Hurricane Katrina Still Making Local Headlines

I have mostly been watching the Shreveport stations to see how they are covering the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina BUT I also skimmed over the Little Rock stations during the 10pm newscast. ALL the Little Rock stations lead the 10pm newscast with coverage of the devastation. All three Shreveport stations offered continuous coverage offering up different perspectives on the story.

This is the first time I have seen KTAL really get involved in a story. KTAL has sent reporters Shannon Slatton, Jason Clark and Kimberly Williams to south Louisiana. KTBS and KSLA also have reporters in the region.

KSLA anchor Michelle White has family members staying with her who live in the New Orleans area and lost everything.

All in all the Shreveport stations is covering the story well. I would say KTBS and KSLA are tied for the best coverage.

Okay, maybe we need something other than wall to wall hurrican coverage, but the topic on Nancy Grace tonight "Teen Missing in Aruba: Day 93"

What a loser.

I say Hurricane Coverage 24/7. I can't believe this has occured on American soil. New Orleans looks like downtown Baghdad.

Why not have a story on how badly damaged the Aurba Teens hometown is.

Instantly have the best of both worlds.

...can't believe this has occured on American soil...

You mean like you can't believe the hurricane had the nerve to hit America? Like maybe it's a Democrat? Or a terrorist plot?

What a moronic statement.

I think the person was just making the statement that this kind of destruction is not something that normally happens in America. This is stuff we normally see in Asia or Africa. It is usually us helping them, not us getting hit by bad storms.

Why do you find the need to be mean right now? Now is not the time.

There's only one good place for disasters to happen -- somewhere else.

Did any NWA stations send news crews? Or anchors? What happened to those "good old days"? Heck, at least one member of the main team, in addition to the Chief Met should be on the ground in LA or MS
