More Reporters Leaving Shreveport?
As the Red River rises, it seems a couple of reporters/anchors at KTAL could be on a boat out of the Ark-La-Tex. A tipster tells ATN,"Shannon Slattons contract is up and it is just a matter of time before she leaves AND "also Alexis Wiley is looking for another job and will buy the contract out."

KSLA News 12 has just lost another photographer. Long time photoghapher John Chambers up and quit! He is the second photog to throw in the towel in months.
I guess he heard about the random drug tests about to be put in place for photogs at 12?
I'm excited that tonight KATV is going to show me how to ride the bus.
I hope they have tips like:
1) Try to Use exact change
2) Put your money in this thingy at the front of the bus
3) Sit down in any empty seat
4) Push this rubber thing on the wall that goes ding to tell the driver you want to get off.
5) Walk to the open doors and get off
See using public transportation is easy.
i hope the piece is done in smell-o-vision.

Little Rock news just gets worse and worse, but you stupid Arkansas people can't see it because you have never left the state long enough to watch anything else. What happened to KATV? Didn't that place used to be good?

KATV is living off their past glory of the early '90's, and their growing audience of the AARP crowd without cable or satillite. Another sign of KATV'd demise, during the tail end of an old movie shown this past weekend, a Blue Hippo Ad (you hear that right) appeared during an ad break. Guess it won't be long before Tony Cotton starts making his home over on "7".

Shannon Slatton's departure is no big secret. Her position has been posted on TV jobs for more than a month.
Soon there will be lots of changes at KTAL. Nexstar will likely sell the station. They've spent a lot of money sprucing the place up. And some "men in suits" have already been seen touring the station. When the new owners come in, who knows what will happen to the on-air staff.
As long as KATV still have Beth Hunt & Kristen Fisher & Jessica Dean, we don't care who leaves Shreveport!!

KTAL is staffed with news management that just collects a check. Someone should be held accountable for the rash of bad on-air talent hires in the past year. C'mon, Rick Boone is Not cutting it! Just ask your ratings, co-workers and viewers.
The inanity of local TV news is symptomatic of the challeges pressing local TV everywhere. The superficiality of the news content and those reading it is transparent even to the casual observer. The pedestrian nature of local TV news coverage in Little Rock is hardly commensurate with the ravenous desire for in-depth coverage and analysis. News lite is cute but less filling, and leave you feeling all hollow no matter how pretty or handsome or sexy the talking heads reading the inanity.

Doubt that Nexstar would sell it's biggest property in its holdings. I believe KTAL was (and still is) it's biggest (and best) performing property incomewise.
Just a thought worth considering.
The station(s) in the S'port/Texarkana market that have been on the block for sometime now are KMSS and KSHV...but the asking price is too high.

Losing Shannon Slatton would be a major blow for KTAL. She is by far the best anchor they have. Channel 6 manages to suck the life out of its people. Best of luck to her!
Wiley on the other hand should be banished right away. Her on camera presence is disturbing.

KTAL would have made Cliff main anchor. But Rick Boone beat him to the punch. See what $100,000 will buy you. One fake brotha, that can't read the news. Or it could have bought KTAL some needed equipment so they could really be live instead of just putting live on a stand-up that was shot midday.

Good luck to Shannon in her future endeavors. She is the best at that dump of a station. I also wish the best to Alexis. For the News Director (the one who just collects his check becuase he is to broke to retire) the News Manager (Can you really call yourself that? Is that why you demand RESPECT and then take people into the sound proof rooms and do only God knows what to them if they go against you in any way.) and the Station head (just sits in his office thinks his a big shot and has no idea what real news is) can all "F" themselves. They probably do becuase no woman in their right mind would come close to them with a ten foot poll. Yes I know 2 of them are married and they should suffer in hell right with their life sucking husbands. They would probably agree with me themselves if they knew anything that went on behind those station walls.
Management at KSLA just needs to WAKE UP!! They've lost and fired some great employees.
Dave Schwartz has taken a job up north somewhere. That's just one of the many departures at hand.
