Inman Not Sure He'll Host ARSN Scoreboard Show

KATV anchor Scott Inman is not sure whether or not he'll continue as the host of the ARSN Scoreboard Show. Inman comments to the AD-G:

Inman would not comment on the statement or his name being withdrawn from consideration when reached Tuesday evening.

“That’s something that would be better to ask Dale Nicholson,” Inman said.

Inman spent the past eight years hosting ARSN’s scoreboard show, and he said he has been asked to continue in that role. It is unclear if he will.

“That’s something I’ve yet to decide,” Inman said. “It’s been told to me that I’m welcome to stay. That’s something I’ll have to think about.”

He put in eight years doing that rinky-dinky show.. then he gets passed over for some ass-kisser to be the voice of the Razorbacks. Why should be keep doing the show ?

I wouldn't blame Inman if he told them to find someone else to do ARN's Scoreboard Show this season.
The UA and ARN clearly can't recognize talent, since they chose a minor leaguer like Chuck Barrett over a polished professional like Inman.
It sure would have been nice to have heard Inman's quality voice featured nationally on forum's such as ESPN during DMac's many expected TD runs this season.
It would have projected a professional image our state and football program could really use.
Instead, we'll get Barrett, a man who doesn't even enunciate properly, and his bush league sound.
Embarrassing indeed.
Have to hand it to Barrett, though.
The man kissed Broyles' and Nutt's rear ends long enough to land the much coveted job.
It's really hard to believe we're replacing a true legend like the late Paul Eells with someone of Barrett's quality.
I'd also like to know why Dale Nicholson backed down from his dispute with Broyles over the Inman vs. Barrett scenario.
Could be that Broyles just had more power in the end - something he's been good at for almost 50 years.
Sorry you lost out, Scott.
Many of us Razorback fans feel your pain ... at the thought of hearing Barrett's voice.

Anyone else think part of the reason Inman didn't get the job was because he is an ASU grad and Broyles wouldn't stand for an ASU grad to call the hog games???

If you run a rinky dink program you deserve a rinky dink announcer. Barret fits in fine.

my question is will Barrett refer to anyone else as terrorists and jihadists on the air like he did the anti-nutt faction of Hog fans? this is what it has come to...we are replacing the legend that was Paul Eells with a person that compares those who don't share his opinion with terrorists and jihadists. I guess the old saying is right..."it's not what you know, but rather who you know that matters."

Pathetic. J. Frank Broyles can not be gone soon enough.

It sounds a little like Scott got caught in the middle of a Dale vs Frank deal.

At 2:13 PM, June 27, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

All one has to do is look around the SEC's group of PBP announcers and then compare what they have to this pathetic choice. JFB has done a lot of good for the program over the years, but it appears his ego and age is now having a detrimental impact. I'm not the fan I once was and I live 10 minutes from RRS. Sad that two people (JFB and HDN) can be allowed to drive a program this deep in the mire of mediocrity.

Frank allows an ASU grad to run the football video operation. There are also several other ASU RTV grads working for the UA. Hell, ASU RTV students work UA football games as crew members when televised by ESPN. That's been happening for at least the past 3-4 years.

I mean Barrett is in town and can actually do his research on the team and stuff, talk to players and coaches, and gather info. Scott can't do that until Friday night. They argued image...neither one of them has a large presense in the others area. The UA just tries to make drama out of nothing

Who cares. Public education in Arkansas has been, and continues to be, a huge problem. UA educators rank next to last in compensation. How much are Frank and Houston making?

Time to start caring about something important... like the education of our children.

Hello?? Channel 7 "withdraws Inman from the running"? Please!!! If you read the letters between Nicholson and Broyles, you know Channel 7 didn't withdraw his name from consideration. Broyles said it was NOT going to be Inman. Believe me, KATV would give anything to have their main news anchor or any of their talent as the "Voice of the Razorbacks." What a horrible spin by KATV. Granted, many on here and in the newspaper community fell for it.

This is utterly remarkable. I don't think any of you Hog fans realize what a true gift you all have.

