Former KAIT Met Coming Home to Arkansas
Formery KAIT (Jonesboro) Meteorologist Shane Carter has accepted the position of Marketing Director in his hometown of Paragould, Arkansas. Shane has worked at KJRH in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

No TV station in Paragould, AR. Maybe MD of the Dr. Pepper plant.
There is no Dr. Pepper plant or bottling company... It's the hospital... which someone already mentioned.
i heard md of wal-mart nw arkansas,notsure if correct.
kait in jonesboro is needing a station mgr.theirs is going to sc.a reiable source told me he is going there.

What happened to the plant? It was there about six months ago. Mr. Bland was the CEO.

Paragould is in NE Arkansas.
I think the person meant that they quit bottling Dr. Pepper. They still bottle RC and 7Up.... In any case, that's not where Shane is going to be working.
And yes, The Blands still owns the bottling company.
It's just because he doesn't have a third leg like the chicken does.

Old news...he's going to be the GM for the new NBC affil in Myrtle Beach that Raycom is building. The GM in Jonesboro is the marketing guy from KLTV in Tyler, Texas. Also a Raycom property.
What isn't old news is that the station still has numerous problems with audio when showing video packages, SOT, etc. Just how long does it take to learn new equipment?
That's the second former AIT met to move into Media Relations/PR at a hospital.

Shane is actually the third KAIT personality to make the move into healthcare marketing. He is the second to go to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. (Tony Brooks was the first).
Doug Doggett left KAIT to go to work for Region's bank, and is now VP of Marketing for St. Bernards Healthcare.
This trend is not unique to northeast Arkansas, but it is certainly alarming. These organizations are opting for face instead of knowledge in the fields of public perception and/or media relations.
I've seen Tony Brooks doing stuff for AETN lately. That guy has gotten enormous. Thought I was watching a wildlife special on elephant seals... turned out it was Tony !
marketing is knowing your community and their needs.being known from tv is a plus.I am sure these guys have the degrees and the knowledge to do a good job,or the hospitals won't hire them.
Tony Brooks is Director Of PBS/AETN now and has been for quite some time. Arkansas Educational Television Network Is headquartered in Conway Arkansas and is rebroadcast on different transmitters throughout the state. He is indeed in charge at AETN now though.
Congraduation Shane, from an old buddy. And I used to work at KAIT as a photog. The stations cameras were old them, and I'm sure they are old now. It takes about 2 months for a brand new photog to get his legs under him or her.

1) Marketing is much more than knowing your community. These guys are just 'faces' to get into social magazines and be seen at charity functions.
2) Being known from TV a plus? It's the only reason they get hired.
3) Unless they done any work in advertising placement, crisis communications or brand strategy they are entry-level.

Shane and I grew up living next door to each other, so I've known him my entire life. I can't imagine Shane working in any industry other than TV, although I'm sure he'd be great at media relations too. Shane, I wish you the best of luck in your new career direction!
