AB Blogger: U of A to Eventually Take Over Sports Broadcasts
Arkansas Business Playing the Field blogger Jim Harris says to expect the University of Arkansas to eventually take back its sports broadcasting. Below is an excerpt from his blog:
Eventually, the UA will own its broadcast arm outright. Officials in the Broyles Complex now regret not having the foresight a few years back to go the route of several Southeastern Conference schools by creating its own broadcast outlet. At the time, they saw outsourcing the broadcasting in the same way they sell the concessions rights at Reynolds Razorback Stadium. But, with the Internet capability of broadcasting all its media and producing it in house, controlling it all from the Broyles Complex, that view has changed.
Now, they are trying to change to view of ARSN and Dale Nicholson that that lead broadcaster of the Hogs should be based out of Fayetteville, not Little Rock. The way it appeared yesterday in the radio polling, the fans around here seem convinced already.

The radio broadcaster *should* be based out of Fayetteville.
That is where the freaking University is.
Now, that we've established that: Chuck B. is *NOT* the man for the job.
UofA is increasingly a northwest Arkansas only event. They couldn't care less about anyone south of Little Rock
Looks like old Dale will not only retire with the #2 or #3 station in the market, he'll also be responsible for letting the Hogs go.
Looks like he'll have to pay for tickets from now on.
"UofA is increasingly a northwest Arkansas only event."
And the problem with that is...?
The problem is that more and more Arkansas people hate the Razorbacks... just becuase of the snobbish attitude the writer above exemplifies. Screw the Hogs. We just need to cheer for our local high school teams.
So more and more people hate the Razorbacks because of...where the school is located? Good riddance to them, then.
Have fun watching UAPB...

How many Hog games have you been to each year for the past 10 years?
Considering the amount of money they spend on facilities and other amenities they should win more than occasional championships.
They can't even claim a consensus national championship from the 1960s.
I expect greater returns on my investments.
What a joke!
Plus, less than 10% graduate from college. That is a disgrace.
There are no public funds used for athletics. As a matter of fact it's what helps fund a lot of academic projects. What investment do you have in that?
"less than 10% graduate from college"
Can't you read?
I was talking about the money I used to contribute to athletics until I realized it was just to satisfy the wealthy so they could have more private suites to watch the team continue to talk about the glory days of the 1960s and the disputed championship.
Do those student athletes not use any of the classrooms or items supplied by public funds? If not, I stand corrected. Otherwise, public funds are mixed in with privately-funded athletic scholarships.
I thought all you needed to know to graduate from the U of A was "Welcome to Wal-Mart. Would you like a buggy?"
Is it true that Frank is scheduling a meeting in Little Rock to discuss ending the ARSN contract early. You heard it here first.
The decision to hire Chuck B. is about as smart of a decision of Vince McMahon to hold a tribute for a wrestler who had just strangled his wife, smothered his kid, then hung himself in his own weight room.
Fire Houston Nutt.

...and ASU!!!
Amen and Amen!
Please cheer for ASU...that would be awesome.
You can travel to Jonesboro and have a great time. Please cheer for ASU...
We can't fill our staduim now so we need all the help we can get.
We are also looking for a new mascot. New fans can really help us with that one. Let's find something that will bring the whole state together.
We used to be the Aggies but I don't like that name.
Should we move a couple of games to The Rock?
You know we aren't on TV but once every 5 years or so.
Hey, we have been to one bowl in the last 50 years so you can be home with your family over the holidays.
Oh I almost forgot....We also have a Coach Nutt.
GO ASU!!!!!!
Most, if not nearly all, of the the "Big" colleges and universities in this country have their own broadcast facitities, usually more modern and functional than local broadcast stations. But not the U of A. What really needs to be done is spend some of that ath-a-let-ic money on equipment instead of inflated salaries for coaches that do nothing six months out of the year.
They have more than you think. They even have a satellite truck. KFSM doesn't even have that.
Well, they don't use whatever they have. Do they?
I am sure that they have ample resources to finance any endeavor that Ole Frank might want. Wait a minute . . . there go his raises.
