KARK Weather Guesser at the Wrong Place at the Wrong Time....
The Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports KARK weather guesser Brett Cummins was questioned in the death of a friend. The paper says Cummins is not considered a suspect in the death of his friend who was found dead in a hot tub. AR DEM/Gaz reports alcohol and drugs were involved. Cummins is off the air at this time. It's been no secret bc is gay. I think everyone in little rock has known it for years. Just now it makes the news.
Sounds like there was too much blow-ing going on in one way or another... This story has instant classic written all over it.

Nobody cares that Brett is gay, the story is that he was found in a home with a dead body and illegal drugs. I have no doubt that this was a terrible accident, but to say it should not have made the news is foolish. I also find it odd that Brett was off today to "mourn the death of his friend," but apparently he was feeling well enough to work Monday just hours after the body was discovered. I feel terrible for the victim's family though, if Brett wasn't there the story would not have received this much attention.

I don't care if Brett is gay or not. But I am concerned about his choice to do drugs. His careless, reckless behavior will more than likely cost him his job at KARK. Hopefully this will be a wake-up call for him and he will get the professional help that he needs.
or KARK could take the signal media approach like with tommy smith and look the other way as long as he goes to rehab...i still cant believe that man still has is job but i digress...thats another blog :-)

It's not the gay part that's the job killer here. It's the illegal drugs ... & likely the combination of alcohol that caused the death of his friend while they were so screwed up to know there was a problem. Waking up next to a naked dead man in an empty jacuzzi tub doesn't help. The story has gone viral - even carried by the NY Times. Mr Cummins can kiss his TV days goodbye for good now. What a shame -a loss of a career & a life for what? Just sad. :( Hopefully this will be a huge wake up call for Brett.

This story is bizarre, certainly. And I'm sure there's been a good deal of snickering in newsrooms and among viewers. Make all the jokes you want in private, but I don't think this is something to joke about on a public blog. A person is dead. Yes, it apparently involved drugs, partying, and who knows what else--but a 24-year-old man is still dead. And another person's life has been ruined. Brett will no doubt lose his job, and now that the story's made the national news, this will follow him forever. Every single one of us has made a bad decision (or two) in his or her life. Most of us are fortunate that things didn't turn out worse and the mistake didn't come under public scrutiny. I can't imagine his state of mind right now, but I'm sure it's fragile. I wouldn't want to be the one who made the remark that sends him over the edge. It's really a sad situation.

But they won't . He a goner at KARK !!!
Being in third place doesn't allow them the luxury of backing Brett or should it. Clamoring will be strong for his ouster will be swift and won't go away
Check the ratings. I believe KARK has been number two at five and six for sometime now. But don't let the facts stand in the way on this blog.

Wow ! This story about the gerbil wrangler is everywhere this morning. ABC, CNN are really excited !!
If his 2009 re-hire by KARK was under court order I imagine the station would jump at the chance to get rid of him now.
what were the details of the 2009 dismissal? Wasn't he the chief met at that time? I knew that Mike was promoted and held the position when BC came back.

Brett may be a goner at KARK and Nexstar, but most probably he will not be out of broadcasting all together. A few years ago Nexstar had several drug and alcohol issues at KTAL in Shreveport. The morning show Met was arrested for DWI. One of the reporters was also arrested for DWI. Then the weekend anchor and the morning show director were pulled over in the same car in Monroe and sighted for having less then half a joint in their car they were in. The morning show director is the only one of the four who is no longer in broadcasting so Brett's chances of staying in the business are still very high.
A DWI and a joint are daily reports. A naked dead man on you who you drank and snorted drugs with along with a third man in the tub.. eh, a manager might keep you, but another manager might not want to hire you.
Again, this isn't a DWI, this was in national newspapers and websites.
It's a tragic and odd story but so far can Brett be charged with anything? Not murder.

Brett's troubles was part of Jay Leno's monologue Thursday night. Jay didn't mention Brett's name but he did mention that he was a weatherman for one of their affiliates.
Gay men choosing a job where they put on make-up and play-act, or read the news, or guess the weather on television--just so shocking, who would have ever thunk it?
Brett will be charged and will spend time in jail for this. His career is over.

I have just tried to watch Brian Willaims evening news. It is very annoying to have the newwork audio cut down so the NBC chimes can let us know a weather ticker is being displayed. Why does this happen? It does not happen for local programs, just nework....

FWIW, the NBC Chimes, heard for years on NBC, are actually the musical notes, G, E, and C (General Electric Company. So now you know.

Stage name...I'm sure he told his mother in the womb to name him that since its been his name since he was young. I have heard of people complaining about the weather, but not the name of the people that are forecasting it...
