No Television Coverage of Eells Funeral
KATV just reported the Eells family requested no televising of the funeral of Paul Eells. Services are to be held Friday, 2pm at Robinson Center Auditorium in Little Rock. It is open to the public. There will be no parking downtown in Little Rock. Free shuttles will run from War Memorial Stadium beginning at noon Friday. Robinson Centers seats around 2500 with an overflow room to be opened that will seat around 1000.

That is very disappointing considering there won't be enough seats in Robinson Center. Anyone know why Alltel Arena wasn't selected?
What does this do for the ABA Convention right next door at The Doubletree?
It was the decision of the family. End of discussion.
I know it was the decision of the family. I was just wondering if there was an event at Alltel that prevented them from having it there.
I would be willing to bet that the 2,500 seat auditorium and 1,000 person overfill space will not be enough. It wouldn't surprise me to see over 10,000 people try to attend this.
While I am VERY disappointed I won't be able to view the funeral (can't attend because I'll be out of town, I too respect the wishes of the family. It's in no way about me...it's about them at this time. My prayers are with them.
The way it should be.
One question? Paul and Harry Carey or both now in Heaven.....Who's play by play and who's color?
TOUCHDOWN ARKANSAS
"Little Wally" reported in his column this morning that the service would be televised. Did I read that right? I heard KATV say it would not.
How sad, I wish his family would think of the many of us that will not be able to make our way to downtown LR for this special event. Really poor decision.
I heard that there WILL be parking downtown. Mayor Daily said that there will be no citations given for expired parking meters.
Surely they wouldn't do that if there were not going to be parking.
9:13- I am disappointed, but you know what....we're not the family. They have chosen to allow a public funeral, which they didn't have to do either. I'm not gonna criticize their decision because it's about them and their loved one...and not about us!
I am curious as to why they made this decision. I wonder if there will be an open casket. Having said that, they don't owe me or any of us an explanation.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Paul's loved ones. May you draw comfort from his memory and the knowledge that he is with our Lord right now.
9:13 am, you really wish the family would think of you right now? Give me a break. Let the family grieve in whatever way they want. They are already going to have thousands at Paul's funeral. Isn't that public enough? Why should their grief have to be televised for selfish people like you?
I really have to wonder what people are thinking at times like this. I know everyone thinks they know Paul, because of the type of public person he was and because he was so open and kind to everyone. However it's at times like this that family and those closest to him need to be together and be allowed to grieve in peace.
I am amazed at the generosity of the family to even have the funeral in such a large public place. They did not have to it this way, but they understand the public's love of Paul and are doing their best at this time to think of the fans.
I hope people will respect them and this time and remember it's not about us - they shared thier lives with the public for so many years, can't we now graceously allow them the space and time to go through this without having a bunch of strangers wanting a piece of it.
Send a prayer, a card or a memorial, but most of all respect the families wishes and privacy.
Wally Hall is an idiot
"However it's at times like this that family and those closest to him need to be together and be allowed to grieve in peace. "
...and they're having it at Robinson because.....????
Don't worry, given the scale of the production, there's no doubt Channel 7 taped all of it and will offer it soon for sale with proceeds going to Paul's charity, of course.
You're all idiots.
I beleive that KATV killed paul and being in the news is a stressful job,in the end of my conclusion and i was at the funeral for paul i now strongly believe that the job at KATV killed him and he died in the line of duty so the higher up exec's and top brass can have their quatas filled and paycheck fat.
OMG!!!.........Boy, take your medication!!......PLEASE!!!
