against Redford, he is just a fellow citizen of the USA. But I don't want anybody subjected to criminal attacks.

Would someone at KTBS please print this out and give it to George Sirven:

George:

Get your head out of your ass before you lose more of the local viewers who have been loyal to KTBS over the years.

I am a 54 year old white male who bitterly resents your anchors being so overly dramatic when delivering the news. Make your anchors keep their hands on their papers. The constant gesturing is very annoying. Ed Walsh is the only anchor who delivers the news properly.

I could barely stomach Gerry May waving his hands excessively, then along came Stephen Mayer who was even worse than May with the hands. Now that he is gone, I watched the news this weekend and Angela Cruz is just as bad.

Don't get so smug and arrogant as to think viewers will not switch channels. I am already reluctantly starting to watch KSLA.

I know in television it is all about the ratings. You keep giving us anchors who are more interested in entertaining us with the news instead of just reporting it and you will continue to see a larger decline in your ratings than have already occurred.

At 12:27 PM, January 02, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Good luck with that bud. I have e-mailed George directly with comments and complaints multiple times but he has never responded. That's just George. I have also e-mailed comments and complaints to both James Smith at KSLA and Mark Cummings at KTAL and both responded later on that same day or the following morning.

At 1:01 PM, January 02, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Sirven couldn't care less about any of this. His major interest is in how much money he can personally make and how to keep Edwin happy. He has publicly stated that local TV ratings don't accurately reflect the market. While that may be true to a degree, it's just another example of denial and blame-shifting. Until the Wrays see less money in their envelopes, nothing will ever change.
End of story.

At 2:18 PM, January 02, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

1:01 makes some good points, but if ratings fall then the local channels will not be able to charge as much for their ads as they do. So, from that aspect, I think ratings do matter.

At 9:27 PM, January 02, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Don't bother e-mailing Mark Cummings at KTAL, he's just a business guy.
Mike Thomas is really the man in charge over there. Shame he's at KTAL, he's actually a nice guy.

At 10:28 PM, January 02, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

2:18 PM:
If ratings for local news at KTBS really mattered, they would have done something long ago as they've been trailing KSLA for the past 6 or 7 years. As someone has pointed out, ratings in this TV market have been a 2 station race with KSLA edging out ahead in most if not all dayparts with their local news.
KTBS can still make money being 2nd because they still get plenty of viewers to attract advertisers. And when KSLA sells out spot avails, KTBS can still make money because they know they deliver way more viewers than KTAL which has always been a distant 3rd in news viewers. Plus KTBS makes people work OT without OT pay and do double-duty jobs, so they keep costs down.
Do ratings matter? If the other stations were more competitive, you bet ...then it would be a closer race. But KTAL has a lot of ground to cover and by the looks of things, they will always be a distant 3rd place. Forget KMSS...it's owned by rednecks from Lafayette who couldn't care less, they're hoping to sell it someday.

At 10:52 PM, January 02, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I can tell you one time when ratings mattered was when KTBS got bumped off the DISH satellite system for wanting more money from DISH for retransmission fees. Apparently Sirven wanted a lot more per subscriber and DISH told him no way.
KTBS wasn't televised to DISH subscribers for about 3 or 4 months and that meant that a significant number of satellite viewers weren't watching KTBS and they took quite a hit in the ratings. This meant less national spot was paying the rates which meant the Wrays were going to get less money and apparently Edwin got pissed and made Sirven cut a deal ASAP with DISH. That's the only time I've ever heard about the Wrays getting involved in the day-to-day.

7:41 You are so right about the Michelle/Sheri comparison. I never put it together until you said that. Now Sheri never did over enunciate like Michelle does. I refer to her over enunciation as a "Sharon Frame ism." Both Michelle and Sharon over enunciate constantly. Now that may have been a requirement for them to receive their de-ploom-a.
As to you question the answer is yes, but no where near as bad as Sheri.

Very much like bad college radio habits.

I would choose to watch Liz Swain in a heartbeat. I'm the one who says Miz Waggoner looks like a worn out Judy puppet from a Punch and Judy show. I have morals and scruples, and I would not ridicule anyone for their natural God-given looks. But she makes her hair look like a ratty old doll wig on purpose. I have seen real people with blonde hair before, and this woman's hair is not even a human color. The puffed up lips don't look human either. And all that strange colored make-up, did she learn it from Tammy Faye Bakker? And then the phoney voice and the fake accent that grates on the nerves. It is hard to imagine that they couldn't just walk over to the Brookshire's store and grab anybody to do a much better job, and look like a normal human while doing it.

