KLRT Touting Increase in Viewers for 9pm Newscast
Arkansas Business.com reports KLRT/16 GM Chuck Spohn is proudly touting the 33 percent growth ( over July 2005) of KLRT's "Fox News at Nine" newscast in last months book. AB.com says, "Spohn also hinted that KLRT had pulled even with KARK-TV, Channel 4, “in all key demos,” he said."

I thought July didn't matter.
According to KATV it doesn't. But then again would you want it to matter if your numbers were down?
KATV is up in July. Look before you speak.
July doesn't matter. It never has. KLRT has a fine product, but they are weak in ratings compared to other much stronger FOX stations in similar size markets.
With only a 9pm news, that can't compare themselves to the other strong news stations in the market.
I would disagree about their product, they have the best set in town but I can't stand to listen to Donna Terrell or some of their reporters. Kevin Kelly is good but can't make up for the rest of the staff.
You're right though, you can never compare a 9:00 newscast with the rest in town. And of course they're going up, they have nowhere else to go.
A 9pm newscast in a Central time zone market is a newscast of convenience. Nothing more, nothing less.
numbers don't lie...katv wins big in july...morning, yes that's right, i said morning...5p...6p...and 10p...
That's right, July really soesn't matter but it was sweep for KATV.

Wow, their morning show was basically tied with 11 in a JULY book. That means they own mornings now Right? I'm sure they will tell everyone that, because of one book.
They didn't win "big" in the morning. They were tied in the metro, and won by one point in the market. That's not considered big, but enjoy the glory while it lasts. It's been how long since KATV had any morning ratings at all (even with thier current team). congrats.
Looks like THV's month of community service back-fired.
People can only take watching folks with their palms up so much.
Good for kids who want a bowl of cereal, bad for ratings.
Too bad, really.
it's probally the weekend weather guy singing in the glee club. FOX is so bad that now that Friends has dropped of they have seen some growth.
Would you choose ratings or helping Arkansas kids in poverty have enough to eat? When it's all said and done, anyone with character would choose reaching out to the community over ratings this time. I say congratulations to THV for a job well done. It is too bad that it was not a big ratings driver.
I applaud THV for the effort.
But anybody who wanted to give DID give in the first few days.
After that, everybody else changed the channel.
Like summer in Arkansas, it just lasted toooooo long.
Ok so FOX16 beats or ties a station that has been on the air for over 50 years and it doesn't matter?
Besides it not like KARK has seen the book!!!!!
KLRT is like the daily show that's not funny. Donna, is so fake-lame, and the gay weather guys are funny too.
KLRT's news is at 9pm. The other newscasts are at 10pm. You can't claim to "tie" a competitor with a newscast in a different time period. The number of people watching television is diferent from time period to time period. When FOX compete's head to head, and does so over a period longer than a month, it can be compared to other stations.
Why has Fox 16 never expanded to another newscast?
Because another newscast means another producer, more sales people to sell the ads, more this, more that ... Essentially, more money. Clear Channel won't spend more than they have to ... for now at least.
Hah. Anyone who paid attention knew that by the second week of the cereal drive, everything had slowed down considerably. The drive was going nowhere. Kudos to Tom and the gang for kicking it up and putting the kids ahead of the ratings. I hear more cereal was collected in the final week (after the businesses were done) than in any other week. Mostly by THV. I don't know about the folks at THV, but I'd take feeding Arkansas' hungry over a July book any day.
30% is not a big jump in ratings when you're dealing with decimals. We went from a .6 to a .9....wohoooooo! We grew 30%
I actually like their news at 9. I have watched them from the begining and they have made tremendous improvements in the sense that there aren't as many "technical difficulties" as there used to be. It is still annoying that right before a commercial their music BLASTS so loud that you can't hear the weatherman talking. I wish they could fix that. MrsG.
I got a better idea lets shoot michael fabac!