I graduated University of South Carolina, and before that I lived in Knoxville and Atlanta. I've been around the SEC my entire life, and there is no team in a more unique situation than the Razorbacks. First of all, you guys have no true in-state competition. Therefore, people born and raised here (which represents an astounding portion of the population) have no other choice but the Hogs. You guys have a built-in audience of dedicated fans.

However, that audience is, by and large, ridiculously unrealistic. Because of Arkansas' isolation from the rest of the conference (the closest school to Fayetteville is in Oxford, MS), they don't get the recruiting exposure the other schools get. And yet year after year, Hogs fans act like they should be undefeated. And if they're not, they want to fire their coach.

Lend me your ear. Put it close to the screen so you don't misunderstand me. HOUSTON NUTT IS ONE OF THE TOP THREE COACHES IN THE SEC!!! I would rate him behind Spurrier and Tuberville, and about even with Fulmer, Meyer and Miles. You guys have a fantastic coach who won ten games in the toughest conference in football. The only games you lost were to teams who finished in the top ten!

Get a clue Arkansas. You have a very good program, a classy head coach and a decent chance to win ten games again this year. The only thing you guys have to gripe about is that Chuck Barrett is your new voice.

Oh, and to the idiot who wrote that more people don't care about Arkansas than do, get out of your library and talk to some real people. This state is disproportionately Razorback fans, even if those fans want to kill the golden goose.

At 1:42 PM, June 30, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

In my opinion the title "Voice of the Razorbacks" is one that should be earned, not automatically given. Paul Eells was there nearly 30 years and earned the title. Mike Nail has been there broadcasting the basketball games for just about as long and has earned the title. As far as I'm concerned, Chuck Barrett does not deserve, nor should he even remotely be considered "The Voice". He's got to earn it, just like others before him have. And considering he enjoys relating extremist terrorists and those who disagree with Houston Nutt, he won't be getting any respect from me any time soon. Scott Inman should have gotten the job, hands down. Oh, and 9:08 PM, June 27, do be sure and let us know when your surgery to keep your lips permanently attached to Chuck's behind is complete.

Oh, and to the idiot who wrote that more people don't care about Arkansas than do, get out of your library and talk to some real people.

Folks, this is the type of person that is living in a dream world. Listen, more people attend other colleges in this state than the U of A at Fayetteville. More people cheer for other colleges in this state than the U of A. If you think otherwise then you are just fooling yourself. Are you a former jock washer wannabe for Old Frank and Huston?

As a lifelong Razorback fan, 1:27 p.m., June 27, I appreciate your many kind words.
Our's is indeed a unique program within the SEC in many ways.
However, I must disagree with your assertion that Houston Nutt is one of the three top coaches in the SEC.
Nutt has proven he is incapable of winning the big game, nor able to compete consistently on a national level.
As Hog fans, we have been convinced that our poor, backwards state simply cannot compete with the true college football powers on a regular basis.
What a load of BS!
Nutt's lack of a creative offense and his playing not to lose, rather to win, has handicapped the Hogs since his arrival.
And, I should point out, this comes from a one-time Nutt supporter.
I've since grown tired of his rah-rah methods, insecurity and refusal to take responsiblity for his poor coaching decisions.
We won't even get into the strong possibility that he may have had a direct role in running off Mitch Mustain from the U of A.
I no longer respect Nutt as a coach or a person.
So thanks for the kind words, but we must agree to disagree on Nutt being an SEC coaching gem - more like a lump of coal, in my opinion.
Go Hogs!

Yes if you combine the other schools in this state against the U of A than yes there are more students at other Schools....but here is a question I ask you....How many of those teams fill their home stadium with more than 70,000 people? Does their stadium seat 70,000 people?

When ASU, UCA or UAPB play in Little Rock do they have as many people at those games as when the HOGS play here?

If you hate the Hogs so much than more on. You take time out of your day to come here and talk about thing you don't like, then I encourge you to do something positive with your time.

The problem is that more and more Arkansas people hate the Razorbacks... just becuase of the snobbish attitude the writer above exemplifies. Screw the Hogs. We just need to cheer for our local high school teams.

