Shreveport TV News Tidbits; Patrick Leaving KTAL, KSLA GM 'Retires'

A tipster has sent some good tidbits of news from the Shreveport Market.

> Shawn Patrick will be leaving ktal shortly after the february book. his hiring at denver's kusa was all over the web last week after it was announced internally there."

> The "retirement" last week of KSLA GM Ed Bradley, who is now the leading candidate in an announced mayoral field that also includes a senile, retired christmas tree salesman, may have an impact on the newsroom there over time. Main anchor Michelle White, who felt a strong loyalty to Bradley, has been exploring other possible opportunities and may be inclined to leave should an attractive one come up (maybe even in a new bradley administration, however far-fetched that proposition may seem). and Jayne Ruben, who bradley installed as news director after bob cashen left, could start to feel some pressure from new management should the numbers start to drop."

wake up! lane stone left a month ago.

and, fyi, when dave foster got demoted to weekends, after the station promoted then-weekend anchor dave schwartz, the writing was on the wall for foster, who'd been there for more than five years. former nd sean kennedy reluctantly gave foster the job, only to take it away from him. so, a few months ago, he left for a station in nashville, his hometown, and another, off-air job.

Here's a bio from Dave's last station that I found archieved with a google search.

Dave Owens
David comes to KRCR from San Bernardino, California
where he spent the last two years working at KCSB Cable TV 3. There he performed many duties, including all phases of production and local reporting. David also served as play-by-play announcer for high school football and basketball, and Cal-State San Bernardino basketball.

Prior to his time in San Bernardino, David spent six years in the United States Navy performing various duties on board U.S. Navy ships, including combat information, damage control, weapons deployment, and engineering.

When he's not working, David enjoys running, working out at the gym, and listening to hip-hop and rap music.

Couldn't find a bio for Rustin Duke, but did see that he worked as a reporter and weekend wx guy at KNOE and behind the scenes at KTHV. He is from Hot Springs.

Here's the achieved bio from Heidi's last station.

Heidi York is a News Anchor for "Good Morning Carolina". She joined WWAY in September 2003; covering Hurricane Isabel was her first assignment! Before joining WWAY, Heidi spent four years in West Virginia where she was the Main Anchor and Executive Producer at WDTV in Clarksburg, and the Morning Anchor at WTRF in Wheeling. Heidi began her broadcasting career as a Reporter/Producer for Cox Communications in Cleveland, Ohio.
Heidi has covered numerous stories that also made national headlines, including the homecoming of P.O.W. Jessica Lynch, the Quecreek mining accident, the crash of United flight 93, and the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks. While on assignment in New York City, she covered the aftermath of the attacks on the World Trade Center. Those reports became part of an Associated Press Award winning documentary, which she also anchored and produced. Heidi has been honored four times by The West Virginia Associated Press, and was named "Best Enterprise Reporter" by the AP is 2000. She has also served as a state-wide host for "The Children's Miracle Network Telethon".

She's a native of Greenville, South Carolina, but spent much of her life living in Ohio. She studied Journalism at The Ohio State University, and Radio/TV Broadcasting at The Ohio Center for Broadcasting. Heidi is a huge Buckeye football fan, and is an active member of The Ohio State Alumni Association.

Heidi and her husband, Ben live in Wilmington, and love spending time on the Carolina Coast! She also loves snow skiing, reading anything by Mary Higgins Clark, and visiting her Mom in Palm Coast, Florida.

"you mean #suck"? That was a good one. Did you really type that? You remind me of the idiot at work who chimes in on a conversation as it's naturally winding down. After the conversation has expired you shout out an attention- getting comment that nobody laughs at...one by one people walk off, and you stand there realizing how stupid of a comment you just made.
