Fall Brings Change to KARK

At KARK- Melissa Simas moves to dayside and only anchor 5pm. Jessica Dean will be new 6 and 10pm anchor. Trager moves to weekends. Happening very soon.

Wow. Jessica took down both Jancy and M'lissa. She is a hottie, but so are the other two, I don't understand this strategy.
What about Bob? If you clean house, don't do it half way. They should hire Chris Kane for the main guy and Ed buckner as the weather guy!!!!!
What about Wendy and Mallory being demoted? Are they going to Sunday Today?

More like a chin length bob. It would give her a more credible look and add a more professional air to the newscast
People don't care about "air" added to the newscast. They want the news read to them by anyone who can read a teleprompter in a newscast without making a mistake. Which, in this market, is none.
3:05 It's sad but so true. I miss two of our old readers we had years ago. At least they could wing it when the prompter went down, or if the changes put in during the break didn't take.
Off the subject a bit. Has any one heard any news lately on the possible Nexstar sale? I have not heard anything about it since August.
Yeah, just what is going on with the sell? I've asked around but every time I bring it up it's like I'm asking about state secrets. Very weird.
FYI-Lauren Trager has other job offers. It's not definite that she's staying in LR at KARK.
That would be a disaster for them if Lauren left...she is the best reporter by far!

She had her meteorologist reel online, but a station called her to anchor full time.

Is WCAV a step up or down from the Central AR market? I though it would have been a step up but was surprised they would have not hired someone with more anchor experience if they were a larger market.
I am happy for Michelle as I was not she got what she deserved at KATV.

What the hell is going on with KARK? I thought they had finally made the moves to go from third (or fourth?) string to a major player in this market. They nailed the HD transition and the most professional-looking presentation going, plus a lot of good young talent on air. Now, with this weatherman fiasco and all the resulting fallout (all weather reporting from anyone but Dee being terrible, playing musical chairs with anchors, etc.), I've finally given up being on the KARK bandwagon and will have to suck back up to...KTHV...again. Ugh.
Unfortunate timing for KARK with the Cummins' scandal breaking while trying to break the creeeeepy non-emotional elf in for primetime weather, but this has gotten ridiculous. *All* the broadcasts have suffered.
7 is just mad that they lost Jessica. I think it's a great move! Hope they keep Lauren though.

KARK needs new local management, period. The purpose of a news station is to report the news, not make the news.

I know and like Lauren. If she got an offer in mkt 4 she will take it. There is a difference though in talking to a station and getting an offer. I wish Trager the best...she is ready to move up.

What are they doing with the current two girls on mornings at kark if jessica dean is moving there?
Why dont they put Greg Dee on at 5,6,10 during week because he knows Arkansas weather alot better than the new guy who seems little weird to me. If we have another tornado they better put on Dee or Little Rock will be in alot of trouble with the new guy trying to guess where which town is located in Arkansas.
Don't worry. The NWS will advise him like they do all the other weather guessers in this market and all other markets. Local guessers have no idea what the weather is going to do until they read the messages from NWS.
Looking for a station to be the first and install their own weather center (should be in the weather garden)with all the bells an whistles to make it look more real and teach the guessers how to use the equipment.
Just wanted to thank you, not just because the nice post, but pretty much more because my grandfather is nearly recovering from his surgery and he has almost nothing to do but staying on bed all day, his best source of entertainment has been this blog and I feel this is something good for him and his recovery.
