More Ratings Numbers From the November Book

Arkansas Business.com has a complete run down of the Nielson numbers for the November 2005 book. In addition to the numbers AB.com had last week are numbers for the weekend newscasts.

According to Arkansas Business.com's ratings PDF chart KATV led the pack during the 10pm news slot on Saturday and Sunday. For that time slot Channel 7 had a 11.6 rating and 27.3 share; KTHV had a 8.5 rating/19.8 share; KARK 5.5 rating and 13 share. KARK leads the midday time slot. View the PDF file HERE.

01/16/2005 The above post has been corrected to reflect KARK NOT KATV leads the pack mid-days.

Let me help you out there with the numbers that you have... AM Ratings look like this from 6 to 7, not what you have.

KTHV 6.3/26.6
KATV 4.9/21.6
KARK 3.5/15.1

The numbers you have posted are for 5 to 6 am.

So that's how Nexstar gets the numbers.

It sure would be nice to see the numbers from last November. That way we can actually see who's up and who's down in the ratings. It would also be good to see the demos... the numbers that actually count in terms of sales. These numbers listed tell me nothing.

I'm sure there are rules they have to go by in printing the ratings if they're not a Nielsen's subscriber. That's probably why they have to use the general households.

Someone please explain to me exactly how a metered market works. I have heard there is actually a "meter" in the news directors office that measures each quarter hour of news.

I am so used to "booked" markets that I never really got a chance to explore and learn how the metered markets work.

So, is KATV catching up in the mornings?

Metered markets can even measure by the minute !

The News Director doesn't get a meter in his office. Meters are just like books. Nielson places them in a number of homes in the market. When you walking in the morning you have the numbers at your desk and you really find out what people like and don't like. In San Antonio the long time number 1 found out they were 2 and some slots number 3.

i dont know the official nwa numbers but let me sum it up for you:
kfsm #1
khbs/khog #2 but not by much
knwa a DISTANT #3, probably losing to fox or univision in some time slots.

KHBS/KHOG is #2... but its by a larger margin than advertised above. KSFM averages 2-3 ratings points higher than 40/29 for November. They are definitely continuing to move up.

Fort Smith/Fayetteville Numbers:

6 AM

KFSM: 6/30
40/29: 4/21

5 PM

KFSM: 13/33
40/29: 8/20

6 PM

KFSM: 13/27
40/29: 9/18

(KNWA doesn't subscribe but finished a distant third and in most shows lost ground year to year.)
