May Book: The Ups and Downs in the Little Rock Market
Arkansas Business.com has more numbers from the May book. As the article points out, "it was KTHV-TV, Channel 11's turn to see at least some of that decline. KATV-TV, Channel 7, experienced faded numbers in February, and KARK-TV, Channel 4, saw a decrease in November."
The article has the numbers. Below are a few comments the GM's from the stations made to AB.com:

"The Little Rock market, for the first time in many years, has three television stations -- KARK, KATV and KTHV -- that are at parity in relative strength," said Rick Rogala, general manager at Nexstar Broadcasting Group-owned KARK, which does not subscribe to the Nielsen's.
"It's like watching a NASCAR race, with three cars running side by side down the straightaway after each car leading around a different turn," he said. "We continue to hear from more and more viewers who are responding to our focus on local news that is relevant to their lives in Arkansas. That's the fuel that powers our engine."
> "I am so very pleased to see the viewers of central Arkansas continue to embrace our news offering," said Chuck Spohn, general manager at KLRT. "I expect this growth to continue as more and more Arkansans discover Fox 16 News."

Well, they know when it looks like crap and half the lights are aimed wrong. If you are in the business of TV and if you don't know incorrect lighting when you see it you need to get out of the business.

Never happen to a "Yes" man. Cannot make a decision or have a creative thought with out the GM
Can KLRT dump the early newscasts (5, 5:30pm) and adopt a "Good Day Little Rock"--Memphis and Tulsa FOX stations have local news in the morning, it would sure beat James Robinson hawking crap on his informercials.
Fox 16 is fun to watch. The female anchor is always trying to 'turn viewers on', while one of the male anchors puts people to sleep. Seriously, trying too hard to be sexy is funny.

FOX16 is adding a four hour morning show starting in 2008.
Overnights would be great but to get meters it's about 1 million a station.
We have one station that doesn't even subscribe to Neilson.

In ten years you will all be gone and no one will care about studio lighting. Better polish up on your website building skills because this industry has a finite shelf-life.
Lighten up super competitors. Don't take yourself so seriously. Maybe you could even avoid trashing your colleagues at other stations. This is market fifty something and there are only 50 states. This is not life or death and this blog site reeks of petty small minds that think this speck on earth is of utmost importance. So important that you are willing to lose all class and rip away at people who have the exact same job as you do and are probably more like you than anyone else.
This blogger had to put ANOTHER story about the ratings because no one cares about any of the other subjects. He knows only this will awaken your inner asshole and make you blog away.

2008? New owners sign off? First 2005. Then 2006. THEN 2007. Of course you will say 2008. Promises, promises, lies. Lies about that and everything else that goes on there.
the problem with these ignorant people is thay put too much emphisis on experience and education, if they hire people on life experience and what they have it would make TV worth watching.
Maybe THAY need an education!
And if you did not notice, that's with an emphasis, not emphisis, on THAY! Ha!