Well, you are answering. Who's the dummy.

At 1:50 PM, July 01, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

2:51, Did you seriously just use the words "lack of creative offense"? Were you watching last year? You guys reinvented offense! The Wildcat formation with McFadden lined up as QB gave defensive coordinators fits! Can't win the big game? What do you call last year's wins against Auburn and Tennessee?

This is what I was talking about when I say you guys are unrealistic. Wake up! You guys finished first in arguably the toughest division in college football! And if it weren't for Reggie Fish's numbskulled fumble, you all could well be the reigning SEC champions. You can't put that on Nutt.

As for running off Mitch Mustain, this is where you and I couldn't agree less. That whiny little brat came into school thinking he deserved some kind of special treatment, even more than the best college football player in recent memory. Instead of pandering to this little b****, Nutt did the right thing for Arkansas and featured McFadden. He did it despite pressure from all sides to kiss Mustain's butt. If Mustain couldn't deal with that, than you guys don't want him in your locker room any more than you want Terrell Owens in there.

Here's the biggest problem though with firing Houston Nutt. Who's going to want to coach there now? After seeing the crap Nutt went through after winning ten games, what coach in their right mind would want to deal with that? I wouldn't. If you do fire Houston Nutt, you're not going to get a Nick Saban or an Urban Meyer. You're going to end up with a second-rate coach who's willing to put up with absurd expectations, because it's a step up his career ladder.

Bottom line, Nutt's a very good coach who is willing to put winning above pandering to crybabies. He's also willing to stick it out with the U of A. Remember, a few years back, he could have been gone. Honestly, if my boy Steve Spurrier ever left USC and we hired Houston Nutt, I would not complain. (Neither would Nutt, I don't think.)

At 3:03 PM, July 01, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree with above poster... there's not another winning coach that would even touch the U of A. Look at what you have in Basketball. John Pelphrey? He coached at what Alabama directional school. You guys were hoping for the dude from A & M who didn't even know where Arkansas was located. Please! If Nutt goes, so does what little football program you have there.
He's taken 2nd rate talent and competed and beaten some of the better teams in the SEC.

I agree about Mitch. He was a huge WHINER, and went running back to mommy because he didn't start. Big freakin' whoop! Yes he was a talented QB, but you don't want that kind on your team. Even the members of the hogs didn't like him. Be glad he's gone!

And it's funny that you bring up Darren McFadden. Lets just say that he isn't a Houston Nutt fan (I'm sure you Arkansas folks will be thrilled to hear that, too).

If you want to swap us Spurrier for Nutt, then lets make the trade.

Spurrier may not be an angel, but at least he has (and can) win.

Yes they're in the same conference now. But they haven't always been...here's a little info from Wikipedia

The series was suspended after the 1907 game when the schools could not come to agreement over the amount of expenses to be paid players, as well as from where officials for the game should be obtained.

Auburn president Dr. Ralph B. Draughon and Alabama president Dr. John Gallalee decided during the winter and spring of 1948 to end the disagreement and renew the series after fighting what they considered interference into their internal affairs by the state legislature.

That happened long before the SEC. Thanks for playing.

but Missouri doesn't claim to be God's gift to college sports either...and by the way 12:53 i checked and ASU and UA ARE on the same level...division 1! so tell the boys on the hill to back up all the smack they talk about dominating by playin some in-state comp...it would save them money to not have to travel and it would draw more fans to some of these games than playing say...Troy, UNT, FIU, and Chattanooga...good non-con going there...i like the argument they have nothing to gain by playin ASU...so i guess this power non-con schedule will catapult them to #1 in the polls, oh and not to mention that ASU is 7-0 the past 7 times against all the SBC teams on there...and who really thinks that IF ASU does beat them in something major (football/basketball) that it spells the end of UA athletics?? They have very nice facilities and they're in a power conference...they won't lose much, sounds like somebody's making excuses

It comes down to the fact that a loss to ASU would not be good for in-state recruiting. And if they play ASU then it says they are on the same level.

Unless the state steps in, the game will never happen.

Missouri? What have they ever won? Why don't you give a major player for example?
