Eells: ASP Releases Accident Report

Source: KATV Arkansas State Police released their final report on Monday’s fatal car crash that killed Paul Eells and B.J. Burton. The accident happened near Russellville. Paul was returning home from Fayetteville.

State police say there was nothing surprising in the report. Results from toxicology tests could be back in the next few days. The accident happened along Interstate 40 west in the far west bound lanes. The report indicates both vehicles were traveling at or near the speed limit.

A data recorder inside Paul's vehicle has been analyzed and indicates Paul was driving with his cruise control and it was never turned off. It also appears breaks were never applied. His car crossed the center line, through the median and into west bound traffic, hitting Burton's vehicle in the inside lane. State police say neither driver reacted. The question that still remains is what caused Paul to cross the center lane. State Police say it may never be known.