Obviously you are a viewer, and never worked with Liz. Those of us who did have a totally different opinion.

If you really do have "morals and scruples" and "would never criticize someone looks" like you said, you would not have slammed Judy like you just did. Comments like that are exactly what Marie Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond would say.

At 2:25 AM, January 06, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I said that I would not criticize anyone's natural, God-given looks. For an extreme example, Michael Jackson was a normal ordinary young man, and I would have never criticized him for his looks. Then he had himself made into some sort of horror movie monster before he eventually died from his own dysfunctional behavior. It is all of the fake and phony elements of Judy Waggoner's appearance that I "slammed".

I agree with 5:52 regarding the comments on Judy Waggonner. She really does not look OR sound very real. Her "fakeness" is what some of these posters are talking about.

Perception is of the eye of the beholder. I do not feel very comfortable listening to her give the news. So, I have stopped watching KTBS on the weekends.

Yes, it was a different style, but it was the same length. I see Jody's current hair style is still long, but it's much shorter then it was when she left.

Liz was probably a good reporter at one time but as far as viewer likeability, it wasn't really there. As someone else said, She did have a pretty hard stare at the prompter, put me ill at ease. Back when KTBS spent money on audience research & development, there was a viewer survey that revealed people thought Liz was more newsy but they liked seeing & hearing Sherri Allen/Talley better.

Liz came off as aloof and this was even noted during her mayoral campaign on other blogsites. A number of locals recounted how she publicly chewed out some poor news photog who drew the short straw and had to work with her when she got in one of "her moods". I recall seeing some KTBS "fans" come up to her in public just to say hello and she acted as if she was being put upon just to say hello for a few seconds. Contrast that to Sonja Bailes or Sherri Talley who were always nice when viewers said howdy. Total opposites.

I have to admit, I'm new to this area and this site (while harsh) has offered me hours of laughs. It's like a car crash you can't stop watching. I’ve worked in the business, have friends in the business and never have I read such nasty remarks. If these posts are mostly made my reporters, anchors, and “TV people,” that's just a shame. Competitive jealousy is one thing folks, but hateful bashing of people suffering in the same stressful job you do daily is just stupid. TV is the "smallest world" out there. Burn the wrong bridge and you're out. I'd advise learning from the stations better that your own and realize at the end of the day the number one goal is to provide viewers with the news that impacts their lives. To viewers, realize the people you see on TV are just that, people. We have feelings and faults. Some have huge egos, but some really care. But the best will always take the criticism and excel.

Thats so true CT. Broadcasting is a very small world and is getting smaller every day. There are half the broadcasters in this market as there were just four years ago. It's not just the Shreveport market either. I'm sure some of the same things are going on in your old market in South Louisiana as well.

At 8:35 PM, January 06, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

C.T.: Check back with us in a year or so after you've worked in TV in this market for awhile. It will be interesting to get your take on things then.

Yes broadcasting is a small world. I've seen my share of funny bosses, strange co-workers and nutso owners. But I have to agree that the stations on Planet Shrevesburg have had some pretty dysfunctional personalities ranging from owners, GMs, SMs, and on-air people to make for some interesting commentary.

And some of these people who get slammed, if you only knew half of their real stories, you'd get it.
The stuff here is just the icing, cut deeper in the cake and you'd really be amazed. Offering constructive criticism to some of the diva-types would be tantamount putting a gun in your mouth in the newsroom. It wouldn't end nicely, I know ... I've seen a few decent folks get their heads on a plate here in the past for trying to do as you suggest. I recall a co-worker offering words of encouragement to an on-air type who was tapped for a breaking live news event but was promptly reminded that this person has had offers to go to bigger mkts which implied: "I don't need no stinkin' encouragement!". Wow!

As for worrying about burning bridges or brownie points here...thanks to the anonymity of the web... who cares? Whether BS or not...this is a place for people to vent and it does some good. If nothing else it gives you "hours of laughs"...your cable signal must go out often. ;) One more thing, there's a lot of folks in local TV whose names don't show up here ...wonder why? It's not too much of stretch to figure that one out.

