THV News at Noon and Positively Arkansas to Divorce
Arkansas Business.com reports beginning in September, KTHV's noon newscast will be 100 percent news and Positively Arkansas will move to 9:30am. AB.com says Channel 11 will stop airing Live With Regis & Kelly at 9am and will pick up Let's Play Crosswords.

Who's picking up Live?
I would bet Fox 16 or KARK
Actually My Network is picking it up.
Do you mean to tell me that KTHV is going to keep airing that Positively Arkansas show? Who is the female on that show related to at the station?
It's about time! THV needs to put News and Weather back on at noon. There needs to be a second choice for news at noon.
Yeah, but is B.J. going to be the newsreader and put the viewers to sleep.
THV needs someone as hot as Melissa Simas, that would be a very interesting battle. Too bad Kelly George is going to KNWA. Maybe when she's more experienced in TV, and her college is finished, she can come back to Little Rock.
thv has already chosen a noon anchor. she's in promotions and has never been in news before. a pretty face... that is all.
"thv has already chosen a noon anchor. she's in promotions and has never been in news before. a pretty face... that is all."
That's good. B.J. should be ready for a nap by noon.
You must be kidding about the noon anchor with zero experience. An anchor in this market should at least have a strong reporting background. I expect more from KTHV.
Simas needs to buy a set !
An anchor needs a strong reporting background? That's just funny!
Today's number is 4 down and the jackpot is $83.26.
Today's number is 34A
I'm just tired of Jason Peterson
There is NOTHING wrong with Simas!
I like Peterson. I am tired of Soyouseeher Tonsils.
For such an expert, you can spell either name right.
Make that "can not"
This move will be a mistake and this move will bore arkansas people more.
The 3:03 poster couldn't see that Soyouseeher Tonsils is spelled that way on purpose? I pray that person is not a reporter!
It's just the noon show people. Big deal. They are choosing somebody they can give some experience and promote in a couple of years, that' all.
still, no experiece? Is this market 100? Who is doing it?
all of these blogs on here sound like the Willie Lynch idealogy about waht you said about tonsall.
Theba Lolley is going to do the noon show?
I genuinely like KARK's Sonseeahray Tonsall's reporting and anchoring.
However, I feel her truly unique name is a career drawback if she insists on keeping it.
Granted, it would be difficult for her to change it now that she's been in the Little Rock market for so long, but maybe at her next stop up the TV news ladder.
She's a talented lady and, as I understand it, has a fine reputation among her fellow reporters.
The name, though, gets in the way, in my opinion.
I LOVE Sheryl! Guess I'm going to have to start waking up earlier to watch her! (I'm so lonely)
The person doing the noon show does have experience. She has been in NATIONAL television commercials as a spokesmodel for many companies. She is very young, and yes, she will probably be promoted to an anchor in a couple of years.
In a couple of years? I thought you said she IS the noon anchor. If not, maybe earning stripes as a journalist is important. It should be.
They should change the name to "Positively Horrible" to go along with the announced time change. Still would like to know who the host is related to at the station.
I must have missed that email. Who is the new nooner, or is this a tryout?
"The person doing the noon show does have experience. She has been in NATIONAL television commercials as a spokesmodel for many companies."
Journalism background? The person who wrote this probably does not have it either.
She/he needs no journalism experience to do that noon show. All they have to do is remember what the count and amount are and punch numbers on a telephone. No experience needed. However, she should "looker."
I know an old lady at my bingo hall who can do that for free. She looks....nice.
the new soon to be thv anchor has no news experience... sorry doing commercials isn't news experience. who would want to watch a anchor who has never even written a news package before? unreal.
"Journalism background? The person who wrote this probably does not have it either."
Why would someone have to have a journalism background to read the news? All you need is someone that does not make any mistakes. Haven't had anyone like that in LR television in decades.
Previous post is clueless. Anchors are not just readers. They are writers. They adlib breaking news situations. There's proper attribution to consider, there are the right things to say and the the wrong things that can lead to lawsuits. There is such a thing as news judgement that you can not get from reading the prompter. News judgement is gained from experience and it can make or break you on the desk. All of this falls under the journalism umbrella. Anchors are newsroom leaders, not interns.
does this mean there's an opening in the promotions dept. ? No such opening is posted?
I always laugh when news readers think they are journalists. Ad lib means to make up crap when they have dead air time. That's no big deal. It's called having a conversation. People do that every day.
I clearly would not want to mic one of your conversations! Try having a substantive conversation, Mr Ad Libber, I mean Mr. "Conversationalist."
". . .all of this falls under the journalism umbrella. Anchors are newsroom leaders, not interns"
And, as I stated earlier, the LR market has not had anyone close to this in decades.
"Anchors are newsroom leaders, not interns"
Where/when is this taking place??? Please be specific.
If you don't have respect for at least one anchor in your newsroom, then you can't be helped. Go team!
"If you don't have respect for at least one anchor in your newsroom, then you can't be helped. Go team!"
You haven't been in this business very long, have you.
I would like to TF Beth Hunt.
Beth doesn't have enough to work with. Tracy Douglas sure does! I';m so freaking sick of the cereal drive on 11. I wanna see Robin pour milk all over herself!
Can we see Robin get waxed for sweeps?
"She has been in NATIONAL television commercials as a spokesmodel for many companies."
HAS BEEN is the operative word here.
Here, I do not actually imagine it will have effect.
So, I do not really suppose this is likely to work.
