Behind the Scenes People Gone at KATV?

This from a tipster: "I heard KATV lost their assignment editor, morning show producer, 11:30am producer, and 5pm producer on Friday. Is this true? If it is.... what's going on there?"

They got lost? Call Little Rock PD. Let's get their pics out there so they can be found!

Why is there so much hate from each station to the other in this market?

Have any of you ever worked in other markets?

Have you been in bigger markets?
LR is not the be all!!!\

No wonder you guys are stuck in a small market, you have small market minds.

Why do so many people get stuck in this market? LR use to have some talent but as far as I can tell it's gone!!!!

Hey -- were any of you out at the KTHV thing this morning at the River Market? Did you see their producer? She gets to wear tiedie and sweat! And runs! Is that the regulr girl or the CBS person?

THV this morning along with the CBS Early show was absolutely amazing! I hope everyone was able to see it. They did such a good job. It was really a compliment for CBS to come to Little Rock. The crowd was unbelievable. Wall to wall people.

DELUSIONAL. Someone took their medicine this morning.

I saw it too, and yes, it was great. Whoever says differently is jealous because they are SO BORING in the morning on other stations. I don't like THV at night, but I do watch in the morning. The other stations don't hold a candle to THV in the morning, but the evening news is terrible on THV.

KTHV's morning producer has moved on. Not sure if he is gone or still with KTHV. Just know that the morning production staff just went thru a juggle.

I love that one. They've been moved to bigger and better things...
Like what? Makin' room for new chopper's and graphics that claim #1 when you've slid to #2 or #3 in most areas.

That list of folks at KATV sure doesn't seem like as many as the usual sweep over there. Once they got 27 in one swoop.

More whore and coke money for the News Director.

To the owner of this blog:

Honest to G*d, man...is THIS what you really envisioned when you started this thing?? Continual sniping and bi**hing from one station to another from people who are too cowardly to say anything to someone's face? It's not like this business isn't hard enough without voyeurs stopping to watch the carnage. (Or fanning the flames so even more hateful things can be said.) Try actually modding this thing for a change, eh?

To everyone else:

Regardless of what station you work for, the Management knows you are expendable. I know how much TV people make, and trust me, none of you has anything to brag about. The fact that people get out of it to make money and actually...oh...survive shouldn't come as a huge shock, nor should it be anything to snicker over. KATV loses a bunch of people today, KTHV will lose a busload tomorrow, and KARK next week, and so on and so forth. So this is sneer-worthy, why again?

Well, producers should start to make more soon in Little Rock, the Congress is taking up the minimum wage increase.

Less whore and coke money for the News Director.

If you are any good Little Rock is just a stepping stone. You should only be here two or three years.

Anymore that than that you should get out and try something else.

When did Little Rock become a beginners market?

If you are from LR, and your family is here, and you are successful here, you wouldn't leave. There are a few folks here who could leave, but don't really want to.

3:40 PM, July 28, 2006, there hasn't been a male producer on that show in more than eight years. Get your facts straight.

Well, producers should start to make more soon in Little Rock, the Congress is taking up the minimum wage increase.

They'll just say the position is salaried so they can get away with less then minimum wage and no overtime.

I'm sure the promotion of some part-time PA or intern to fulltime producer will come in the next few days.

"KTHV's morning producer has moved on. Not sure if he is gone or still with KTHV. Just know that the morning production staff just went thru a juggle."

First, KTHV has not had a male morning producer in years and the morning production staff has been the same for about three years now. Are you talking about KATV's or KARK's staff?

At 5:43 PM, July 31, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

If Little Rock is just a stepping stone then why are you still here? Is it because you're not good enough? If you think your station is so far beneath you and does such piss poor work then perhaps you should move on to someplace where your abilities might be better challenged.

paul will be missed.

this really does put everything into perspective. makes me evaluate everything in my life and wonder if there is something more i could do to make an impact on people. paul sure had an impact on me and so many others. the man was selfless...would do anything for anybody. we could all learn some great things from him.

he did live a full life, though. i just hope i can make it as long as he did and make contributions to society and people the way he did. paul, i will never forget you. may you rest in peace. i'll see you on the other side.

Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to the other fmaily that was involved in the accident.

All this squabbling back and forth between stations seems kinda pointless today huh?

The Arkansas media family (not just KATV...everyone) has lost one of its best ever....both as a broadcaster and a man. Who among you weren't treated with respect and class when you were around Paul?

May we somehow learn how to follow his example...perhaps starting with this blog?

Everyone will miss Paul Eells. Paul Eells was a genuine legend who truly deserved the title, not only in his career, but also in his humanity. Goodbye and God Bless You! Oh My!

KATV should have never forced him out of the Monday - Friday Chair. Don't get me wrong Sulley is great but they should have never forced him out. Paul of course handled it with class and grace.

God Bless 'Babes' you're going to be missed.

Now Paul is shopping for shirts with Jack Buck in the "other" Hog Heaven.

11:36- Are you sure he was "forced out"? I assumed that there was some preservation going on there by easing up on his duties.

At 12:08 PM, August 01, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Positive he was forced out. It was not Pauls decision. He just said he would go along with whatever the station thought was best.

It's already up on my site, Don Elkin's site and almost every other blog in the region. Where is DCG?

It is sad that it takes something like this to put so many differences aside. The job that all of the stations are doing on this, tv & online, is outstanding. KATV & KTHV's sites with the comments from friends, fans, and such is very touching. This was a very special man and it really shows by the outpouring of support.

At 9:59 PM, August 01, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Maybe DCG is out of town or on vacation. He can't be by a computer all the time.

I thought it was real funny that Jessica Morkert was the one to cover Paul Elles spiritual life. She probably has not darkened the doors of a church in years. The report was horrible and her skills as a journalist were lacking to say the least. Paul was a great man and he deserves more than having a reporter like her even saying his name on the air

Where is Sulley? I have not heard or seen anything from him? Was he so close to Paul that he just couldn't handle being on TV? Anyone know please share

Anyone know if any big names from the past are coming back to town for services?

Well, for a little over 24 hours now, folks were actually civil to one another on this site. Glad to see things returning to normal.

The local TV news industry has some true class acts posting to this blog. (SARCASM INTENDED)

People need to really keep it civil and not discuss people's personal activities outside work. Let's just keep this on Paul and his memory.