If you moved up here for the TV biz, enjoy the laughs while you can, it will be noteworthy to hear back from you after the newness wears off. If not in TV, well enjoy the laughs anyway.

Noone works at KMSS so noone is here to bash them. And it doesn't mean KSLA is more well loved than others because some KSLA on air and behind the scenes people bash their employers. Guess theyre just wiser about keeping it offline.

At 4:04 PM, January 08, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

If you look back far enough, of the Shreveport-Bossier stations, KTBS & KTAL seem to get the bulk of bashing. KTAL probably because MEE-Shell is on the air AND Nexstar corporate really won't go the distance and commit to improving on-air product but instead focuses on lowering costs. (They still have yet to go HD locally and it shows!)

KTBS let go a shit-pot full of folks a couple years ago and I suppose a lot of former KTBS staffers make up a considerable number of the comments about KTBS. Just a hunch as the GM there isn't too much of a people person.

Back when KSLA had Ed Bradley as GM, there were a ton of comments ranging from his proclivities to sexually harass employees to his crazy memos on employee underwear habits to his "That's Our Story" ridiculous on-air editorials. (Does anyone remember his tirade against interracial dating / marriage? "Bees fly with Bees... birds fly with birds.." Gawdalmighty!!)

KTBS is the station you love to hate and KTAL...well you just can't help commenting on the carwreck that has become. And given the number of key on-air staff departures at KTBS lately... that's what people are commenting on you KTBS suck-up!! Duh!!

It's true...he did rant on that and other ridiculous stuff. But his on-air tirades were the least of it. He allegedly had a number of employee complaints and inappropriate situations that many speculate had he not been of a "certain status", he would've gotten fired.
He tried to fire a certain KSLA anchorwoman after they supposedly/allegedly got caught "parking" on the side of the hwy by a Sheriff's Deputy or Trooper. She made it clear that if she was going to get canned, she was going to court. So corporate stepped in and she was tossed to weekends so she wouldn't have to cross Ed's path at work. It's a true story.
Funny how she and another Af American anchor gal wound up with short-lived CNN Headline News-reader gigs for about 6 months until they got yanked. Guess that was some corporate string-pulling to get a favor to keep 'em out of court.
Ed was a piece of work. The steps Raycom took to keep them from getting sued AND keep Ed as VP/GM were unbelieveable. Ask any former KSLA'er from that era and they might fill you in.

We couldn't make this up it was so bizarre.

6:03 and 6:08 are 100% correct. All that really happened. Raycom really put itself on the line with Ed so many times. They had more then enough reasons to let Ed go, but never did.

I am glad Jody Lowery is back. I have always thought she was a good anchor who does a fine job. I remember her on weekend mornings and she was always solid. But I do have a problem with KTBS. Sonja Bailes left and they replaced her with Chrissi Coile, another blonde. Sherri Talley left and they replaced her with Jody Lowery, a blonde. Stephen Mayer left and they replaced him with another, although significantly older, blonde in Judy Wagoner. I saw Angela Cruz at the desk last week and thought she was very good, but now I know why she is not anchoring and Judy is. They would never let a Hispanic on the air for too long, and by all means please keep the African American anchors outside the doors. Guess if you want more than white bread you have to go over to KSLA.

Regarding blacks as anchors, if I am not mistaken, Casey Ferand did some weekend anchoring when she was here. Rod White needs to learn to talk before he is given a chance to anchor.

Well excuse me for thinking she was Hispanic. All I was saying is that I thought she was a good anchor and got passed over because she's not white since she's not a permanent anchor and they have a permanent anchor in place, Judy, who is not as talented. I may not can tell who's this or that ethnicity but I know a bunch of white anchors when I see them. KTBS does not have any minority anchors or meteorologists. You would think they would want to fix that.

At 8:31 PM, January 12, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think they know their demographic, which in addition to the Wray family includes all the other white supremacists who think that black people don't speak well. If KTBS did not pander to this demographic, someone else would do so. We have a clear choice, we can watch the white folks on KTBS or the colored folks on KSLA. There might be a black person on KTBS every once in a while if they can speak and act white. I don't know if this is good or bad, but that is the way it is.

Ehh... I hardly watch any of them. Especially since they've gone to extended newscasts. Seems like the news product overall has declined a lot at both KSLA & KTBS. As for KTAL, I really never watched them much before Nexstar and what little I've seen since doesn't give me any urge to do so now.

No 4:39 that is being accurate. Besides this Shreveport-Bossier thing as only existed since the late 80's. Before that both cities never cooperated on anything.

Since we've pretty much ransacked KTBS, does anyone know what's happening over at KSLA? I see it appears Summer Knowles has been demoted to reporter in the mornings and Denise Middleton has moved into co-anchor spot.

Anyone want to guess how long it'll be before Summer goes elsewhere?

Yeah, I have noticed that. Dennis and Doug have been filling in at noon for several weeks now. Even with that change they still have multiple "mess ups" during the News at Noon every day.

I have heard some rumors that "sometime in the future" Summer might end up at KTBS.

At 10:50 AM, January 19, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

That is false because Summer Knowles wants to get the heck out of Shreveport and fast.

Can't blame her for that.

Is anyone else who used to work at KTBS or KSLA thinking about returning?

At 2:36 PM, January 20, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I can't imagine anyone from KTBS and KSLA coming back. There are enough people who have come and gone from both stations over the past 10-15 years to fully staff all our local stations.

Well Todd Warren came back to KTAL. Guess he must really like the area. You'd have to want to live here bad because all the stations have their issues and for most the money isn't all that great.

At 12:42 PM, January 21, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

You are right. Todd Warren did come back to Shreveport after a few years in Ohio. There are two reasons for that. One Todd got the chief meteorologist position at KTAL which was a promotion for him. Two Todd's wife is from here and a lot of locals do not want to move away. Even if that means the spouse has to get out of broadcasting in order for them to stay here. Just look some of the former on air talent who did just this. Mark Natale and Tony Taglavore at KSLA. Ed Baswell at KTBS. The list goes on and on.

To 12;42

I know exactly what you are talking about. I ran into a lot of that in Shreveport. I knew several guys in college who changed from broadcasting/journalism majors because their girlfriends, two of whom later became their wives, did not want them to pursue careers where they would have to relocate. God forbid those girls live more then 20 miles from mama.

I think Tony left KSLA or didn't get a contract renewed and moved off to work at a station in South Texas and then came back to work at a station in Monroe. Don't know what happened after that.

I heard trolls have taken over the sewer lines and they are operating under the front "Painted Ponies" in Shreveport. This was started by Vladimir Putin as he (who is really a she) tried to start his own Dairy Queen in Mansfield but that failed because John Wilkes Booth tried to partner with Pee Wee Herman for a urinal business venture. But the dictator of Uganda said "Red Rover Red Rover" and everyone said "okay."

Seeing as how everything here is bullshit I thought I would provide the most clear information and not hearsay.

Has anyone heard from Stephen? How does he like Kansas City?

At 9:02 AM, January 24, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Has Stephen actually started working yet? I have been looking on KCTV's website for weeks and they still do not have Stephen's profile posted.

At 9:06 AM, January 24, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Damn. All the sudden interest in Stephen. When he was in Shreveport you couldn't wait for him to leave.

At 10:34 AM, January 24, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I suspect that some wanted him to leave, and some wanted him to stay. As for me, I like Jody.mu

At 2:20 PM, January 24, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Is he even working there yet? Been checking out all the Kansas City stations websites for several weeks and Stephen's profile has not been added as of this morning.

At 9:24 AM, January 25, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Maybe that Kansas City station uses the same computer person that KTBS uses to make updates on the news personnel. How long has Jody been back and there is still no bio on her?

At 2:20 PM, January 25, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Exactly. They are quick to pull someones bio off the website, but they take their sweet time posting new ones.

And does any one know if they filled all of the 8 openings they are advertising on the web site? I know one of those postings is for Jody's job.

At 1:42 PM, January 26, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

That's right. It took KTBS forever to put Alexandra Cranford's bio on the website.

At 12:26 PM, January 27, 2012, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I thought KTBS was supposed to have this bad ass, constantly updated website. Jody's been back what two or three weeks now? Her bio is not on the website either.

Must be other "priorities" these days.
